Thank you!!! Finally found a video that explains how to remove rust from rotates without removing the tires! Love the links too!
Not a problem at all!!! It took me years of frustration to figure this out! I would hate washing my wheels and then driving five feet and the rust from the rotors would be all over my wheels! Let me know if you have any questions as I’m here to help! Hope you’re staying safe!
I know I’m a couple years late but great video you can really tell when someone loves a car when they say the full name every time haha helped me a ton!
Thanks for watching! I am happy that you enjoyed the video !
Why can’t I use a hand held hair
dryer with 1000 watts to dry everything?
Cost under $20!
Thank you for covering my product Rustopper!
Any time! I’ve been using it for years !
i spray Du Pont Teflon Spray on rotors to slow down the rust in the winter (Amazon $7.99). Hot water to clean, then let it dry. Then spray the rotors and wheel area. Not much rust after, even if sat for a week in humid. Teflon resist high temps of the rotors..
Wow I’m gonna have to give with a try !
Does the spray damage the polished alloy wheels? I know that some cleaners can cause spots on alloys?
@@kaylonsanders912 No it didnt. You spray on the rotors only. Well, clean any outside spray if.
I just replaced my old rusted rotors with new ones and they've already started to rust over. I really don't want to go through taking off each wheel and cleaning the the rust myself so I'm going to try this also I've been hearing A LOT about this p&s brake buster I'm going to give it a try also
Let me know what you think
@@pickygarage I just got a gallon of the brake buster in the mail but I'll have to remove the wheels and remove the rust 😒 but with htese products hopefully I won't be doing it again anytime soon
Omg this is my pet peeve also. I have black rims and my rotors are so rusty over the past days
You aren’t alone !!!!! This will for sure help!
@@pickygarage if I don’t want to buy an expensive air blaster could I just dry the rotors off with a cloth??
I have one of those blasters. It will not dry your whole car but it's good for wheels.
So do you wash your car first then the wheels? I usually start with the wheels first. I would not want to.dry the wheels and spray the rust stopped then wash the car. If I wasu the car first then by the time I'd get to the wheels they'd be rust from the water getting on the wheels... I'd also get thr clean car dirty if I wash the wheels last.
Great tips...I have a GT350 So couldn't be more relevant!
Perfect!!! This works great!
Directions on product state to apply while rotors are still wet, then dry them..
This works best for sure !
I'm winterizing my car for outdoor storage till next spring, I think this will help me keep the brakes from rusting till then. Thanks.
Yes this will totally help!
Will this also remove the rust that already on the rotors?
No, if your brake are a little surface rusted you can drive the car and use the brakes to get the surface rust off and then clean your wheels. If your brakes are very rusted you can take the wheels off and use brake cleaner and a wool pad to take rust off the rotors. then you would follow the steps in this video to prevent the rust from coming back.
Would it also remove a little rust on the rotors thats is there already?
It’s more for prevention. I would just drive the car and use the brakes to get the rust off then use this
Hi, I just got this and used it. I followed all the instructions and yet these seems to be the usual flash rust dripping into my barrels. I think this does stop it on the ‘face’ on the rotors but there’s nothing that can be done on the back of the rotors and also the inside of the drilled/slotted rotors where water does get in due to pressure washing.
The majority of the flash rush drips from the inside of the rotors I believe. So very annoying.
I don’t know if I am doing anything wrong. I applied this at the very end of the wash right when before I am going dry the car, by that time there is quite a lot of heavy rust formed already on the rotors.
I’ll try next time to apply it right after washing the wheels.
My regimen usually is to wash and clean the wheels first, then pre rinse the car, foam the car, then contact wash with car shampoo.
Do you use a blower to finish drying the wheels ? That should help a lot
@@pickygarage yes I do use a blower to dry off, but by the time I got to the blower, the barrels were already stained. I guess I should get to the blower far earlier to try and dry the rotors!
Hi , how often are you doing this ? I mean every time when u wash your car? All this product protect against rain or salt on the road? , also this product can clean the calipers too?thank you for ur answers 😄
I use this method each time I clean wheels on a car it does a great job at preventing rotor rust in all conditions. Yes the brake buster is fine to use on calipers! Thanks for commenting let me know if you have any other questions!
You are bad ass for this‼️‼️ What is a good way to remove the rust from a previous wash since we didn’t about your method yet?
I don’t think it will remove rust it prevents it
This is really interesting but im wondering if the rust stopper can cause an unbalance of the rotor, and eventually lead to rotor run-outs. Rotor run-out leads to pulsation and noise during braking. Have you been experiencing any of that?
I’ve been using this for a long time now and I haven’t experienced any of this on any of my cars .
Hi, so I watched your videos few days ago and washed my car yesterday. I sprayed the rust stopper and let it dry on the rotors. Later I noticed when the rust stopper is dried, noticed the surface of the rotors were “chalky” from the spray. Did that happened to yours?
This had happened to me when I applied way too much rust stopper but it still is better than the rust. It also helps if you have a leaf blower to dry off the rotors before putting it away. Let me know if this helps ! Thanks for checking out the channel and leaving a comment
@@pickygarage ah ok thank you for getting back to me! I’m probably missing the blower. I’ll try out on my next wash!
Do you have to rub the Hyde’s serum into the rotors or can it just be sprayed?
I just spray it on !
Will this method remove the rust that's already on the rotors?
Good info.
Great video, I have a new Bmw X4 M Competition and rotors are showing a lot of rust will try these products
It helps a lot ! Let me know how it goes or if you have any questions!
we have the same wheels ! haha im watching this because i have the same problem, after i finish detailing them, the rotors dry out and get rusted then i brake and all that goes onto the wheel smh
hahaha yes I absolutely hated it! Honestly this method helps so much! Its the best method that i have found. I hope it helps you! Let me know if you have any questions Sigi! Thanks for commenting god bless!
excellent video! I'm wondering if you can recommend a similar product to the Hydes Rust stopper. It's always out of stock. Can you recommend anything else that I can pick up at big box store like Walmart, Autozone, Home Depot or Lowe's?
I am actually testing products now to see how they work in comparison to rust stopper. I’ll make an update video soon! Thanks for checking out the channel!
@@pickygarage thanks
Rustopper is back in stock at Obsessed Garage, Car Supplies Warehouse, Professional Detailing Products, Sky's the Limit Car Care and The Clean Garage
Great vid! I have black e- coated rotors and still the rust powder gets on them. Fins especially. Will this work? Do I have to take wheels off and get all the rust off first? It's more of a rust powder or will the p&s do it? I usually use meguires all wheel cleaner to clean wheels and rotors. Then wash my car and then take it for a 2 minute drive, come back and dry my car. Thanks!
The full method helps prevent your rotors from getting surface rust. You’re referring to your rotors right ?
@@pickygarage Yes. I just ordered the hydes today and ordered some of the brake buster so what I'll do is take wheel off, clean with the p&s with a medium detail brush, get all the rust powder off, then spray the hydes. Let it dry for alittle while. I don't think the p&s would work with the wheel still on. But I'm gonna use it at full strength. Sound good?
Hi Mate ! Thank you so much for your great video ! Just a qq on the application of Hydes Serum - once you sprayed the rotor shall you be worried about drooping it to the wheel or if it will be sprayed on the red paint of Brembo calipers? I just wanna know if that needs to be immediately removed / dry out or if there is no impact of that product to any surface ( wheel paint or calipers) ? BTW I just bought it - it's hard to get this product in Europe - but I have been really encouraged by your videos! Thank you again for great tutorial!
You will be fine ! The ingredients won’t mess up paint
Thank you so much for watching and commenting let me know if you have any other questions
@@pickygarage great thank you for letting me know !
I have a Dodge Charger Sxt should I get new rotors mine are new but rusted🥺
After you drive them are they rusted ?
thanks for ur video👍🏻
i have a regular car with metal caliper n rotor. they rust n degenerate pretty fast n bad since i park n don’t drive a lot. by using p&s n hyde rust stopper, will it help prevent n slow down my brakes to rust n degenerate so i don’t have to replace than very often?
thanks
Yes these products will help prevent rust from starting on your calibers after you wash your vehicle. Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks for checking out my channel!
@@pickygarage thank you for your reply, i will def try ur solution🤝
Dry Coat is readily available and an excellent rust preventative product. 🍻
I will have to give this product a try! Thanks so much for commenting and sharing!
Is it safe to use on my rotors with black painted wheels.
@@spyspy68 yes
Hey thank you so much for the insight. I had brand new rotors put in my car less than 2 months ago and they are super rusted. is that normal? 🤔I live in Texas so it barely rains here. Also I never had that problem with my previous car and I had it for 2 years.
Do they rust after you wash the car or are they just always rusted? I only notice my rotors rusting after I wash my car or it rains. Be sure to apply the rust stopper as soon as you are done washing the wheels for the best results! Hope this helps you! Thanks for commenting hope you’re staying safe!
We're in Texas too. It normally doesn't rain that much here during the summer, but we've been getting some good rain. The grass is still green. Just had my rear rotors and pads replaced, and the driver's side rotor is starting to show surface rust.
They used cheaper parts without protective coating. Or.... You are near saltwater?
Are you still using Hyde’s Serum on your cars? I found out the company that’s makes this product is out of business & it was made in his garage. Did you ever have any issues with your wheels being affected by using Hyde’s? Also what are you using now to prevent rust on your rotors?
It works amazing!!!! There’s a new product I’m testing will be making a review soon!
skip all the hassle get a touchless car wash, instantly dried at end. park after the wash and spray with hyde, dry. done
I like that!
Greetings... I have the exact same issue with my RS5 and haven't found a solution that works. I will try this! I do have a question though.... Do you wash the wheels after you wash the car? My car is black as are my rims and I typically wash my rims first, then my car. Seems like I'd need to decide if I want to get the tires and rims wet after washing the car or getting the car wet again after washing the rims and tires. :)
Had the same question… what did you land on? Before or after?
Excellent..right..thank you
Thank you for checking out the video ! Hope it helped!
Would it work if I bought just the rust stopper and sprayed it on without cleaning them first? I just replaced my rear rotors and brakes but will be storing the car outside for about 3 months and I’m trying to prevent the rotors from rusting. Also would it be easier to take the wheels off before spraying it on to make sure I don’t miss any spots? Thanks for any help.
Yes that would help ! If they are rusted yes the rust stopper would help for sure while your car sits out.
@@pickygarage ok great so I wouldn’t need to clean them first? They already have a little surface rust. All I would need to buy is the rust stopper? And then as soon as I drive it the rust stopper dissipates correct?
$113 for the blaster now. Yikes! Might try the rust spray.
Give it a shot ! A regular leaf blower works as well!
Thanks for the video and advice 🙏 Does the hydes rust stopper not affect brake performance ?
Nope brakes work amazing!
Thanks man, I'm sharing this to our mega whatsapp group👌
Did you try dry coat?
wondering if it worked same way.
As it's available in my country.
Dry coat from 303?
Thanks man!
Great video! Do you use any sort of streak inhibitor in your power washer setup or not needed if you get on it quick with the blaster?
What do you mean streak inhibitor ? I do make sure that my water is super filtered and that helps a lot here’s the filter I use amzn.to/3JKzA0D
@@pickygarage - Sorry, that was meant to be "rust" inhibitor, as in any sort of chemical agent that inhibits future rusting.
where can I buy rust stopper ?
Thank you I'm subscribed
Thank you for subscribing!
The Hydes product is unavailable. Any ideas for a substitute?
Try obsessedgarage
fire car man 💪🏽🔥
Great video quality
I really appreciate that! Thank you for leaving a comment and checking out my channel!
@@pickygarage You're welcome!
What if they are already kind of rusting?? What gets rid of them?
Normally I just drive the car again and then go through this process
Video starts at 7:00
Jusr remove the wheels and apply to the rotors. Skip the cleaning
Not a bad idea! I just drive a lot and taking the wheels off are such a pain in the butt sometimes when you are in a crunch for time.
Cant find rust stopper anywhere!
Does the link not work?
This stuff is super expensive and sold at only ONE place. ONE PLACE. Try a product called dry coat. It works better in my opinion, costs less and available EVERYWHERE. Cool video though
WOW thank you for the suggestion. I just bought some off amazon amzn.to/3BrfuEG is this it?
Why do you not just drive the car down the street using the brakes, That will stop any rust, Your "rust stop" will vanish after first application of brakes
The breaks rust moments after you wash them this give you time to finish washing your car along with not needing to drive it down the road.
Brakes*
The brake pads will prevent rust on the surface that they ride on. The rust stopper is for everywhere else where the pads dont touch...
Great on the outer side of the discs
but the inside will still be wet and get rusty
There is no real fix
I was about to say that, but for these kinda people out of sight out of mind.
Just take the wheel off and clean it
That would work the best hahah! That way the rotors don't get wet!
The quickest way to get rid of the rust... Drive it
Good for winterizing the vehicle while we relocate to a warmer climate.
Um
Get coated rotors.
Is that a thing? I feel like as soon as your hot the brakes you will wear it right off.
@@pickygarage The coating on the friction surfaces wear off right away but the hat and vanes are still coated. There should be no rust on the friction surfaces if you drive the car.
@@williamwchuang Yeah the issue that I have is that I put my car away once I get finished washing it. So if i dont put anything on the rotors it will rust.
@@pickygarage my dad being an old school guy always takes the car out for a drive to clear the brakes of water, a long time when cars had drum brakes on the front wheels it was actually required, as the rust would build and cause issues....this practice has stayed with me and I always take the car out for a quick spin to heat the brakes and get rid of the water....I still suffer frkm rust as my car sits outside
@@krispykruzer i have tried that but then i end up getting the wheels dirty from driving.
Pointless…as soon as it rains the rust will be back….money down the drain….literally
Yeah I don’t drive my sports cars in the rain often !
There… literally…… was no point of using the word literally
Thanks but the talking was too much
I have that problem sometimes. I’m trying to do better .
Stupid.First of all 5 minutes is stupid ad of products that are hseless. But 4 real.Rotors will always look rusted after a wash ,and driving down the road will clean that effect. Also keeping car garaged during the rain and snow will prevent rusting not just rotors,a lot of components. There is no product that can undo rust efect when car sitting outside.
Talk too damn much
Yeah it’s something I have to work on for sure. Thanks for the input and checking out my video.
Perhaps you should just ask people flat out for money instead of linking everything you use through Amazon in your description especially when a good portion of it is unrelated with the video topic
As listed in the description they are detailing products I use. It is there due the the overwhelming amount questions I get asked everyday pertaining to the products I use. Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any questions about the products as I am here to help!
If he asked everybody for money they would pay (or not) and be out money if they did. When you click on a link you dont have to pay out of pocket and yet he still gets to make money. The beauty of the system is he can get paid without asking everybody for money out of their pockets...
@@matthewfiorito5310
In essence you are asking for money indirectly on youtube when you request them to click subscribe, ring the bell, like, comment. Furthering the point, the amazon links in the description aren't just the general amazon links to the product but through the posters personal Amazon link which gains them an extra discount with amazon each time someone buys from that link. There's also verbal mentioning of sponsors which are embedded in the video that can't be avoided even if you pay for UA-cam red.
Take out the monetary incentive backing influence and you'll see real honesty with reviews especially with products used in videos.
@@obliviondio yes but the difference is who the money comes from, the end user or youtube itself...
@@matthewfiorito5310
It comes in both ways from UA-cam and users.
