Absolutely 💯 deron was my Favorite pg in his Prime . He was like a shifty hybrid that could average alot of assist and a great 3level scorer before injuries. D Will was like a combination of Jason Kidd and Baron Davis.
Thank you for this. This is my favorite point guard ever. Offensively he had it all in my opinion. Shooter from anywhere on the court, great vision, finished at the rim, with authority when he wanted to. My dad attended classes with Williams, Head and Brown while they were there. I loved being in Champaign Illinois because of that.
Deron Williams was an absolute DAWG in Utah. He was one of the best point guards of all-time in his prime. He fell from earth after being traded to Brooklyn after his beef with Jerry Sloan in Utah. He was a REAL HOOPER! 🏀🏀🏀🏀
I remember being a kid and he was the first player who’s game I really enjoyed. He was strong, had a great handle, consistent shooter and was a winner. It’s a shame what happened to his career. But it is what it is. He was a true talent.
He was a problem 😢then the injuries got him . Salute to my man Stunted Growth ... I found this channel during the pandemic and the vibe definitely helped
Huge bball fan and never miss the Inside the NBA crew. Chuck used to always say "If Chris Paul is in the drivers seat, Deron Williams is right there in the passenger seat." Damn how things can go downhill!
D Will was my favorite point guard all throughout high school. I was convinced that he was an overall better player than Chris Paul. I never would have thought his decline would come as early as it did. The clear face of the jazz and a top 3 point guard in his early prime. Wish he had bought in to Sloans philosophy whole sale. I think Sloan knew talent wise he had a truly special talent and that D-Will was way more gifted than John Stockton. I believe with one more key roster addition could've taken the Jazz places Stock & Malone couldn't. Or at least got the jazz back to the finals had he stayed in Utah. But Injuries really did slow him down and zap him of his quick twitch movements. Though I was glad to hear he reconciled with Sloan right before his death. Regardless Williams will always be one of my all-time favorite players to watch. Side-note he was a beast to play with on NBA 2k8.
D-Will was my favorite PG while in the league. I always thought he was snubbed of 2 or 3 more all star appearances. He should’ve had at least 6 All Star Awards. I knew since he was in Utah he wouldn’t get the recognition like players in the big market his early years. I always wanted Utah to go out and get Amar’e Stoudemire. That Utah system was always great for a PG & PF to thrive together. Those 2 could’ve competed in the western conference for at least 6-8 years if things would’ve played out right. It’s no way they wouldn’t have won at least 1 championship in both of their primes. I hated that D-Will didn’t get a ring but he’ll always be regarded as one of the best PG’s to have ever laced them up in my book.
I really think if he hadn't had his beef with slogan his career would've went very differently I know he had injuries but I think his jazz years were perfect and he was meant to be there
DWill! My favorite player of all time! Him, Dee Brown, n them guys had my eyes glued to the TV at Illnois n I was only in 2nd grade! Thank God for allowing me to grow up during your excellence. Will always be my favorite player of all time. Love you DWill!
With his stats declining every year maybe the nets should have found a 2nd starter and divided the minutes? Maybe this would have helped his career longevity
Definitely one of my favorite players to watch when he was in his prime, I remember him making Jason Terry fall, Steph said he was the hardest point to guard
He was one of my favorite all time point guards too. I worked with a guy in the navy who met Coach Sloan and explained why Utah drafted DW8 instead of CP3
@@jameswright7851 Well he actually told me he saw/met Coach Sloan at a restaurant right before that draft and Coach Sloan said he was choosing Deron because he was a bigger, stockier point guard who had tight handles. It was not necessarily obvious that Deron Williams was the best player on the team. I also felt that Ray Felton cooked the Illini backcourt in that National Championship Game. Injuries and his beef with Jerry Sloan derailed his career.
That and Paul Pierce wanted him to lead the team but he didn't see that in himself.
He also had beefs with 2 guys named Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett.
What was the injury? I swear him & Mike Bibby are the only players to fall off with no major injuries lol
