Kawaii Metal is a Japanese style, true. It is a mix of Extreme Metal and J-pop. Sometimes it is more Heavy Metal, sometimes it sounds more Symphonic and Death Metal. Even Black Metal. And Pop side of it can vary too, taking inspiration from classical Bubblegum to modern EDM. Jast listen few songs by Babymetal and you will take a jist of it.
@@aliceakemi8513 no. It has far more metal variation than simply Alternative and Trance. As I said it has influence of Extreme Metal too. And electronically speaking it is mostly J-pop, even if there is Trance. You know why Kawaii Metal is a genre? Because it is unique and self-established.
@@aliceakemi8513 yes. But you do differentiate Trance and Death Metal, right? Nothing is created out of nowhere. Everything is influenced by something.

Crossover Thrash is what it's called, I don't know why it says crossover thrash metal. It's a genre that fused thrash metal with hardcore punk. Bands like Suicidal Tendencies, Stormtroopers of Death, Municipal Waste, Nuclear Assault are part of that. Melodic metalcore is bands like As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Bullet For My Valentine, Unearth, Shadows Fall, August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, Shadows Fall, God Forbid. It's melodic because it's influenced by melodic death metal and you can hear that in their riffs, bands like In Flames, At the Gates, Soilwork influenced these bands. That's the metalcore I grew up with and helped me get into other genres. Also Christian metal is just metal with Christian lyrics, it's less of a genre and more of a lyrical thing as it can include christian bands from different subgenres.
I wouldn't count Nuclear Assault into the crossover scene, but I see why you did. It's just NY thrash, pretty close, given their heavy HC punk influence. ;)
Crossover: this term can mean anything but initially Crossover (in Metal) was a mix of Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk, stuff like D.R.I. or Suicidal Tendencies. If you are a Thrash Metal fan you should definitely check out D.R.I. Industrial Metal: Come on, Rammstein is NOT Industrial Metal. Industrial Metal is stuff like Godflesh, Malhavoc, Ministry, Malformed Earthborn, Meathook Seed, Optimum Wound Profile etc. Doom: If you listen only to Black Sabbath because of the Blues influences you should check out some old school Sludge bands. Sludge is basically a mix of Doom Metal, Blues, Hardcore Punk and somtimes also Psychedelic Rock. EyeHateGod even call their music "Southern Hardcore Blues". Dopethrone are also very Blues influenced. Generally Sludge deserves a category of its own. Also i somehow miss Crust Punk and D-Beat here. Bands like Amebix and Discharge had a massive influence on all extreme Metal genres from Thrash Metal and Black Metal to Death Metal and Grindcore. Bands who combine Crust and Black Metal a.k.a "Blackened Crust" are also worth mentioning for instance Martyrdod, Young And In The Way or even some mid phase albums of Darkthrone. And i miss War Metal on this list.
You have such a calming aura man hahaha, enjoyed the video a lot Crossover thrash is like thrash with hardcore punk, Suicidal tendencies or Power Trip for example
Thank you! This was a fun ranking :) and it really high-lights the fact that many subgenre names are just names, haha! I kind of feel that too detailed names just get silly AND puts a band in a trap.
I like Power Metal most of all. Power and Heavy are my favourites. I also like Thrash (yay, Kreator), and some Industrial and Death. My gateway to metal was Nightwish, therefore it was Symphonic Metal at the start for me. At first I was a little sad that you rated Symphonic Metal [Spoiler], but then I realized that no symphonic band stands next to Nightwish. NW set a high standard which is hard to reach. There's truth to your rating.
@Farvann : Crossover / crossover thrash metal was a thing back in the 80s 90s, it's main representative was D.R.I and S,O.D and it was basically hardcore (punk) bands that started to include thrash metal riffing and song structure. No metalcore thus.
Some doom metal bands and albums that I really enjoy a lot and can recommend to anyone interested in the genre are: Buried at sea (Migration - 2003) Slow (V- Oceanss - 2017) Sea of bones (The Earth wants us dead - 2013). Cheers! Nice video man!
You'd probably change your opinion on Metalcore Farvann if you heard bands like Converge, Misery Signal, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, Shai Hulud etc. The early metalcore is totally different that the commercialized version of the genre.
I am not a big fan of In Flames neither. However, I really like Amon Amarth, Be'Lakor, Children of Bodom, Parasite Inc. and especially Insomnium. Discovered it some years ago and it is maybe currently even S Tier for me.

It's kind of neat that some people want to make such a big deal out of modern music but some of the greatest metal bands like Motorhead just say they play rock and roll what is not kind of neat are stereotypes and genres but to explain things to people they are necessary 🎸☠️
thrash, melodic death metal, heavy metal and metalcore are probably the best genres honestly. I listen to extreme stuff, but those 4 are more digestable.
Thanks for the video :) I'm not an expert in any field. But if you like Black Sabbath style doom metal you can check stoner doom metal especially bands like like Electric Wizard, Acid King, Windhand.
Pornogrind placed higher then pirate metal.... euhm i was really thinking Farvann would enjoy some Alestorm and Rumahoy while drunk :p, even the Visions of Atlantis recent 'pirates' album is pretty nice in my humble opinion that is. I do agree with the very goods tho
I agree about Thrash, the problem is its one of the oldest so there's 90% shit to sift through for good stuff. The later years where experimentation started and made new genres shortly after is the best Thrash.
crossover iss thrash metal and fast hardcore punk, like Wehrmacht, D.R.I and Cryptic Slaughter. Like having punky thrashmetal riffs with blastbeats or double bass drumming. I'd guess you like it when drunk or like it.
Metalcore is very good if you can survive the hatebreed and black metal with king diamond it's like blackened thrash then progressive metal is better than you think with the French band Gojira (Godzilla in Japanese)
Crossover (thrash) is a genre that was popular in the 80s - a mix of hardcore punk and thrash metal. Popular Bands are D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles), S.O.D.(stormtroopers of Death) and Suicidal Tendencies. A modern Band that fits into this category would be Municipal Waste.
True Melodic Death Metal is the key. Early Dark Tranquillity and In Flames, At the Gates, Eucharist, Excretion, A Canorous Quintet, Pandemonium, A Mind Confused and one of my favorite bands Estuary of Calamity - these and many similar bands are the real MDM for me!
True. When he said "I don't like In Flames" I was a little surprised. It might be he hasn't heard those early In Flames records, and based his opinion on their newer stuff like Siren Charms and Battles.
Half of the genres made me scratch my head. And I miss some genres, like Atmospheric Black. Would be in Superior for me. Also I like bands the most, that do not really fit into one genre: In the Woods Opeth Enslaved Green Carnation Moonsorrow Agalloch Rivers of Nihil...
I love "eclectic" metal. Bands you cannot clasify exactly in one genre cause they mix and create different albums confusing people a little:D. It's funny how many metalheads don't like when metal has influences of other non-metal genres like e.g disco, classic, rap music. And for me that's the beauty of metal. So diverse itself and so good in mixing with other genres.
blackened deathcore is bands like Worm Shepherd, and Shrine of Malice, Mire Lore, Bog Wraith, Black Tongue etc.. The biggest name in the genre rn is Lorna Shore
You should take a challenge where you listen to all these genres you don't know.

Progressive Metal (incl. Math Metal, Djent)
Atmospheric Metal (Avant-Garde, Doom, Sludge, Drone, Gothic, Metal-Gaze)
Nu Metal (incl. Alternative Metal, Industrial Metal, Groove Metal, Rap Metal)
Glam Metal (only 1980 & up/ not 1970's early Glam Rock)
*Punk is easy...*
Traditional Punk Rock, Hardcore Punk, Crossover, Straight Edge, Crust Punk, Skate Punk, Ska Punk (or 2 Tone), Oi Punk, Riot Grrl, Anarcho-Punk (Anarchist Punk), Pop-Punk (or Bubble Punk), Rockabilly Punk (some known as Cow Punk), Horror Punk
Oh, poor symphonic metal. Gonna go listen to some Fleshgod Apocalypse now, I'm addicted to King. 😁
Also, I feel a bit saddened by melodeath, but... In Flames is pretty polarizing. I made it through grad school on whoracle / clayman / colony. These days it's Dark Tranquillity, Insomnium, Amorphis, Belakor and Allegaeon for me (plus classics like CoB that will never get old for me).
@@aloysfudanshi huh why?
kawai metal is not a musical genre.
Babymetal is Alternative Metal + Trance Metal
@@aliceakemi8513 no. It has far more metal variation than simply Alternative and Trance. As I said it has influence of Extreme Metal too. And electronically speaking it is mostly J-pop, even if there is Trance.
You know why Kawaii Metal is a genre? Because it is unique and self-established.
@@oleksandrbyelyenko435 trance metal is influenced by death metal
@@aliceakemi8513 yes. But you do differentiate Trance and Death Metal, right? Nothing is created out of nowhere. Everything is influenced by something.
Sunn O))) is perfect for those crushing moments in life where you feel nothing inside and just slump in to the couch and stare at a wall with "Orthodox Caveman" on full blast in a quality pair of Sennheiser headphones. I thought Sunn was boring as hell in my 20's, but in my late 30's its damn good stuff.
If you found it boring in your 20s but enjoy it now, does that mean you've become boring? 🤔
I was obsessed with Sunn O))) in my college years... seen them twice already, they are amazing and crushing live!
You have such a calming aura man hahaha, enjoyed the video a lot
Crossover thrash is like thrash with hardcore punk, Suicidal tendencies or Power Trip for example
Never thought I’d hear the word Deftones come out of Farvanns mouth
Even though I love Death and Black Metal, my favorite Genre as a whole is probably Doom Metal.
There's truth to your rating.
i believe in death/doom supremacy and i'll die on that hill
The fact that the person who made the tier list included pirate metal and not sludge metal is very distressing.
@Farvann : Crossover / crossover thrash metal was a thing back in the 80s 90s, it's main representative was D.R.I and S,O.D and it was basically hardcore (punk) bands that started to include thrash metal riffing and song structure. No metalcore thus.
👑 *All Glory to Thrash Metal* 👑
*Proceeds to listen to 'Tempo of the Damned'*
The real thrash attack!
ich bin perfekt zu dem punkt gesprungen wo du gesagt hast für die typen die vorgespult haben XD
I have some pondering to do...
Isn't blackened thrash metal just... black metal ? Because that's what BM started as.
wtf no sludge metal? who made this tierlist... also no atmo black and blackgaze... make a vid with complete one
dam never knew post malone was so into metal
I don't love vanilla thrash metal but when you start adding thrashy riffs to say... black metal. It is sick.
Some doom metal bands and albums that I really enjoy a lot and can recommend to anyone interested in the genre are:
Buried at sea (Migration - 2003)
Slow (V- Oceanss - 2017)
Sea of bones (The Earth wants us dead - 2013).
If you are into the Finnish-style Melodeath I can also really recommend Mors Principium Est, Omniun Gatherum and Kalmah
I think Jester Race era In Flames is SS tier. I just don't like Amon Amarth. Don't know why.I just can't get into.Despite everyone telling me how amazing they are.
Crossover Thrash is Hardcore Punk music crossing over into Thrash Metal
As a big fan of melodic death metal and folk metal. I love Ensiferum, who are a perfect blend of melodic death metal with Folk instruments.
Victory songs and Iron are my favorite albums🤘
I don’t know you … never been on your channel … but just saw your video and most of what you ranked corresponds to my taste finally ! Thrash metal black metal and death metal holly trinity Damn right ! And thrash is the bases of the rest man ! Fuck finally somebody with decent taste ! I will watch the rest of your videos !
Thanks!
Love Metal
It's kind of neat that some people want to make such a big deal out of modern music but some of the greatest metal bands like Motorhead just say they play rock and roll what is not kind of neat are stereotypes and genres but to explain things to people they are necessary 🎸☠️
thrash, melodic death metal, heavy metal and metalcore are probably the best genres honestly. I listen to extreme stuff, but those 4 are more digestable.
I guess you are a real UA-camr now 😂 Thats nice that you still think about 🍍(god I miss my old Name) when confronted with Slam Death Metal.
Ey! It's not the first tier list I've ever made! 😁
"for those who skipped til the end immideatly..." 💀
Thanks for the video :) I'm not an expert in any field. But if you like Black Sabbath style doom metal you can check stoner doom metal especially bands like like Electric Wizard, Acid King, Windhand.
And you should check witchfinder general
Pornogrind placed higher then pirate metal.... euhm i was really thinking Farvann would enjoy some Alestorm and Rumahoy while drunk :p, even the Visions of Atlantis recent 'pirates' album is pretty nice in my humble opinion that is. I do agree with the very goods tho
Shouldn't he have put pornogrind in I don't know? Aren't the vocals pretty distinct?
I agree about Thrash, the problem is its one of the oldest so there's 90% shit to sift through for good stuff. The later years where experimentation started and made new genres shortly after is the best Thrash.
1988-91 (arguably 93) is GOAT’ed! :)
Vektor-Black Future
melodic metalcore/death: INCONCEIVABLE?!??!?!? wtf is that bajajajaa
melodic death metal: ah yes pretty decent sometimes
I'm usually an electronic girl, but I enjoyed this video a lot!
crossover iss thrash metal and fast hardcore punk, like Wehrmacht, D.R.I and Cryptic Slaughter.
I love tier lists! And metal.
Saddened by the lack og strnchcore, war metal and deathdoom
Melodeath is superior
same with me korn is what got me into metal at 11
Death core, thrash metal, black metal, folk/viking metal on top list for me
Good content! Keep going
Chads say they are all good
Half of the genres made me scratch my head. And I miss some genres, like Atmospheric Black. Would be in Superior for me.
Also I like bands the most, that do not really fit into one genre:
In the Woods
Opeth
Enslaved
Green Carnation
Moonsorrow
Agalloch
Rivers of Nihil...
