They're not high quality in technology. It's a brand premium price. They have a nice physical design and make you look cool to other similar people which is what you're paying for.
The majority of the $150 price tag goes into marketing. That's why only $10 is actually spent on making the product. If it weren't for marketing beats would probably cost $50 at most.

So to add a little more to the story here, when Beats were originally setting up ties with Monster, Monster made a huge mistake which is what eventually lead to the partnership split. The meeting where they were setting up the contracts, the owner of Monster sent his Son who was highly regarded by the owner in contract negotiations, so he went but only by himself. Beats however, were represented by Dre and an absolute ton of lawyers specialists in contract negotiations. So literally you had 1 bloke on 1 side of the table and a dozen people on the other side. What came out of this meeting was basically, what happened. A clause where Beats could break free after 2/3 years. They then split and set up a similar contract with HTC before then setting up the deal with Apple, obviously Apple are bit more... well let’s just say they seem like the type of company that would “own” any negotiations they are involved with. The rumour mill is on full circle now and what we are hearing is that Apple want to make their own set of premium over ear headphones and then dissolve the beats company altogether, this after using their technology in the beats solo pro’s with their A1 chip etc, they just “own” it.

You missed key points such as when Aple bought out Beats there was a product called the Pill XL and in a short space of time around a year after the product released Apple did a full recall on these. They offered a full refund incl shipping worldwide for the speaker returned to them as there was a fire issue with the product and/or its charger. Almost 18 months after the announcement of a new replacement speaker they then released the Pill + which, although its sound is good, its more compact and is nothing compared to the XL which im happy to say i kept a hold of and am happy i did as ive never yet had an issue and it stil turns heads esp in Apple stores among many employees

Monster also handled sales and distribution. They needed the established distribution infrastructure and leveraged Monster very successfully in this regard. Taking over the distribution was critical to their successful transition out of the partnership with Monster. HTC was a contractual “out” for Beats to help them capture control over Beats Electronics from their partner. Fine print in the partnership agreement is how they emerged from their ties to Monster. Monster was never a “parent” company,
Not all beats headphones except for the EP's are wireless. You can still buy wired beats. Maybe in production, although I wouldn't even be sure of that. Many retailers still have Beats Solo 2 wired editions. I got a pair of Beats Solo 2 Luxe Editions in July, brand new and wired. I'm not a fan of wireless headphones, so I was specifically looking for wired headphones, but I didn't have to look far. They've very easily and readily available from many retailers to this day and still prove to be somewhat popular. A lot of people like myself just don't want a bluetooth device draining their battery, as well as having to charge the headphones themselves. I'd rather have the wired connection drain my battery a little than have to charge my headphones AND have them drain my battery.
I’ve had the solos that lasted less than a year; when the side of the headphones adjustable sizing piece ending up snapping while I was using them; mind you they were on my head, not while adjusting them. I had the beats studio headphones which lasted less than a year as well. The fake leather like material that covered the foam that cushions the ears literally came “un-glued”, I was pretty upset due to spending almost 300$ on them. My idiotic brain thought it would be a good idea to purchase the beats ear buds which AGAIN didn’t last a year as the speaker piece fell off the ear piece. I’ve learned my lesson of buying beats. Never again will I waste my hard earned dollar on a cheap product like beats headphones.
Comrade Doggo I treat everything I buy as if I spent a million dollars on it. My experience is just my experience with their products. Maybe I kept getting lemons who knows. I’m happy yours has lasted as long as they have, Good for you.

5:02 @Apple Explained those are Beats Executive. Not beats Exclusive. They were named that because of their high quality all aluminum frame/body and the premium leathers used on ear cup, head band, and the back side of the ear cup surrounding the brushed aluminum beats logo.
I bought the beats studio 3 because they were on a $150 off sale going for $200. They're solid and I have no complaints with them but they definitely aren't worth paying full price for as you can find much better headphones in that price range by other brands like Sony

The $9 construction cost was for the 1st gen Beats and they are crap. However, not for solo 2 and solo 3 wireless 3 that I have. It's saying the early crap model of Hondas back in the 1950s vs a 2019 Honda Puris. Sure Puris is no better than Benz or Tesla in the quality and cost of construction but they are reasonably reliable especially they are at the $200 range but not $300 since mid 2018. Lots of discounted for new beats solo 3 these days and they are okay in sound quality. I didn't know it's a "fashion statement" when I was buying my Beats solo 2 and 3 wireless. I simply tried them out and they are okay and portable with long battery life. Of coz they are not as good as my B&0 H4 and H9i but they are not as terrible as some people say especially when they are on discount.
@@ethangilbertmedia No I'm not. Bass on Beats is very good but other than that, they're not great. I've tried many headphones but none seem to go overboard with how punchy the bass is on the Beats line.

I’m I the only one who remember beats music is was a prettt good app when I was in high school I miss the old days
Did anyone else have beats on while watching
Now we’re here in 2021 and Beats hasn’t made another over ear headphone yet.
It's sad that the iPhone 7 doesn't have a headphone jack Bluetooth will never sound as good as analog wired

I feel beats is overhyped product, not sure how many feel the same.
Yes it is,You could get better value from AudioTechnica and Sennheisser.
DSK dude anyone who can recognize good quality headphones feel the same
Honestly they don't live up to the hype
I’m listening to this with Beats Headphones
Listening on sennheiser momentum and so should u, invest in real audio not in a Beats logo
Same here ^^
ronnie tjikoeri yeah
Listening in my qc 35
Sennheiser is the best followed by Bose, Sony, AudioTechnica.
HD201s here! They are THE headphones for $23. Better than $40 JBLs.
Monster was never a “parent” company,
I legit had a pair of beats for one month and it doesn’t work anymore
My Dollar Store headphones lasted longer
my name's V2
Are you sure they war legit beats did you buy them from a retailer or from ebay?
@@backcountryadventure1813 retailer
Thats craaaasy brooooo
@@eggington1522 retailers sell bootleg stuff all the time. If it's a good copy, they don't even know it's a fake.
I watched this with beats lol
I am personally not a fan of Beats, but I enjoyed this objective look back at Beats.
My beats Studio 1's have lasted 7 years, pretty clear that you didn't take care of them lol.
Comrade Doggo I treat everything I buy as if I spent a million dollars on it. My experience is just my experience with their products. Maybe I kept getting lemons who knows. I’m happy yours has lasted as long as they have, Good for you.
"to address a couple of issues when it came to the way people where listening to music. They felt people needed over priced head phones with below average sound out put. So was born Beats by Dre." XD
listening this on beats solo 3
Same. Matte black. Matches my iPhone
You can get a good pair of sennheiser or beyerdynamic for that price..
Lol me too
LennyTheChicken -_- Same❤️❤️ Rosegold
burn it and buy bose
I want some Bose!!! The quality sound is amazing and super comfortable.
In my opinion JBL headphones have amazing sound quality but that's just me :)
They sound amaazing , 3 yrs ago my big brother had JBL's and I would ask for them all the time, almost went def how long I used them. In Febuary, I got the JBL tune 500bt. They were awesome. Also, I owned the beats solo 3's but JBL Tune 500bt sounded very similar for only 50$. Now I gave away my JBLs when I got my Studio 3s and I'm in love with them.
@@mr.waffles9434 I'm getting some math dsr7s to replace my solo 3s, I can't wait!
I got a pair of the Beats Pro's for only 149.99 because I got the discontinued Lil Wayne red and black ones. they are nice for relaxing but I leave it to my studio monitors to get a good clear picture of the sound. Great Video!
2:53 who is that? An actress or stock image?
I have beats studio 3 headphones and Powerbeats 3 earbuds and I love them and they are my favorite kind of headphones. I think they have great sound and no other headphones look or feel as nice as beats

@Apple Explained
those are Beats Executive. Not beats Exclusive. They were named that because of their high quality all aluminum frame/body and the premium leathers used on ear cup, head band, and the back side of the ear cup surrounding the brushed aluminum beats logo.
Who’s listening with Beats?
I bought the beats studio 3 because they were on a $150 off sale going for $200. They're solid and I have no complaints with them but they definitely aren't worth paying full price for as you can find much better headphones in that price range by other brands like Sony
@5:00. Beats Executive, not Exclusive
Yeah I’m about to buy a new pair of power beats but mostly because
Im really active
Im a bass head
And they look really good in my opinion
Im fine with my $30 yamaha headphones
You mention that beats is one of the few who make colorful headphones. Well, they are not the only one. AKG has the Model Y50 which is available in black, yellow, blue red green and many more colors.
My god.. They based their EQ off of what artist think sound good? No wonder they sound so bad.
I don't want a rapper to tell me what sounds good. I want an overpaid german engineer to tell me what sounds good. Because they will actually know.
XDarkComeback I’m planning to buy a beats headphone in 2019...is it a good one to buy?im looking for a headphone that looks good at the same time sounds good.
johns robin I have recently purchased Beats solo 3 I am very satisfied at the sound quality and its amazing appearance it looks really clean and beautiful the sound quality is one of the best I have ever tried I recommend you either buy Beats solo 3 or Beats studio 3
johns robin ignore this dumbass, don’t buy beats, buy from Sony or Bose
beats have decent quality but not enough for the price
Decent Quality? They put hunks of steel in them JUST to make them feel heavier. Their quality is a lie @@trviis
bro I was like "This is so true" even though im a bose and sony fan, they never had variety of color picks
Who else watching with beats
History of Air Jordans?
They sound really good but not bang for buck but I still use beatsX because they look smooth af
This is your best video yet.
If you like super bass, get beats. No bose or Seinheisser can match that. But for everything else, do consider the aforementioned.
NightcoreCentral this is a joke right?
@@ethangilbertmedia No I'm not. Bass on Beats is very good but other than that, they're not great. I've tried many headphones but none seem to go overboard with how punchy the bass is on the Beats line.
B stands for beats stands for bass so It conclusion it’s good for bass. 😂
@@Kofi_Mensahs_BurnerAccount Have you tried Beyerdynamics line as well? I've heard they have some awesome bass response.
Sebasty never heard of them if I'm honest. I tend to try out different headphones every couple of years.
A lot of people have beats or Bose or whatever, meanwhile I’m content with my Turtle beach headset for like everything. I think it’s pretty obvious I’m not an audiophile.
Update two years later: Yeah uh I was a dumbass for comparing Beats to audiophile stuff lmao. I still use my TB heatset for PC stuff because I don't have anything else, but my Sony XB900Ns are so much better (with a custom EQ).

Beats headphones are being sold for $200 to $300, but all components, drivers, cables etc have a total cost of $10. They spend a lot on marketing (Bose anyone?!) so the profit margin is large. I have great respect for Dr. Dre as a music producer, but the headphones...
I am using the BEATSX to watch this video
GG FORTNITE GOD same. The bass on it is better than my earpods and the vocals are weaker than it
