  • Today’s feature is on his 3rd NBA team heading into his 6th season. Through 3 games beginning this year he’s appeared in 1 of them for a total of a minute thirty two seconds and recorded a block and no other stats. In 2018 no one would’ve guessed this would be the case when Mo Bamba was considered one of the year’s top prospects, that had so much potential he could tell the Memphis Grizzlies not to draft him as he’d rather not have anything to do with their team. Of course they didn’t and selected Jaren Jackson Jr, who became an all star in Memphis, Defensive player of the year, 2x all defensive first team and twice led the league in blocked shots. He’s also helped the Grizzlies become one of the more promising teams in the NBA before they self destructed and are now 0-4 on the 23-24 season. Mo Bamba was taken 6th in that draft by the Orlando Magic and played at least 50 games just twice in his career and failed to live up to the hype surrounding him up until they traded him early 2023. He had a short stint with the Lakers, then off to the 76ers, were he's seldomly used in the initial stages of this season. MO BAMBA Told Teams Not To Draft Him Then Became A BUST! Stunted Growth

I remember right around the draft watching a video where JJJ and Bamba worked out with KG and JJJ impressed the hell out of KG and you could see he was locked in and motivated and Bamba had more attitude and didn't seem to have that same fire. Here we are 6 seasons later and that initial impression looks very valid. Grizzlies got the right guy.

He knows how to develop players so the draft was rigged to send Victor there. Mo Bamaba it would have been a different story if POP would have got him.

I remember telling everyone that Luka and Mo were by far the best players in that draft. At least I was half right 😂
When I saw Bamba get drafted by Orlando, I immediately knew that was going to be a problem for his development.

The Magic are great with centers. Just look at how Shaq and Dwight turned out. Even Darko Milicic improved a bit during his stint with the Magic. Vooch was great during his time in Orlando. The organization wasn't the reason for Mo's stunted growth.

Reminds me alot of Thabeet from UCONN picked early due to physical potential but never really had a staple to hang his hat on in terms of playstyle Mo has a 3 point shot but hes not a good shooter, hes 7'1 but hes atrocious in the paint, hes skinny but he doesn't run up and down the court, and outside of shot blocking he doesnt offer up anything else defensively
