      It’s not required, but just like an oil changeI think it’s a good idea. I would only take it for a short (5 minutes) drive so that the fluid is not very hot when you go to drain it.

    I got my 2017 hyundai sonata's engine replaced at the Hyundai dealer where a purchased the car. When doing so, i had them do a drain and fill on the Transmission because it was over due with 107k miles. Am the second owner and i bought car with 18 k miles. After a few months of driving the car i started getting a shudder at around 40 to 60 mph. At first i thought the tires were unbalance and when i went to have them balanced they told em it wasnt worth it because i need an alignment and i needed new tires. After getting new tires, its still doing the shudder at around 40 to 60 mph. So now am convince that the dealer must of screwed the drain and fill up and now the car shudders on the drivers side where the transmission is. I was to do another drain and fill my self, but i dont have an even surface to jack the vehicle up. I made an appointment at the dealer so they could take a look at it. But am afraid that they are going to scam me for lots of $$$. Should i wait for the dealer to check the shudder or should i donthe transmission drain and fill my self. Am a DIYer and do some things my self. But i have never done a drain and fill my self. Your video is the most detailed video on youtube on how to dona drain and fill on a Hyundai Sonata. But my worries is that i dont have an even surface to jack the car up. I could probally put the fron of the car on jack stands and then jack it from the rear with an heavy duty jack and check it tonsee if incould level it as best as i could. What do you think i should do?

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust День тому

      I think the best advice I can give you is to take it to a shop or friend you trust to get the shutter diagnosed. That's a much better starting point then just servicing the transmission because it might be related. If you do decide to service the transmission, whatever you can do to get it level will work. Jacks stands all around is a good option.

    i’m about to mine 2019 ram with 3.92 axle and limited slip, I know everyone is saying 18foot lbs for fill and 44 foot lbs for drain and that does sound correct but I asked the dealer when buying my oil and they said the torque for my truck is 52 foot lbs for fill and drain and that sounds wrong to me :( they said it’s cause i got the 3.92 with limited slip ….

    • @bennieaust

In my opinion, it would be a rare instance to encounter a problem not grounding it. Personally I never have. That being said, for legal reasons, you should always ground it. :)

Looks you went above and beyond for the customer...and did a great job...a would gamble and say you have decades under a hood...I grew up in a big garage with any tool i needed because my father and grandfather were both diesel mechanics by trade....my father had 2 very bad strokes, and has dementia now and lives in a rest home....we had planned in moving to Myrtle Beach SC, from Kentucky when he retired with the whole family...they were about to close on a beautiful property with 3 garages, where we were to build that hotrod we had talked about since i was a kid, spending late nights at the garage getting cars finished....he had 55 and 57 he sold when i was very young...i had a 79 monte carlo we played around with when i was a teenager....but we hadn't picked a chasis....but sadly he had a stroke 2 months before retirement and one a year to the day a second stroke that debilitated him...the 05 truck I'm fixing was his, when they took his license, he gave me the truck....and i wouldn't sell it for all the tea in China, i sure miss not having a garage just to pull in, with air lines a roll around for metric, and a roll aroundfor standard, didn't have a lift though, they worked on alot of busses, and big floor jacks, and big ol jack stands, i couldn't tell you how many pizzas i ate with my father working late at the garage in the 80's, id love to wash my hands again with that old GoJo hand cleaner, and get cleaned up and eat pizza with my father again,.. But, im real scared to look under it now...😬✌️

Though I should have checked the manual first.

      I always state what it actually took when I did it because, for whatever reason, it seems manuals and google searches frequently are wrong. It can vary from year to year so it may not be exact for everyone, but it’s real world what it took for me. The most important part is doing the level check procedure correctly so that, no matter the quantity needed, you have it filled to the correct level.

    I accidentally removed a 14mm little bolt from right behind/under the plastic overflow cap. A few drops came out of it but it appeared to not really do much. Did locate the actual drain plug with magnet after wards…… hopefully my transmission isn’t broken now ha lol! Does anyone know what the little bolt near directly under behind the overflow cap does? Man, I always do something stupid doing repairs and maintenance on the cars!

    When screwing into the soffit to fasten the wire clips, are you only going into hollow vinyl or is there wood behind the vinyl you’re hitting?

      My soffit is aluminum. That’s all I screwed into and it’s held up great.

    I have had to make my own weldable plates but I sprayed all the rust with this product that turns rust back to metal first. Then I did all the welding and after that sprayed everything inside and out with undercoating. This was 5 yrs ago and I sold the truck last year and the guy that bought it is using it to haul hay rolls to peoples cattle ranchs and he knew about the frame but still says he has had no issues out of it at all. He has also stated that no rust has come back at all. I think the rust converter was a very good idea and would recommend that that part of the process to be added to any rust repair. This is the product that I used for this Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer Spray Black. I got it from amazon which was the cheapest place to get it. I liked it so much I have started using it on every car or truck I buy just to prevent rust from starting. Its that good and no I do nit have an Amazon store lol

    Do all these pilots have the same issue.? I feel like every channel talks about transmission problems. I was looking to buy one but every time I watch a video someone is always working on the tranny. Is this car even worth buying??

    • @bennieaust

      Pilots have been plagued with transmission issues from year one. I think the transmissions were best from about 2008-2015. Anybody else feel free to chime in on their pilot transmission experiences. There is a lot to like about the Pilot but buy one with caution.

    When I did my Toyota. There is a obd2 jumper method to check trans temp without scanner. Some people say just check pan temp with temperature laser gun, others say no because outside pan temp is not accurate to inside. I did both methods at the same time to check accuracy. My temperature gun was about 5 degrees lower when the obd2 jumper method to dash lights kicked on. In most cases I think temp gun to transmission pan is accurate enough. The temp gun is say is 5-10 degrees reading under the temp inside the trans pan

    i have a 2010 nissan altima 3.5sr the transmission slips a lot it runs and drives fine it’s just making a loud noise, could the fluid possibly be empty or do i need a transmission replacement

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust 12 днів тому

      It’s certainly worth checking the fluid level before drawing a conclusion, but there is a good chance the transmission is failing and will need to be replaced.

    I have a 2006 honda pilot and I've noticed a couple differences. 1 - the owners manual doesn't say anything about waiting 60 seconds and not longer than 90 seconds or whatever and 2 - my transmission dipstick seems a little different. The 2 dot hole marks seem to be more towards the end of dipstick compared to yours.

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust 12 днів тому

      I’m not surprised that there are slight differences even within the same generation. I wouldn’t recommend doing anything that contradicts the owners manual.

    • @bennieaust
      @bennieaust 14 днів тому

      It’s pretty quick. The parts that don’t go fast are refilling the transmission and possibly warming it up to temp if it was done cold. Because of those things it may take 45 minutes or so start to finish.
