What he doesn't mention is that if you ever decide to switch bikes you can send the shock back to be re valved and have the eye length adjusted to fit a new frame. On top of that, when you send your shock into get serviced it will be updated with the latest bits, to be sure that your shock is always up to date. So....you pretty much have the greatest coil over shock ever made for life.
I've got a coil shock laying around with 3 different springs, glad I am running a RS Vivid Air at the moment. Not switching back any day in the next 50 years!
I would have liked a comparison to other coil shocks like the Fox DHX2 or Rock Shocks Vivid. More narrow adjustment, yes, but how does it feel in comparison? Can the DHX2 and Vivid be dialed in to have similar performance?
Seems to be a whoooole lotta whining about the price. The guy clearly states it isn't for everyone but if you are a full time privateer it's a good value. Hell, I know weekend warriors running them. Let's not ignore the fact it is strapped to a 6k$ bike. Haha
Scott Greer Im gonna buy it just because I will get a shock that will last me for a lot of years and is made custom for me and my bike. Oh and I get 2 shocks in one with the valve settings. Its about 400€ more expensive than a Fox shock- so wheres the problem?
Yeah I'm curious about this as well. He said stuff most people already know about coil shocks, but I want to know how it compares to other shocks on the market.
About coil shock and climbing. I just want to say that I don't use the plattform on my bike. At all. It climbs with open suspension absolutely well. You only need a platform when your bike wasn't designed well for this.
Is better than a rock shox coil shock coil of course! You can configure the high speed and low speed compresion for two different mode...The precison of the small bump reactivity is awesome!
He forgets to mention that even a $50 DNM spring shock would have better small bump traction than an air shock. Heavier than Float X2 yes, but reliability for this luxury $ 550 air shock is so bad that Fox even started to recall every X2 from 2016 to 2017 because they fall apart. According Fox the problem with the X2 air shock occurs when the pressure is set to 250 psi and it has the maximum amount of volume spacers in the air chamber.
Spiderfly a normal coil shock is about 300-500€ ... I never rode it but the 800€ price difference doesnt cut it. Also you can get your Vivid/ Fox etc. custom tuned for like 200€ lol
That's cool but the price is definitely made to pay off the R&D. I'll let the rich kids work away at that for them and maybe one day coil shocks will be more common and affordable.
Just 1lbs more than my air shock...! I'm ready to lose a couple of pound of body weigh to buy this shock! lolll I'm going to buy it in the spring and i will convert my lyrik fork with a ACS3 conversion kit. Can wait...!

What you didn't mention is the cost to switch to another bike. $$$
Eddie Arde between €150 to € 700
I recently installed a spring damper in my bike (had the same shock as Air spring before) and OH MY GOD it makes such a huge difference!
I bought a Felt hardtail for half the price of that spring man
Gami OS so you still don't have a spring lol but that is crazy
Gami OS buy the spring load to bkpack and now ur fully suspende
I've got a coil shock laying around with 3 different springs, glad I am running a RS Vivid Air at the moment. Not switching back any day in the next 50 years!
Maybe you have the wrong coil shock.
Yes! Bring back the coil!!
Very well spoken young man. This was probably the best review of the coil shock I've watched !!
How's this versus the Fox Float X2? Almost twice as much and a pound heavier but I'd be curious to see a comparison.
I would have liked a comparison to other coil shocks like the Fox DHX2 or Rock Shocks Vivid. More narrow adjustment, yes, but how does it feel in comparison? Can the DHX2 and Vivid be dialed in to have similar performance?
Will this work on my hardtail?
Yes. Just make sure it won't cause your rear tire to hit your saddle.
Just cut your seat stays and weld it on there. It’ll work great.

@phuc ewe 1200$ for a full custom built shock is far from a ripoff.
Love coil shocks, I have the cane creek db ,super plush
Can you do a do a cane creek db coil cs vs push eleven six shock test please
how does it go comparing to ohlins ttx??
Expensive yes, beautiful unit undeniably.
The question is whether it is performing better or not than a float x ctd that comes by default with the Yeti.
Yeah I'm curious about this as well. He said stuff most people already know about coil shocks, but I want to know how it compares to other shocks on the market.

Coil will come back and be better priced once it's made in Taiwan and/or competition builds. US pricing is hard to maintain forever.
Coil spring fork will come back soon, I think.
fully rigid comeback 2016
Is this the shock you see on a lot of the modern demos?
Probably not this is really top tier stuff. They are probably only put on bikes by request.
I believe the new Specialized Demo DH bikes use Öhlins Coil shock absorbers
Ah yeah that's the one, couldn't remember the name but new they looked similar
No demos usually have ohlins in them
@BikeRadar Nice job & where can I get it I'm in the US? ;-)
its all made in the US (Colorado). which explains the price. www.pushindustries.com/
ok cool thanks!
why couldn't you just put a swanky new coil on your old halfords shock? you still have the same coil travel?
Is it really better than the flagship RockShox or DVO air coils?
Is better than a rock shox coil shock coil of course! You can configure the high speed and low speed compresion for two different mode...The precison of the small bump reactivity is awesome!
Do you know if it's the best shock on the market for DH? I want to build an ebike so I don't care about pedal bob too much.
This is the Maxwell/Shoreline loop in Fort Collins!
For 1200 buck you can buy high end shocks for race car!
can't be a comeback until it becomes obtainable to the common man.

What if I'm middle aged, overweight and have too much money? This is the shock for me! Even though I'm slower than everyone.
Hardtail
yasssss
Why would you clamp a dropper post like that???
Why WOULDN'T you? Furthermore, what other way is there? LOL
I'm sorry but does it really make much difference 🤔
Spiderfly a normal coil shock is about 300-500€ ... I never rode it but the 800€ price difference doesnt cut it.

Notice the gashes on his elbows. Mountain biking = blood
ROTFL....Innovation !!!
One day coil shocks will return since they are simpler and easier to maintain.
That's cool but the price is definitely made to pay off the R&D. I'll let the rich kids work away at that for them and maybe one day coil shocks will be more common and affordable.
hey I have sub to you now can you plz sub to me and how much sub have you got
Almost half a kilo on my bike? No thanks
He said 800+ grams that's almost two pounds, and he said it was over 400 grams heavier than the Fox air shock.
The weight didn't bother me, just take a dump before you ride. The issue is that I can't sell my turds for $1200.
So sick of idiots saying "take a dump before you ride" Hey, Dummies, weight on the rider and weight on the bike are two completely different things.
Just 1lbs more than my air shock...! I'm ready to lose a couple of pound of body weigh to buy this shock! lolll
I'm going to buy it in the spring and i will convert my lyrik fork with a ACS3 conversion kit.
Can wait...!
Part probably costs $85 to make and sells at 45000% mark up
Yup, high level bike components cost $100 to make and sell for $1000, mid level cost $80 to make and sell for $200.
You lost me at $1200...smh
This is why I hate the bike industry
Beautiful shock get what you pay for like Chris king stuff
A shock that is more expensive than my bike
Push shock but a Fit4 Fork lol
I would rather buy a car than a bike shock, thanks
A 1200$ car won't last nearly as long as the shock. :D
1200 salmons for a 1 kg spring...
Stupid push bike prices, electronic rear shock for BMW SS1000R is around 1/10 of the price. Same goes for wheels.
An Ohlins TTX GP shock for that bike is $1529
Buy an old Romic instead.
round and round we go,next year it`s 26 inch wheels, drink of koolaid anybody?
1200? pfff nigga they crazy
Stick to walmart price.
lmao.thats fn crazy.
No, thanks...
$1200? better come with a free bike in the box.
I'll buy this and put it on my hard-tail
Small bump sensitivity because of less seals? lol wutttt.... I would think more so because of the linear suppleness of a coil
Your knowledge of suspension = 0
Sorry, but someone had to bring it to you... ;-)
