Such things happen when after a battle or any sequence that changes party members places. The conversation iniciates with the closest character to the iniciator. Apparently Astarion was the closest to the Kuo-Toan priest. It's unfortunate and cannot be changed because that's how the game works that EVERY character can start conversation with any NPC. Although it's perfectly possible to make option change that convesations after sequences to be continued only by the one that started it before it. Weird why Larian didn't implented such thing.... oh well.
