I will never truly understand, how Gary could play like that. That guitar is like a living thing, telling a story. The mastery behind that playing was unbelievable. Gary, you are sadly missed :-(
EXACTLY. 👍 BRAVO. 👌 One does not have to like "the Blues"; but you have to acknowledge this guy's genius - if you want to be taken seriously. He was a f***ing *LEGEND*. I will tell all kids: "If you want to be able to seriously talk about music, you have to listen to this song (and guy) like you listen to Bach, Mozart and Queen. (And AC/DC.) All of them geniuses, legends, masters of their craft.
Damn what a song! I heard more words than from a normal song. And yes he tuned it mid solo. Fucking LEGEND! What an artist! I FELT this song in my bones. RIP Gary!
I feel privileged to have seen Gary live at a small festival. It was amazing! We were feeding of of him, and he was feeding of of our energy. I will never forget it. Rest in peace maestro😥
You’ve witnessed greatness. A master of dynamics. Slow to fast, soft to loud. A perfectionist with soul. A great cover of the Roy Buchanan classic. One of Gary’s influencers.Good stuff guys.
That's some of the most emotive and expressive guitar playing I've EVER heard. His playing is just mesmerizing, his phrasing, sublime, his arpeggios are INSANE. He's left us a mighty legacy of excellence to strive for and a plethora of gorgeous music to enjoy for ages to come!
Gary Moore is one of my two favourite guitar players because he is the king of expressing emotions on the guitar. He put everything he had into his playing. Also, he could do it all. Jazz? Check. Jazz Fusion? Check. Blues? Check. Rock? Check. Metal? Check. Write a solo for the Traveling Wilburys in 5 minutes that effing George Harrison didn't feel qualified to write? Check. It's one thing to excel in one style but a completely different thing to be able to go toe to toe with almost any guitarist in any style. He's also the only player I could listen to play 30 minute solos without getting bored. His phrasing was excellent. I don't know any other guitarist who could go into a complete shredfest in the middle of an emotional song without destroying the feeling of it. Truly exceptional player taken from us way too early. And the tone. OMG, the tone. And not only with this special guitar, with any guitar he picked up. edit: oh, and I absolutely love how he always adjusts the volume knob. For ever part he plays he adjusts the volume so it is perfect for what he wants the guitar to say at this point. Absolute mastery
I also wound get board if Iommi did and extremely long solo or the late Peter green. Who is my favourite blues player of all time. He was Gary’s favourite as well.
He didn't just play that guitar, he told a story, an amazing, epic story...and his entire being was there, his soul spoke through that guitar ❤ I've never experienced that before, I'm speechless. A true legend ❤🙏
Gary wasn't just "a guitarist". He was a guitarist's guitarist. I saw him live on his Wild Frontier tour in 1987. He was a major influence on Miyako from Lovebites. You can hear it in her solos.
An original song by Roy Buchanan, the master on a Telecaster. Gary is absolutely fabulous [following him since Skidrow] but Roy put the soul into this song.
single handedly the most moving and soul stirring performance of all time PERIOD, Gary was more a conduit between the world and his guitar than a player. His soul is front and center in his playing and this was his ultimate example !!!! Thank you for keeping him alive guys great reaction !!!!
I'm a huge Gary fan and have been since the 70's. The kind of emotion he gets out of this solo, Still Got The Blues, Story Of The Blues, Seperate Ways, etc..comes from one place. Pain. He had to have a hole in his heart deeper & wider than the oceans to make an instrument convey such a powerful message.
@@edmiley729 I’ve seen Gary many many times and actually got to spend a couple of mins w him when he opened up for Boston in Seattle a few years back. Consummate gentlemen and a hell of a player Ed !!! City Sunrise, Fade to Blue and Bert’s Lounge are some of my favs from him !!! The whole Endless Summer II soundtrack is mesmerizing !!!!
@@edmiley729 I’m a dork I totally misread my bad Ed apologies 🤣🤣 !!! Yes agreed you wonder where he found those emotions for those notes and bends. you also have what I feel is pure joy in “Blues for Narada” which is still prob my favorite of his - hearing the guys in the back ground in the recording of that is so damn cool. Couldn’t imagine being able to witness a creation like that !!!
The guitar is the legendary "Greenie" (Peter Greene gave Gary it around time he left Fleetwood Mac) with its wrong wiring making it unique. Kirk Hammet has it now.
Hahaha, that guy in the blue shirt was making faces in the beginning, but halfway the song he was so impressed by Gary mastering his guitar, he was getting quiet.
Gary was and is my No.1 guitarist, had a pleasure to see him twice, second time opening for "that little old band from Texas" ;) Only guitar player, who can still make me eyes wet with instrumental song !! For example, check out The Prophet from Gary !
Gary is one of the greatest of all time. His vibrato is almost unmatched except for Michael Schenker and Stevie Ray. Pretty good company!! That Les Paul he's playing was given to him by the legendary Peter Green, who had the most incredible tone and was with the original Fleetwood Mac.
Here's a fun fact for you.. that 59 Les Paul Gary's holding is one of the most collectible les Paul's there are.. owned by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac before him way back in the day.. was purchased by Kirk Hammett for a reported $2 Million dollars... some years ago.. not sure if he still owns it..
Wow! that guitar is on full power and he decides how much feedback is applied with his pressure on the strings. I like that Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad plays the same way with the guitar having feedback.
You both started off trivialising this iconic performance, both looking like fools, but it did not take long for The Master to bring you both into line and be humbled before one of the greatest guitarist that has walked this earth. RIP Gary. Your Les Paul 'Greeny' lives on with Kirk Hammett now.
YOU TALK ABOUT THE "TONE" ON THE GUITAR. THE GUITAR THAT HE IS PLAYING BELONGED TO (PETE GREEN) FROM THE ORIGINAL (FLEETWOOD MAC) & IT WAS GIVEN TO GARY BY PETE FOR A PALTRY AMOUNT OF MONEY
It's like those facial expressions are needed in order to squeeze exactly the sound he wants from his guitar. He, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Healey and Joe Bonamassa are just some of the greatest modern-day blues guys.
When he did this one live he let his whole heart out through the guitar. When words failed him the guitar spoke for him and expressed everything he couldn't do otherwise. He improvised a lot during the live performances. He is greatly missed. This song was the last encore he did the second and last time i saw him live 1990. How many guitarists can manage to just keep on playing with 5 strings?! That's what Gary did when playing a tune he said a string broke "5 string Stumble then!!"
Wasn't fully appreciated when he was alive, he was just extraordinarily good and could play All genre's of Rock and Blues just an amazing, amazing guitarist, I was lucky to see Him on a number of occasions.. R.I.P Gary Moore 🎸

Great job guys, I really appreciate people admiring the one and only sir Gary Moore, however, I would consider making a reaction for the best song for him called ( Separate Ways live) which I personally believe that is the greatest song ever in the history. cheers guys

This is a great version of a Roy Buchanan song. Roy turned down the Rolling Stones when they asked him to join. That's why Ron Woods is in the band. Check out some of Roy's stuff.
The guitar Gary plays has a very interesting story to. It's called the tiger Gibson and once belonged to Peter Green co founder of Fleetwood Mac. After Gary passsed away it was sold in a auction to Kirk Hammit from Metallica. He payed a lot of money for it. over five million USD. Mr Moore makes this guitar breathing and alive. Unique combination! Thanks for sharing.
