For your information, Gary Moore is a true guitar master. He has an extensive background in "heavy metal" and "progressive jazz fusion" music, dating back to the late '60s. His career is long and storied.

I've been playing for 40 years, pro for 30 and have been lucky to have worked with some great named musicians. This is beyond doubt the best guitar performance ever. The Les Paul (the Peter Green which is in now in the wrong hands!) was on ice for 2 days after so I heard.

How anyone could leave him off any list of the greatest players ever is mind blowing to me, you just rarely see him mentioned and it is truly insane!!
Thank you for the reaction and I really appreciate your insight into his playing. I am not a player, just never could grasp it, but the guitar and the players who truly come together to make magic are to me the most beautiful and brilliant combination music has to offer..

Mentioned it before, worth taking your time to listen to the audio on UA-cam from 'We Want Moore' of his version of 'Shapes of Things',
that solo, gotta be top ten best live guitar solos, and Gary in peak form, imo.
There's an 'octave run' section in the solo, but it starts with a musically brilliant EXPLOSION of sound that's always given me shivers since I first
heard it when the album released.

Greetings and Love from Germany again. Awesome reaction, buddy. THE MESSIAH WILL COME AGAIN.... More feeling, emotions, extraordinary talent, expression, stage presens, showmanship, love for playing his instrument, passion to inspire and delight your fans, is not possible. Only Gary can do that, in my opinion. I was lucky enough to see him live on stage once. Here in Cologne, Germany on his "After the War" tour in 1989. Before he switched to the Blues. Unimaginable and unforgettable experience and defently a lifechanger for me. But hey, i really appreciate the fact that you haven't said a single word about Gary's death but only about his music and his skills and that shows me what kind of person you are. And you know so much about guitar techniques, amazing, but above all very helpful for me. I have no idea about it and therefore can't usually assess certain parts correctly. 'Was that something that only 2 or 3 guitarists could do? Does this sound so unbelievable, but it is very easy to play? And if someone like you, with your knowledge, is already amazed and can only shake his head, then I know. You're awesome, my greatest respect and thanks for that. I've experienced completely different reactors. Those who think they are allowed to judge Gary because they have read rumors and speculation somewhere in the dirty press regarding his drinking behavior and his death. Those are the worst. They make me just wanna puke. I have been friends with Gary's youngest sister Patricia for over 5 years and I know the truth. And I can only say one thing: People, please don't believe anything that's in the newspapers or magazines. Let the private side of an artist be the private side. I wish you and your loved ones a peaceful weekend. And stay safe...

You make great observations. Really know your stuff. I saw Gary Moore lots of times live. He was in a class of his own. When he hit the scene in the early 70s, he blew people away even at 17. He's one of Joe Bonamassas greatest influences. Huge everywhere but the main public in the US. But among musicans, also in the US, he's often no 1. If u like insane blues playing, check out his tribute to Jimi Hendrix at Fenders 50 year anniversary show. He blew every other guitarist off stage with his performance of Hendrix' Red House.

Gary moore had full control, as you see full volume control all the time, he could turn it to the full without blasting.. Fast or slow play it was always full of soul and feeling.. The 10 sec. Boost he makes is all worth it.. you should see the loner live from Sweden in 87 that is also out of this world.. The true master nothing less .. Btw the guitar he uses is the "Greeny" les paul 59, He got it very cheap from Peter Green , he had it for 30 years.. The pickup was wired wrong so it has that out of phase sound wich is cool and it is now owned by Kirk Hammet.

like i always say, there's 3 "virtuosos", STevie Ray, Gary Moore and Jimi Hendrix ( those play without thinking), then come the others like Slash, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page (maybe i could put Jimmy in top 3 but i cant removve anyone), Buckethead, Brian May and Marc Knopfler, sure i might miss a few but top 3 , its just not how they play , they set up their sound so well , its masters thats it :P
