Pirate metal can also fall under power metal
Alestorm is 10000% glam pirate metal though
That was fun

That's fine, left dude called metallica heavy

Maybe they meant Metallica post And Justice For All, they went super far downhill after that album
"The popular genres"
Includes Pirate and Viking metal which have like one popular band each, but not Progressive Metal which is growing so heckin big
Pirate and Viking metal aren't even genres.
Yeah, most people would just name Amon Amarth as Viking and Alestorm as Pirate. They aren't really genres. Lyrics don't determine genre. Amon Amarth is melodeath, and Alestorm is primarily power metal (with a bit of folk thrown in).
Viking metal is _technically_ a separate genre, but it has its roots in Norwegian black metal, therefore excluding Amon Amarth from the genre (i.e Burzum is "viking metal")
They are both part of folk metal, folk metal has tons of big and amazing bands. In the 2000's there have been sold out folk metal festivals multiple times like pagan fest. I don't think progressive metal has that status, with all due respect to progressive metal, Opeth is one of my favourite bands.
Thank you for commenting this, seriously. Also they both voted "viking metal" up higher but folk metal and pirate metal just being to dependent on theme? Isn't folk metal kind of the umbrella for shit like pirate and viking metal??

Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. I love the first three, and for whatever reason never got into Anthrax.
I was about to type this very same comment. I totally understand that it is a generational thing, but putting Metallica in heavy metal and on the same line as Judas Priest is disrespectful to both. They both are monsters on their ow genre.

When I think of Metalcore I automatically think of ATR, Killswitch Engage, Chimaira, and Trivium.

Then they got david dreimanized (forgive my spelling) shortly after. And their first album had a death metal feel to it, then they switched to what obviously was metalcore.
Trivium, AILD, KsE, BFMV and such are great examples of mid 00's metalcore, but I can see where he's coming from, nowadays it's hard to find a metalcore band that stands out from the rest, most of them are doing the same things and it's just getting predictable af.
