thank you for allowing Maria tell part of her story on your VLOG. She certainly is a really good person and a good friend. She has helped you so much and always has a smile on her face.
I stayed with your first season and and a little of your second, but emotionally what you had to go through became to tough for me.(I know what it's like to be dead in the water, motor down. No wind Etc.) So much respect for what you persevered with. So glad to see carl today....Also having lived aboard with an MPPT based solar system for 11 years I'm really up on solar power. Those two 120's ( rated at maybe 7 amps per hour in ideal conditions) should bring in maybe 30 to 35 amps a day. So 60 to 70 amps a day for the 2 panels together what with lower sun angles and some overcast....You see your volt readout jump from 11.9 to 12.4 instantly at times. thats shade hitting your panels or panel. Maybe the mast, maybe the very close standing rigging, maybe the antenna? Those panels work like a garden hose stretched across a driveway. If a car tire sits on top of 6 inches of the hose the whole length of hose will have very little flow. Also my experience studying and living with (BLUE SKY) MPPT controllers is more, actually more than double the power of Shunt controllers Blue sky gives a digital amp readout.....Lastly I love the way you inform your viewers of all the workings....Impressive lady. G.T.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. We spent two years back and forth between San Blas and Cartagena. Never found any metal back in the palms, but lots of baby doll heads, solitary shoes and hamburger beans.
It is a shame about all the bottles -- and even more unfortunate that all this garbage is washing up in so many places. We were in one place back in the mangroves where the trash was about three feet deep.
Great video, horrible ending. What I mean is, I am so entranced watching, and then you say those dreaded words - but more about that... Thanks for posting. Exciting times ahead.
Obviously, your friend really has spent her life at sea; at 5:55 she describes her dog as looking like a Jersey cow....but Jersey's are brown. The black and white cows are generally Holsteins. LOL On another note; you hooked up your new solar panel...it's been a while now, how is that working out for you? How much money did it set you back? I'm buying a Westsail 32 and am contemplating installing solar panels on her. Your thoughts on the matter?
excellent video...curious to know about the rigging and tar treatment. like did you tar it then wrap it, etc...life cycle and all that...really intriglued by the process and idea
Sea Journey first u serve it, then u tarr it. As Maria mentioned, they tarr it once a year but on traditional boats with tons of crew they tarr each month :)

not forever, but longer, I doubt that any rigg would last forever ;). It's a tar coating that soaks into the serving which makes it waterproof and therefore protects the glavenized steel. Usually you use stainless steel for rigging which does not need any further protection, but the traditional way is to go with galvi and then serve it marlin and then tar it to protect the galvi from water. It's also cheaper, but a lot of work :)
Rottingboards oh great, thx for sharing the link. Yes, Cathy and Maria Charter their boat to people in the San Blas islands for five years now. And I am teaming up with Maria for two special Untie The Lines charters in June. Wanna come and join us? :)
Wow, their price is very reasonable. I will keep this in mind for the future. I will try to talk my wife into this voyage. You might want to put the link in your video or details below your video. Thanks for all the videos you have made. I have been following you from the beginning. You are an inspiration to live life to the fullest.
Sehr gut starke Frau..
Love that dog, love you, love the videos, love your new friends...everything is perfect and your going to screw it all up and leave....all just to go to the other side of one silly little canal...lol...I hope you take this with the light hearted mindset it's intended. You know you 3, all your abilities, all your means, 2 boats, and the dog will trump damn near anything that damn Murphy can come up with. I'd give some serious thought to a more enduring friendship.
hello - question - how/where does Nicco go to the bathroom when you are at sail? I would like to take my pitt-mix with me sailing too. But I am not sure what the maritime laws are if we go to a non-US territory.
Hey.
ForSeTi Trimaran they have a Facebook page called Sail Joana and a website www.sailjoana.com. But you should be able to reach them best with sailjoana@gmail.com
I should be Keel hauled for such a slip off tongue to have said PEI is in Nova Scotia . My grandmother would be rolling over in her grave . Sorry to all my fellow Maritimer's , maybe a small case of stage fright 😉
thank you for allowing Maria tell part of her story on your VLOG. She certainly is a really good person and a good friend. She has helped you so much and always has a smile on her face.

I love her smile!!!!
It's great to see more of SV Joana and learn more about Maria too.
Maria says that Niko always finds the best position to always be in the relaxed mode, to teach us that we should too!" So True. Dogs are great!
I have to say that sailing must be good for you. You both look so healthy and happy.
Good video. You certainly know your way around boats, and aren't afraid of hard work. That is most admirable.
We've been watching from the start! Your story is a true inspiration! Good Luck and

Sailing Tranquility Bay hehe, yes, I can still find those here, too, unfortunately. And tons of plastic bottles...:(
It is a shame about all the bottles -- and even more unfortunate that all this garbage is washing up in so many places. We were in one place back in the mangroves where the trash was about three feet deep.
Why is this channel not being watched by more people?
Thanks for another great video.
Stay safe and have fun. Peace.
Another great video. Thank you. Your new friend has a great story. You guys are living the life.😀
Lovely episode, with a great mix of interesting discussions and practical, helpful advice. Thank you 😊!!
Great you are so self-sufficient! Love to be there, cheers
So nice to see you back. Sure would love to see the inside of that boat before you leave. Big Boat but Cool Boat. :)

Thank you for sharing, and always inspiring!
Enjoyed the video! Minor point, Jersey cows are most often brown. Maybe Holstein cows. Cute dog, reminds me of the RCA dog.
Best boat dog ever!
reagentism she is. And the cutest!
You self-sufficient sailing women are an inspiration.
Great video, horrible ending. What I mean is, I am so entranced watching, and then you say those dreaded words - but more about that...
Thanks for posting. Exciting times ahead.
Wish we could have seen the interior.
So is the boat you will be on the charter trips in?

Wow, what a lady Maria is.. Love her dog too.. Does she have a UA-cam channel ?
Love your videos, great storry....merci....lg....rom
Fantastic
Why does the special coating make the rigging last for ever?
not forever, but longer, I doubt that any rigg would last forever ;). It's a tar coating that soaks into the serving which makes it waterproof and therefore protects the glavenized steel. So does Maria charter out her boat to vacationers?
Rottingboards oh great, thx for sharing the link. Yes, Cathy and Maria Charter their boat to people in the San Blas islands for five years now. And I am teaming up with Maria for two special Untie The Lines charters in June. Wanna come and join us? :)
WhiteSpotPirates. Of course, but for all the wrong reasons! ;)

PEI Nova Scotia haha. That will make islanders cringe. Cool video, I was wondering the story behind the boat as I'm from Canada. Thank you.
Are you from Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia? :')
Walking Zed's Push Bike. They are two different places, I'm from Nova Scotia.
I was having a laugh. :')
Does Maria have a UA-cam channel?
Alex Volik yes, sail joana, but they don't do much there...u find more pics on Facebook sail joana or their website www.sailjoana.com
