Silver Surfer and the Human Torch were done pretty well in this movie. Definately a heads up. Also I liked Chris Evans in this role a lot.
Galactus is done wrong. He is a cloud in the movie.
@@biguy617 Haven´t said a thing about Galactus. I only talked about Torch and Surfer.
@@biguy617 yea he said nothing about Galactus dude. Read better next time
I love him in this role bc I get to see this bulge from his suit.... 🍆
FACTS but they did Galactus like Parallax in Green Lantern
You have to admit, they absolutely nailed Silver Surfer. I hope they get it right in the MCU too.
I know it's goofy, but to me it's Saturday morning cartoon stuff, and should be enjoyed as such.
only thing i hated is that he doesnt get his powers from the board
MeTube Yeah out of the few things these films did justice, Surfer is at the very top. The action and power level of the character was portrayed pretty good, his characterization felt like Surfer, had great casting for him. Here’s hoping the MCU does him justice too. And obviously the MCU NEEDS to do Doom and Galactus justice, which won’t be hard compared to what we have so far lol. But two of the greatest Marvel villains in history need their proper care, ESPECIALLY Doom since I’d argue he’s THE greatest Marvel villain of all time. He’s like the Darth Vader of Marvel and he’s reduced to well… what we’ve had so far in live action 😢
@@rileyribble6733 Totally agree!
I remember seeing him in theaters as a kid. At the time it was like seeing spider-man in the mcu for the first time, I lost my mind lol... then they showed galactus😑
@@robzombie4441 He does though?
Fun fact, the general was originally supposed to be Nick Fury, and Reed's speech to him about respecting his friends is directly quoted from a conversation between Reed and Nick in the Ultimate comics.
That's Andre Braugher whom I live next to in East Orange
Fantastic Four are in the ultimate comics?! Sweet!
@@supremedream1764 Yup, though there are a few notable differences, like the entire team being a lot younger, their powers coming from an attempt to travel to the Negative Zone, and, like in these movies, Doctor Doom being a former member of the team who gets his powers from the same accident... except those powers include indestructible metal skin, acid breath, and razor-sharp metal quills that can be fired as projectiles. Also he has goat legs.
Silver Surfer must have flown by Holden and Jens old house
Flew past Jens soul
Man, the way they did Johnny in this movie was really dope. I really hope the mcu shows how powerful he really is. I mean, my guy has omega level powers which they hinted in the first movie when Reed said he could burn the planet if he got out of control. And in both movie, he was essential in taking down Doom.
EXACTLY 💯
Iceman is another character im hoping they really show how powerful he is when he is introduced
I thought Laurence Fishburne was a good choice for the voice of the Silver Surfer, and the part where Ben tells Victor Von Doom "I like the part where he knocks you on your ass" was hilarious.
Not a fan of that part.
Watched this in theatres even back then silver surfer looks good & now as an adult watching this movie he still looks great
Holden: There's Goku
Jen: Who's Goku?
Holden: The name of our unborn child of course!
I heard that director Tim Story and Jessica Alba did not like each other at all when they were making this movie, as Story complained that Alba couldn't cry on camera and had the VFX artists digitally insert tears running down her face in some scenes.
Alba said that she threatened to walk away from the project if Story didn't treat her with respect.
Tbf alba was treated awfully on these fipms
@@bobdob6293 So badly, she quit acting.
I feel kinda bad.
Liked these movies so much.
Didn't realize it was that bad behind the scenes.
The global press tour on the special features of part 1.
Neither Alba or Story weren't near each other and now I understand.
Her account wasn't that she couldn't cry on camera but she said that he said that her crying "looked too real. Too painful" and "Can you be prettier when you cry". Finally telling her to just not act like she was crying and they'd just cgi tears in.
Jessica Alba isn't a great actress but she shouldn't have been mistreated
The movie is a guilty pleasure for me. I never had problem with Galactus mostly because i didn't know anything about his comics looks. Johnny with all the powers was my favorite part.
This movie is worse than the first movie. Doom and Galactus are done wrong.
@@biguy617 stop crying baby girl
@@biguy617 stop whining about an almost 16 year-old movie. We get it, they did those characters wrong and they aren't good or accurate portrayals of the characters. But that's in the past, nothing your whining will do to change that. I'm sure we'll get a great F4 movie with Marvel Studios in the very near future.
SAME HERE DUDE 😎
Same but after finding out what Galactus really looks like the cloud is Ass
Silver Surfer was always my favorite comic book character, he was portrayed pretty well in this movie. Can't wait to see him in the MCU
But who will be the actor of Silver Surfer in the MCU?
@@johnsantos507 no idea. Probably be CG with a voice actor like this version
@@byron7583he was a real person tho when he lost his powers
My favorite Stan Lee cameo of all time. "Who are you?" "I'm Stan Lee" "Sorry you aren't on the list" "BUT I'M STAN LEE"
Boston face reactions are priceless. ❤️🦡😅
Like I said in the last F4 related video I say here again: Don't let this movie continue to ruin your perception of Dr. Doom, and definitely don't let it ruin your perception of Galactus. I can assure you, the REAL Galactus is not just a cloud🤣
As a side note, the final battle with Johnny having all their powers is really cool because it’s pretty much the concept behind the Super Skrull. Super Skrull has the powers of all 4 members of the F4. He’s an extremely underrated F4 villain and I’d love to see him in the MCU someday
With the Skulls out there and F.F. on the way, they can't shrug off thus opportunity.
@@k.delpino1124 and kang
Galactus is beyond physical form since he is a remnant of the previous universe. He presents in humanoid form in comics because the artists need a way to show a threat that the average person can easily understand. It's stated that the mind of the perciever will form Galactus into a form that it can conceptualize. Other lifeforms in the universe say he appears to them in a form that they can conceptualize so Galactus appears different to each type of lifeform. The cloud form here is how they tried to show the scale of a force that devours entire worlds. It's hard to make that look good on screen and trying to make a big purple suited man-like being would be just as hard to present and be taken seriously.
@@unlimited971 please believe. No shrug on him.
I actually liked the cloud look for galactus, and there's nothing to say his humanoid form isn't I'm there somewhere
Stan not being admitted to the wedding was an homage to the wedding issue of the comic; in that, both Stan Lee and Jack Kirby were turned away from the wedding.
Lol. I'd actually forgotten about that. The wedding issue was a real milestone for Marvel comics.
The Holt locker scene totally got me great reaction as always guys!
I’ll always love the human tourch vs silver surfer chase scene
same
It's ironic how Chris Evans played both Human Torch and Captain America bc in the comics Torch was the one that actually found Cap in the ice
No. Human Torch did not find Cap. He was found by the Avengers.
Human Torch found Namor, burned off his beard, dropped him into water, and broke the mental conditioning impoaed by Destiny I.
Maybe it’s nostalgia but I absolutely love this film, the chase scene with Johnny and the silver surfer especially. I know the concept of the power swapping is looked down on, but if it was a comic you would say to yourself “That would be a cool movie”. I feel like both F4 films are just fun and a good watch at its core.
Yes the Things eyes are blue in the comics. He's even famously referred to as "the ever lovin blue eyed Thing".
By his Aunt Petunia in fact.
@@k.delpino1124 oh for real? Dope I didn't know that.
It was a crime that they didn’t use Joe Satriani’s song “Surfing with the Alien” in this movie.
What I like about these films is that they are lighthearted and don’t take themselves so seriously. The chemistry between the characters is good. It suffers from being in a unique place in the timing of its release, but it’s a fun film if you don’t overthink it.
The Invisible was one of my fav films and I like Chris Evans a lot as johhny storm he's funny and reminds me of the romance comedy films he has done
Doug Jones was the actor behind the Silver Surfer, and they replaced his voice with Laurence Fishburne because the director wanted the "name," one of only two times he's been dubbed in English (the other was "Hellboy" with Abe Sapien). Ever since then, Jones has it in his contract that he does his own voice or he doesn't take the role.
9:50 Literally the best Stan Lee cameo in any movie
I really liked the in the spider verse one as well but this one was good too
It was a big thing in comics at the time of this movie, that superheroes getting married was always interrupted by Earth threatening disaster, or unspeakable traumatic events. If it wasn't the wedding, it would be the Honeymoon. I mean Peter and Mary Jane has obstacles as well as Scott and Jean.
No, Jean and Scott never had any problems at their wedding or on their honeymoon. And many complain about that in the comics, since it was very normal.
Every-time there is a Stan Lee cameo Jen’s reactions are so funny and just make you smile
These FF movies really get the team right. Johnny is the wildcard with a heart of gold but cracks jokes to hide what's beyond the surface. Reed is constantly struggling with giving attention to science or relations. Ben finding himself. Sue being the one to really hold them all together and the the mediator as well as the tempest
22:11- 22:16 I think that's a shot of Galactus' helmet on the planet
I really love this movie it's an absolute hidden gem. I also like to point out that I don't appreciate the first Iron Man getting all the credit for abandoning the hidden identity trope and gave us something different because F4 did it first. Kevin Fiege's magic touch is clearly all over this one which makes for a very fun and enjoyable ride.
I actually really enjoy this movie and how they try to adjust to the fame and civilian life whilst being superheros 💯a bit like the boys and Incredibles ✌🏻
i do actualy like both movies,it does have that family feeling and all of them where like there charcs.
grew up watching this and i love the silver surfer
Regular build Chris Evans was perfect casting for Human Tourch. It was my hopes back then that a Spider-Man of this age and build would have perfect and We would get to the dynamic of their friendship along w/ the rest of the FF. Hopefully the MCU FF will have a mature Reed, Ben, Sue and a young but confident Jonny that can riff w/ Tom Holland. So hopefully Peter will be at least mid way through college .
I love this movie because it's Johny's story. Faced with the possibility of everyone dying and then not being able to do the one thing he loves which is touching people, he's forced to mature and do certain things he otherwise wouldn't have thought of
This movie and Spider-Man 3 had great trailers. That was the beginning of me realizing how you cannot trust a well made trailer.
They fucked up Galactus in this movie but I actually prefer it to the first one.
I went to see this movie specifically for the silver surfer. As a huge Surfer fan i was upset that they toned down his powers so much. I didn't like that they tied his powers to his board when in fact his powers were granted to him by Galacus and his board is an extension of his powers not the source. I really hope that they correct all this when Surfer and Galacus finally show up in the MCU
man let's just wait for a *good* F4 movie first, let alone SS or Galactus. 3 movies, 3 garbage films. 4th time's a charm hopefully...
@@Vendrix86 The first one was decent
I think the first one was better all together & a more re-watchable fun movie. But I like that this movie does the invisible woman justice by making her more valuable & showing off her strengths by truly spotlighting her powers
With you
Doom’s look has never been better than in this film. If he truly gets adapted into the MCU as many have been speculating, I hope they make him look something like this.
Doom is not stronger than Thanos he only becomes strongest of them every Marvel villian when he gets beyonders power he becomes god emperor doom
Boston is so derpy! I can't take it 😆
Did she actually just say "Who's Goku?"
I love this movie (and the first one too) but I like this one more. I like how Doom came back because nowadays all the villains in movies only last for one film so it made the universe feel more alive that Doom came back cause yeah, if Doom had survived, he would’ve crawled his way back and found out how to take advantage of the situation in order to get whatever he wanted.
I don't know if you have it in mind, but you should do a video of Jen reacting to the Fantastic Four remake in 2015. That would be interesting!
Hahahah loved the Brooklyn Nine-Nine / Silver Surfer cross overs.
😆
Funny thing is, silver surfer is still powerful with or without the board. In the movie they made him quite co-dependent on it.
Yes! Wasn’t expecting this next one so soon but yes!!!!
Regarding Deadliest Catch, I met Captain Phil a few months before his death. He was seriously one of the most real and down to earth people I’ve ever met.
That’s so cool! I love The Deadliest Catch and Phil was the best ever. A hard ass with a heart of gold is what I always thought he must have been in life.
That's awesome I love that show it used to come on Tuesdays last year
Dying at the Brooklyn 99 capt holt references 😂😂
I love Holden bursting out laughing with the face palm every time they made a goofy choice with Reeds powers haha
Silver Surfer has very quotable lines, Fishburne's delivery is on point! Like the first one, it's an okay movie for me. Although Doom was not portrayed as grand scale/larger than life like the comics, he still pretty much had a classic Doom plan where he stole someone's powers. They could have added a little something to his character here, making him basically want to save the Earth alone which is a Doom trait, so yeah he was just kind of there in the story just to complicate things a bit, he didn't progress as a character and he could have.
Fun fact: Spider-man has fought Doom several times on his own in his original comics.
I don't understand why people are so hyped about Galactus and how better he could be portrayed. Galactus is basically Armageddon, it's a being that "eats" planets to feed himself. There's not much of a complex story that you could do with it. Sure he was a cloud here but other than that, he was portrayed exactly as he is. A story can be made of course, but Galactus is just a world-ending threat, there isn't a character there like Thanos or Kang has. Oh well...
HAHA Bostons reaction to the dogs barking
I wonder if they'll ever do a story about Reed and Sue's son Franklin Richards who is legitimately maybe the strongest character in Marvel ever. He has a huge list of powers including reality warping, teleportation, energy manipulation, and the ability to make pocket dimensions. He's probably a little too OP for a movie tho
Yup 😁 that too when he is just a kid they are unable to do justice to even Thor how can you expect them to do justice with Franklin Richards, phoenix, protege, molecule man the list is long and finally beyonder .i think they can't even do justice to inhuman beyonder leave aside pre retcon beyonder and MCU is giving hints of making secret wars
When this movie came out, my local movie theater got a huge Silver Surfer promotional mannequin with his board. He's been displayed ever since and I love seeing him every time I go see a movie. If you're interested there's a Silver Surfer cartoon made in 1998 that's on Disney+, it's a good short watch
I saw this movie in 2007 in Fiji and then when to London to see my pregnant aunt with my grandmother and we went to the London eye the giant ferris wheel which is still pretty cool memories for me as a 12 year old boy at the time
23:10 I have heard of breaking the forth wall 😂😂 that was hilarious Holden
I got a huge crush on Silver Surfer when I was young. This brings back memories. =]]]
Dont know if yall are familiar with the books but i recommend reacting to the Percy Jackson movies
Man I love Silver Surfer in this movie I hope in the MCU they do him justice
And so does Galactus. We want to see what he look like in the real life movie.
- I'll have to say, don't get your hopes up man, because 99% of the time when someone tries to re-do a movie or character, they almost always ruin something in it, if not the entire movie. I almost never like when they take a movie and try to just "Make it Again" for some dumb reason (Obviously to parasitically milk off of a past success), not many people agree with me, but I think the Michael Keaton version of Batman was the best, and anyone with a lick of sense would agree that Jack Nicholson will never be topped as a perfect Joker, the man is an unstoppable Legend, I've never seen him play a bad roll. So, in closing, lol, I do not expect that when they try to re-create the Fantastic Four in MCU, they'll probably ruin it like usually happens - Maybe people wouldn't agree, but I feel like the other remake whatever of Fantastic Four was not very good. And of course, re-casting will no doubt be a large part of what will make the new MCU version less desirable to viewers - Now, so far in the MCU I feel that nearly every movie they made was pretty damn good, I was slightly disinterested in Iron Man #3, just felt ... meh, and Multiverse of Madness felt so "Not right" to me, just a kind of chaotic story about a powerful girl and other than introducing the "Multiverse" thing, didn't seem to accomplish much for me - I figured maybe it was just a one off bad luck thing, but then Love & Thunder, honestly was pretty bad, didn't care much for it at all - the best part of the entire movie for me was the screaming goats joke. My thoughts as to why? I feel like the loss of the Master of Marvel Mr. Stan Lee happened shortly before they made Multiverse of Madness, so since both of those two movies came out afterwards, maybe they just can't be made good without him now
~ SHRUG ~
Holden: They couldn't make this scene today! They flew him into China to do this?
No Holden, they flew him to Japan 💀
I love the early 2000's Fantastic Four movies with Ioan Grudduff as Mr Fantastic, Michael Chiklis as The Thing/Ben Grimm, Chris Evans as Johnny Storm FLAME ON ROASTING 😂 (who's been Captain America for almost a decade) and Jessica Alba as Sue Storm
22:14 Well at least they gave us a shadow of what Galactus actually looks like, and not some floating cloud thing!
I saw this in theaters and I remember enjoying every second of it. Of course I own both movies on DVD and have watched them both numerous times over the years😄
23:30 You have officially made my day with that Kool-aid Man sound. Thank you. Was a good laugh.
Boston's side-eye at the dogs barking 🤣
Just before Captain America, Chris Evans starred in a movie called Push in 2009. It was probably the lackluster response to this movie that had him not wanting to be another superhero. Push was just 2 years before The First avenger, though. Honestly Push was hopefully supposed to end up being a HUGE franchise as well I had heard. There were plans to make many more movies, but it didn't get the response that was needed to justify any sequels.
I watched this a few days ago ! haha great timing. Laurence Fishbourne nails the SS role
The Ferris wheel in London 🤣
Hey Holden & Jenna, did you guys know that the standin body double for the silver surfer was actually Doug Jones, he also played billy butcherson from Hocus Pocus
I think these are fun movies. I would never describe them as bad. Sure, they're not in the same tier as some other, more serious super hero movies. But they're fun to come back to.
Fun fact about Stan’s cameo is that in the silver age of comics Sues and Reeds wedding (which was the first time they got married) there’s a comic panel where all of marvels A list characters at the time attended it people like Spider-Man, Xmen, Ironman, Captain America and even people like Norman Osborn or James Jonah Jameson and all the way in the back there’s two shadow figure by the door and it’s Stan Lee and Jack Kirby trying to get into the wedding. Which I find this cameo as one of Stan lees best cause it has story behind it
interesting
Just to throw in some obscure easter egg for once:
The soldier (captain) that Johnny flirts with is named "Frankie Raye".
In the comics Frankie Raye was the daughter of Phineas T. Horton the inventor of the first Human Torch (Marvel Comics #1 August, 1939) who was an android that fought together with Captain America and the Sub-Mariner in WW2. (there is a super small cameo of him in Ironman 2)
By accident Raye got fire powers, too and took on the alias Human Torch aswell.
Later she became a herald of Galactus.
I think the studio was planning ahead with the character for possible future movies.
So glad u brought up "The Invisible" such a good movie! Great reaction already ya'll🖤
Hey, something I have in common with Jenn! I went to basic and Fort Lost-in-the-Woods, too! (Though many, many years earlier).
"They flew him in to China?!" HOLDEN, THAT WAS JAPAN. 😂
I think it was Doug Jones who was Silver Surfer (except for the voice, of course). The same actor who was the fish man from Shape Of Water, the other fish man from the 2 Hellboy movies, the Faun & monster with eyeballs in the hands from Pan's Labrynth, & so on.
Having watched the reaction to this movie. I couldn’t help but see the helmet of Glactus. At the scene where his shadows goes over the moon.
Great reaction 🎉 🫶🏻
Whoa I didn't know jen was in the army, I also did my training at Fort Leonard Wood so that was kinda nice to hear what was her mos
Reed "Evey planet the sufer goes to become lifeless"
Holden "were they not lifeless before?" 🤣
Fun Fact: that female soldier who is unimpressed with Johnny, is Frankie Ray. In the comics, after Silver Surfer, decides to leave Galactis' side, she end up as one of his next "heralds" and takes the name Nova. I'm unsure as to whether Galactis' made her more or less powerful than Silver Surfer, though.
Her outcome in a potential 3rd film would've been realized.
Until it was canceled
she also has a relationship with human torch so johnny hitting on her throughout the film was pretty much a nod to their relationship in the comics
In the comics, she was the stepdaughter of Phineas T. Horton (creator of the android Human Torch).
[The android could be seen as an Easter egg in Captain America: First Avenger.]
Frankie Raye was exposed to chemicals and had her own flame powers, took the name Nova, and trained with the FF.
She later agreed to replace Silver Surfer as Herald of Galactus and was upgraded to survive and travel through interstellar space to find worlds on which Galactus fed.
Whenever I see Michael Chiklis on screen, I always shout "Vic!"
3:43 "Who's Goku." Is Jen ready for 575 episodes of DB/DBZ/DBS???
STOP IT JUST STARTED AND THE "Who's Goku?" Killed me
R.I.P. Andre Braugher.
"the ferris wheel in london" is like saying "the statue lady in new york" 😅
-Jen “Ah Fort Leonard wood! Where i went to basic!”
Ahhhh Fort Lost in the woods lol I had a few friends there while I was in relaxin Jackson 😂 great reaction as always!
I honestly love you guys
That’s cool didn’t know you went to fort Leonard wood, I’m stationed there now
Fun fact: the surfboard's actual name is "Toomie" after years of the Surfer saying "To me, my board!"
The story line is actually taken from Fantastic Four comics issues a 48 thru 50 the Galactus trilogy. The Doom taking the Surfer's power was issues 57 thru 59.These were some of the best written by Lee and drawn by Jack Kirby. Were a sensation back inthe mid 60's. You can find copies here on UA-cam.
I do love to hear that Holden has SOME comic book knowledge, so he can filter that to Jen in bites that she understands. Since they are incorporating the Fantastic Four and Spiderman in the same universe, I'd REALLY like to see the Original Sin event done proper in the MCU. Its a long ask, I know... but it really helps you understand just how much time and effort Reed Richards put into doing the one thing he is unable to: fix Ben.
the brooklyn 99 theme music had me rolling on the floor. the timing was perfect
two puns that earned the sideways look but didn't follow it up with "talk about stuck between a rock and a hard place" when they revealed Reed behind the thing in the wall.
Silver Surfer has always been my favorite Marvel character... So I remember when the first teaser dropped for this movie. It was essentially just the chase scene with Johnny chasing the Surfer, Surfer catching Johnny by the throat, flying into the outer atmosphere, and dropping him...
Imagine my surprise when the movie came out, and that was the only scene I liked in the whole thing... Why is it making it seem like Surfer's powers come from his board? That's not a thing.
And why does Surfer kill Galactus? He can't do that, because Galactus is where his Power Cosmic comes from... So even if he could kill him, he wouldn't still be the Surfer, he would just be Norrin Radd, and he would suffocate in the vacuum of space...
And I was very vocal in the theater, when it ended, I stood up in the quiet theater, with my mom, friend, and her dad right next to me, and shouted, "That was bullshit!" At which point half the crowd had a mix of agreement and laughter.
Then the mid-credit scene happened, and my friend said, "See, he's fine, he survived."
And slightly quieter than before, I had an outburst of, "That's even worse! At this point, it would have been more justified if they DID kill him. This movie sucked!"
The biggest disappointment of my life, to date, hands down. And I have had a lifetime of disappointment.
The four powers ending up in Johnny reminded me of Super-Skrull. I thought that was pretty dope for a silly round about way of doing it.
So funny enough the whole switching powers thing takes inspiration from the super skrull.
John Krasinski was on The Graham Norton show and they asked him about almost playing Captain America. He said that he actually got to the stage of putting on the suit. He said he was nerding out while he was trying on the suit and then he saw Chris Hemsworth walk by in his Thor outfit and John immediately started removing the suit saying "Nope can't do this".
Cloud Galactus.. ugh.. That took away any excitement that I originally had for the movie.
*Jen at the start:* Wishing for FF2 to be just a bit better than the first one
*Those of us who saw both:* GULP!” Sorry Jen!”
*Jen, at the end:* “I actually liked this one better!”
*All of us:* 😳 “... Hummmm. OK then!” 😅
I liked this one better also
I liked this one better to galactus aside
I also liked this one better. I mean, Silver Surfer was dope.
Gotta love Holdens love for The Invisible
Fun fact Andre Bauers character was originally going to be Nick Fury before Kevin Feige vetoed that idea and decided to put Nick Fury in Iron Man
I LOL'd at the "OH YEAH!".
Sliver is my favorite victor returns of course
Power switch cool
Love the reaction Jen and Holden
