  • This video covers troubleshooting a parasitic draw and a door ajar light that stays on all the time, causing a dead battery, and then fixing the trunk latch switch that ended up being the problem. The trunk light did not shut off and that was the issue.

    Great video! Especially if you’re a beginner if this guy isn’t a professor at a automotive mechanic school, he should be very clear. Instructions and explains troubleshooting helped me solve the same issue I had.

    How tf u fix this if the door wont open at all

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  5 місяців тому

      If the trunk won't open at all then you will not be able to fix it. You will have to get the trunk open first.

    Hello, I have the same problem but in a 02 Toyota Celica. Mechanic couldn't fix it and thinking of taking it to Toyota Service Center.

      It will need to be diagnosed just like I did in this video. Take it to a shop that has the capability to do that.

      I found out the housing that holds the bar is cracked, will be ordering a new one. The door ajar light goes off when I turn on the headlights. @@bennieaust

      Same issue here, what is it supposed to look like? I wanna bend it back into its proper shape

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust  11 місяців тому

      @@beesmongeese2978, the exact shape is less important than it it’s making / braking contact at the right time. If you watch the video you can see what the before and after shape looked like on this car, but again, the important part is that it’s not grounding out on the brass pin when the latch is closed, and that it is grounding out on the brass pin when the trunk is open.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! You seriously just saved me potentially hundreds of bucks. I went to fill gas in my car and was driving after and my car door light randomly kept going on and off. Once I came back home and parked and turned off the car it was still on, no beeping to signal a door was open when locking the car either. Checked all my doors, everything was shut. I went back to my trunk like you showed and messed around with it, opened and shut it firmly and now my car door light FINALLY is off! I am so grateful for your vid!! I was super worried about having to shell out money to have this looked at hoping it wasn’t a big problem and now I don’t have to worry :)
