The original Doink was a legit technical grappler and made a really good heel - once they replaced him with a different wrestler and made him a face the character never recovered.

at the time Bam Bam the game was released Bam Bam main evented wrestlmania 95 and then was being pushed as a top babyface after that. this was 94 heel Doink played by Matt Borne who was a great heel character.
This game ruled my childhood even by today's standards it's still good game!! I mean just looking at it you would never think it was a game from about 27 years ago
still a very fun game to play. i still play through the arcade game. if you know the moves it's very playable and very fast paced. probably the most fluid and fast game i know of that is fun at the same time. In Your House was goofy fun but not nearly as playable.
I loved this game. I had both the SNES and Playstation versions at different points in my life, and me and my friends went out of way to master all the moves for all the characters, which was difficult at the time because the internet wasn't really a thing and we had no instructions.
the game came with an instruction manual with the move set for each character though... it didnt have the combos. no internet but there was a strategy guide magazine you could buy at 711 lol
I’m from Chicago. Manow Radio was big back then and you can see one of the audience members wearing a Mancow shirt. I was bummed as a kid when the SNES and PS versions didn’t have the Mancow audience member. Oh, the problems I had as a kid LOL
The lower point on this video is the LACK of wrestling history knowledge...But still a great analysis of this very underrated game (with a outstanding roaster for me)
Okay.. does this girl have a clue who these wrestlers were? No respect to Yokozuna, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels or Razor Ramon. I don't think they watched wrestling during that time.
Lmao, when he introduced the girl as a wrestling fan with knowledge of the sport I was awesome cool. Then she spoke, lmao please go and do your research on wrestling, you have no knowledge what so ever. It’s like a 20 yr old girl got Wwe network and now thinks she’s a pro lmao. Cringe to the 10 power
Yokozuna was the survivor of a Casket Match and was the reason Undertaker died and came back as the Prince of Darkness in 1996 so of course he's popular.
Does anyone remember if Doink has a very strong uppercut move where he sends you super high up in the stadium to where the lights are? I dont remember if I used to do it or if its a false memory.
Miguel Garcia I think he had a super move like that in WWF Raw. I never really understood how they worked, but he would punt his opponent out of the ring. Diesel also chucked dudes off screen. Weird moves for that game (which wasn’t designed to be as silly).
That game is WWF Raw which had 2 glitches, at least in the SNES port. You can beat the referee with a bucket outside the ring forcing him to stand ringside like a manager. You can also beat your human tag partner on top of your CPU rival on top of the turnbuckle which causes your human tag partner to die if you do it in Brawl mode with little health. Once your human tag partner dies, you literally become a ghost who can walk all over the game screen and only attack by doing dropkicks.
Bugged the hell out of me there's no music in the game, why couldn't they have added it as redbook? But I suspect it was a glitch they couldn't patch, as the music mysteriously begins to play when you finish the game :S
if I remember correctly the music would at times stop playing at random times in the SNES version too. it did have the ability to play the music though. I also thought this game sucked and was really pissed after buying it. my brother and I shoveled snow all weekend, ringing bells and walking the streets. when we finally got enough we were so excited. then after playing it for about a half hour we both realized but didn't want to admit that the game sucked.
Yokozuna was a tag team champion in 95. Razor Ramon was a 2 time intercontinental champion in 95. To say that Yoko was no mantaur shows how little she actually knows about wrestling. Bam Bam was also popular around the world. People to this day are still copying Doink and Matt Bourne passed away years ago. The game was crap and the fun wore off in less than hour but the roster regardless of what she says was solid for the time.
alex was right about yokozuna...sort of. by ‘95/96 yoko was running on fumes. the guy just wasn’t as popular as he was when he was the top guy in 1993.
so girls want equality and here is one who knew jack about wwe and them you wonder why boys have an issue. jeez this really annoyed me how rubbish her knowledge was. WHO WAS YOKOZUNA?? are you kidding me???
I always loved the PS1 version of the game. The PS1 version is the best console version. Usually I would favor the Saturn but the Saturn version is missing the rope shadows and other things. Developers did a sloppy job porting the Saturn version.
Are u f ing kidding me, was Bam Bam, Yakuzu, et all on this bid....seriously... I grew up in this in the era. I am of, AWA wrestling, whomever these experts are, are misinformed or ignorant to pro wrestling. BTW, that was the bomb of a game, at the time.
I love how when she's talking about people that are left out she brings up the worst examples. Ever heard of Diesel? Owen Hart? Hunter Hearst Helmsley? GOLDUST? I could go on
if anything Luger was the the flop in the bunch. they tried so hard to push him as a main eventer in 94 and he never got over like they wanted him to. by 95 when this game came out he was tag teaming with British Bulldog and then left and went to wcw.
@@theungreatkahli that was so funny with the mishmashed theme lol most notably when they came out to that theme at Wreslemania 11 and then botched a double powerslam lololol
Wow, your "expert" seemed to be a bit lost - Shawn and Bret's feud wouldn't start until 1996, Yokozuna was a MAJOR star and was always treated as such - even by 1996 he was Upper Midcard at worst, and the Undertaker was ICONIC! Luger got a main event push in 1994! At the time of development (mid to late 1994, I'm guessing) there was no doubt they were HOPING for him to become the next Hulk Hogan (it just didn't turn out that way), She left out the fact that "three of the four" Doinks were little-people brought in for just one 2-month program...all and all not an important fact that was not worth mentioning. Plus Doink is a colorful character that would (theoretically) attract non wrestling fans, or at least give them some variety in the roster. Speaking of...that just reminded me how boring the roster must look on wrestling video games today, so few colorful characters left.
yes you are right, she was a little off. this game was more representative of early 1994 roster before wrestlemania 10 hence why Shawmn Michaels is still wearing his cow zebra print tights. and that is Matt Borne evil heel Doink not the colorful face Ray Apollo doink with the midgets.
She also mentioned people like Mantaur and Duke the Dumpster Droese, when those characters likely wouldn't be on a game like this back then. She left out Diesel, who was the champ at the time, Owen, Bulldog and someone like that who wasn't in the game but likely could've been.
@@theungreatkahli you are right, at that time they probably wouldn't have included lower midcard guys in the game. it would have been cool if the game had a larger character selection. at the very least it would have been cool to includ Diesel but at the time of game development i think he had just arrived as Shawn Michaels bodyguard and wasn't even wrestling matches. i think Diesel arrived the Raw after wrestlemania 10 which is around when this game was being made. not sure how far into 1994 that they were capturing their digitized images for the game and if they could have included Diesel or not.
Sorry, Alex... not to be mean, you did not watch wrestling. Even Doink, who was not the best character, was still pretty popular when I was in school. WWF (Fuck WWE) was still No.1 when this game came out. You watched this first, then WCW. IT wasn't until NWO!!!!! that WCW really took off, and that was because of HOLLYWOOD HOGAN and STING!!!!!!! LONG LIVE NITRO!!!!!!!! But it was a good time in wrestling, because WWF had STONE COLD and THE ROCK!!!!
i knew all characters very well.. they were all cool and relevant in my book of WWF.... i lov this game !! :) had hours finding out the biggest grab-combos.
This game deserves a remake with Attitude Era's top stars: Undertaker, Austin, Rock, Triple H, Mankind, Chyna, HBK, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, etc.
Ummm you sure Alex is a fan of wrestling? her knowledge seems very much lacking indeed. This is going to be a long post but I need to do some cleaning up here. 1995 was a lean year for the WWF, WCW was starting to get popular, Not long after the game was complete, WCW debuted Monday Nitro to compete against WWF RAW and the Monday Night wars unfortunately began. Not only was WCW on the ride, but the steroid scandals, WCW luring some of their top talent over, especially HULK HOGAN who was the star of WWF for almost 10 years. It was actually amazing the game would be made at all during this period. It would only get worse for WWF over the next few years. The Roster of wrestlers is no accident, In a game, now only is there balancing and variety to consider, But the roster was very much picked due to circumstance of the time. I'll go in order of the selection grid DOINK THE CLOWN- Many wrestlers were Doink, Started by the late Matt Bourne, by then it was Ray Apollo who, and who portrayed him in the game as well. Doink was incredibly over at this time regardless of who was playing him, originally begun by Matt Bourne as a heel [villain] evil clown type character and was always at the very least in the midcard match. He never won belts but it didn't matter, the gimmicky nature of Doink certainly drew, people were buying tickets and Doink merchandise, the Gimmick never really disappeared, always reappearing somewhere, somehow. That's quite a legacy in wrestling to be almost immortal and having others play the gimmick rather than the other way around. RAZOR RAMON- Aka Scott Hall, was very over [popular], very VERY over at this time, especially comming off of the ladder match with Shawn Michaels at Wrestlemania X, considered not just one of the best ladder matches in wrestling history, but one of the best matches, period. Multiple WWF Intercontinental champion at that point, and was even slated as a future World Champion at one point had he remained in WWF. Razor Ramon was on the rise then, he would end up jumping to WCW but there was no denying his popularity, Razor enjoyed some of the highest Merchandise sales during the time too. THE UNTERTAKER: What more needs to be said? If there was an icon for WWF/WWE? Taker would be it, he's still there after 20+ years, remained popular despite vast changes in audience and generational shifts. He tried getting away from the dead man gimmick but it was too over and came back ot it. Back then, Taken was not only over, But also dark, in an age where everything was so colourful and larger than life. Still despite his legacy, multiple world champion to say the least, longest undefeated Wrestlemania streak . It would have been a wonder had he NOT been included in this game. YOKOZUNA: How you dismissed him is frankly jaw dropping. Multiple world champion, AND a member of the Samoan Anoa'i family which basically made him royalty in the buisiness. He was THE monster heel for much of the early 90's, by 1995 his career was beginning to wane but went strong for a couple more years. His addition to the came's roster is a no-brainer considering when it was made and released, back in Wrestlemania X, I imagine about the time when the game began production, He was in a double main event for the world championship, 1st against Lex Luger, and 2nd against Bret Hart. How Alex dismissed him so easily is beyond me. SHAWN MICHAELS: Solo Career was relatively new at the time, By Wrestlemanix X, He just had what was considered one of the greatest matches in history with Razor Ramon, losing the intercontinental belt meant he could began his ascent to Main event status, and did he deserve it. Easily one of the greatest of all time in professional wrestling, as far as in ring and mic talent. His behaviour backstage left much to be desired, irrelevant though to why is he in the game. Multiple intercontinental champion, future world champion. Fantastic in the ring. His greatness showed even back then, is it any wonder why he made the roster for the game? BAM BAM BIGELOW: The man has been a solid performer for many years. He never won any belts in the WWF, but that doesn't matter. He is considered one of the most underrated of all time. At the time, he was being groomed for a huge match with Linebacker Lawrence Taylor which was considered a huge attraction for Wrestlemania XI, and Bam Bam managed to work it well when such matches are usual disasters. He was phenomenon in his own right as a big man who was able to move like he was man a 1/3 his weight and size, amazing agile with remarkale cardio with the strength and presence of a very large man, his inclusion in the game's roster makes alot of sense with these qualities and the gimmick. BRET HART: Another family of wrestling royalty, the Hart's. And Bret himself distinguishes himself indeed. Holding every belt in WWF multiple times. Has been the face of WWF until the Attitude Era began and still being in the upper card to main eventing during this time until his jump to WCW. His in ring work was second to none, His wrestling was sublime, a technical master. Considering his status and pedigree at the time, It would have been a scandal to not include him. He was one of their biggest draws, having mountains of fans, his mic skills were awful, but it didn't matter. Bret was loved around the world and if anyone was going to be chosen to be on a 1994/1995 WWF game, it would be him. Especially after comming off a 5 star match with his brother Owen at Wrestlemania X, And winning the belt against Yokozuna, soon to have the feud of the decade with Shawn Michaels, and an up and comming Steve Austin. LEX LUGAR: If there was someone to scratch their head for their inclusion, it was him. But still it could be understood why. Lex Luger at the time, was THE WWF ideal, with a huge muscled and chiseled body, At the time, Hulk Hogan had jumped to WCW, And the Ultimate Warrior was not in the company anymore and in very bad graces, two who were well known for their physiques we not available. Lex Luger was an attempt to be the next physical specimen face of the WWF. to the point where he was given the All American gimmick and pushed to become world champion, having recently been in a main event match for the world belt against Yokozuna and lost. But he was never able to gain any momentum. He was at the top of his physical game back then and quite a sight to behold. WWF's attempt to push him would make sense as to his inclusion in the game's roster.
DC Frank Very, very well put. You gave a pretty much spot on summation of the characters in the game and the era of WWF/WWE. He should've got you for this video, and not that gal who thinks Yokozuna was a jobber.
Every body on this roster was either a heel (Doink, Yokozuna, Bam Bam Bigelow, and Undertaker) or transitioning from a heel to a face (Razor Ramone, The Heartbreak Kid, Brett "The Hitman" Hart, and "The Narcissist" Lex Luger) at the time this game came out, and me and my friends love (or really hated, like we were suppose to) every single one of these dudes. The only other characters we wanted in it was the Legion of Doom (tag team), Demolition (tag team), and Ultimate Warrior (wcw at this point) To the question of if we liked them. One of them did so well they bought a hockey team. Does that sound like we liked them?

at the time Bam Bam the game was released Bam Bam main evented wrestlmania 95 and then was being pushed as a top babyface after that. this was 94 heel Doink played by Matt Borne who was a great heel character.
I love how Midway aka Now known as Neither Realm Studios did Bam Bam r.i.p to him how they made the flames on his outfit move around.
I always thought that was really cool. It's reminiscent of how they had Raiden on MK with the electricity sizzling around him.
@@sororitysleepawaymortuary1659 Back in my day we didn't use strategy guides. It was trial and error.
I’m from Chicago. Manow Radio was big back then and you can see one of the audience members wearing a Mancow shirt. I was bummed as a kid when the SNES and PS versions didn’t have the Mancow audience member. Oh, the problems I had as a kid LOL
I think he was at the Slammy Awards in 1996 too. I seem to remember him on stage with Bob Backlund presenting some award.
the disrepect to Yoko by this girl ..
Wtf? Yokozuna was pretty famous in the mid 90s ....
The Sega 32X and MS-DOS versions of WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game are closer to the arcade version of the game.
The lower point on this video is the LACK of wrestling history knowledge...But still a great analysis of this very underrated game (with a outstanding roaster for me)
Danny didn’t know Doink before this? Man, Danny didn’t know WWF at all.
Okay.. does this girl have a clue who these wrestlers were? No respect to Yokozuna, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels or Razor Ramon. I don't think they watched wrestling during that time.
Thank you for pointing that out.
I felt so disrespected.. just the whole view of what they thought about the game
Doink was pretty popular. I got to meet him at a wrestling show with The Iron Sheik and Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake. They were all very nice
Wwe in your house was fun too wave underrated
wtf? Yokozuna I though was popular. I loved him. lol he was also kin to the Rock I think.
Yokozuna was the survivor of a Casket Match and was the reason Undertaker died and came back as the Prince of Darkness in 1996 so of course he's popular.
She smoking some good shit, some of the shit that came out her mouth was cringing the hell outta me😬😬😬😬😬
Kevin Nash tore his quad playing WWF the Arcade game.
IIRC every character except Bigelow had an uppercut like that
That game is WWF Raw which had 2 glitches, at least in the SNES port.
Bret, Taker, Razor, and Doink all had uppercut moves like that, yes.
Don't forget about the undertaker uppercut.
Bugged the hell out of me there's no music in the game, why couldn't they have added it as redbook?
But I suspect it was a glitch they couldn't patch, as the music mysteriously begins to play when you finish the game :S
Stop being everywhere, you smiley dude .o.
if I remember correctly the music would at times stop playing at random times in the SNES version too. it did have the ability to play the music though. I also thought this game sucked and was really pissed after buying it. my brother and I shoveled snow all weekend, ringing bells and walking the streets. when we finally got enough we were so excited. then after playing it for about a half hour we both realized but didn't want to admit that the game sucked.
Funny thing I noticed: people who didn't liked WMtAG usually played SNES version, and people who liked it had Mega Drive one.
Holy shit. I loved this game. Mid 90s shit.
This was one of the best wrestling games growing up.unfortunately the people that are reviewing it have no idea what they're talkin about. 😢..
LOL! I was going to type the same thing.
The Genesis port was the one I owned as a kid which was far better than the SNES port and had no slowdown or load times like the PS version.
Agreed
I WISH WRESTLING GAMES TOOK THIS APPROACH AT GRAPHICS.WITHOUT ALL THE CRAZY MOVES , JUST PURE WRESTLING MOVES.
That's what I wanted at the time too. I thought it would have been awesome then to have WWF Raw's gameplay but with these graphics.
WWF Wrestlemania - The Arcade Game! I love playing this on Genesis and PS1. Very fun game, despite the short roster.
Yokozuna was never a jobber lol he was a monster heel with a monster push!
Undertaker was the truth in this game
Today I love Digital Eclipse & Gearbox software, but as a kid, Probe & Sculptered Software were the bomb.
No mention of razor huh? Lol
i don't think this dude is a wrestling fan. maybe a very casual fan from a certain reference point.
alex was right about yokozuna...sort of. by ‘95/96 yoko was running on fumes. the guy just wasn’t as popular as he was when he was the top guy in 1993.
so girls want equality and here is one who knew jack about wwe and them you wonder why boys have an issue. jeez this really annoyed me how rubbish her knowledge was.
I have this in good condition the booklet is in pristine condition
WrestleFest was the best arcade wrestling game ever!!! It's still just as great today as it was in 1991....
DAMN DISSING YOKO IS A NO NO , RIP YOKO RIP DOINK RIP BAM BAM
I love how when she's talking about people that are left out she brings up the worst examples. Ever heard of Diesel? Owen Hart? Hunter Hearst Helmsley? GOLDUST? I could go on
Exactly
Silly thing, I actually consider the 32x port to be the best version of the game, had it's flaws, but it still was way better than the PS1 version.
Ah lads all of the wrestlers are considered icons .
How u gona bag on doink and yoko?
if anything Luger was the the flop in the bunch. they tried so hard to push him as a main eventer in 94 and he never got over like they wanted him to. by 95 when this game came out he was tag teaming with British Bulldog and then left and went to wcw.
Sorority Sleepaway Mortuary Yeah, remember they had that wacky music. They just mixed the two guys' themes together 😆
@@theungreatkahli that was so funny with the mishmashed theme lol most notably when they came out to that theme at Wreslemania 11 and then botched a double powerslam lololol
You never heard of Doink the clown before reviewing this game? Wow. You must of been a late 90s fan.
Wrestlemania The Arcade Game was great on the Super NES.
Wow, your "expert" seemed to be a bit lost - Shawn and Bret's feud wouldn't start until 1996,
Yokozuna was a MAJOR star and was always treated as such - even by 1996 he was Upper Midcard at worst, and the Undertaker was ICONIC!
Luger got a main event push in 1994! At the time of development (mid to late 1994, I'm guessing) there was no doubt they were HOPING for him to become the next Hulk Hogan (it just didn't turn out that way),
She left out the fact that "three of the four" Doinks were little-people brought in for just one 2-month program...all and all not an important fact that was not worth mentioning. Plus Doink is a colorful character that would (theoretically) attract non wrestling fans, or at least give them some variety in the roster.
Speaking of...that just reminded me how boring the roster must look on wrestling video games today, so few colorful characters left.
Oh shut up
yes you are right, she was a little off. this game was more representative of early 1994 roster before wrestlemania 10 hence why Shawmn Michaels is still wearing his cow zebra print tights. and that is Matt Borne evil heel Doink not the colorful face Ray Apollo doink with the midgets.
>Yokozuna wasn't popular
He was a monster heel. You sound like a mark.
This is better than the current game
This game was unique and fantastic. The end.
*I ACTUALLY FORGOT HOW AMAZING THIS VIDEO GAME LOOKS . IT'S DOPE .*
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
no other game is as good as this it had this weird vibe every character had special move in this game. i could play this all day without getting bored
Razor Ramon was the coolest, Chico!
DOINK BRAH! You're making kids cry BRAH!
Doink and yokozuna weren't popular? BS, every wresler wanted to be the one that defeated yokozuna. And the crowd loved doink when he turned good guy.
We need a wrestling federation that would consist entirely of Doinks
Juggalos?
Historian. No. She is so very wrong. Danny stop doing wrestling games. Try Mario
Thanks for taking the time to produce this video.
No ultimate warrior... no go.
Loved this game. In Your House was a disappointment though.
i knew all characters very well.. they were all cool and relevant in my book of WWF.... i lov this game !! :) had hours finding out the biggest grab-combos.
This game deserves a remake with Attitude Era's top stars: Undertaker, Austin, Rock, Triple H, Mankind, Chyna, HBK, Kane, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, etc.
I don't know about this so called "expert".
She's a bit off with her "knowledge" of the time period.
This was the “New Generation” era. Her input wasn’t very helpful.
I S W R E S T L I N G F A K E ?
I'll go in order of the selection grid
DOINK THE CLOWN- Many wrestlers were Doink, Started by the late Matt Bourne, by then it was Ray Apollo who, and who portrayed him in the game as well.
I had this on super Nintendo
This game was very popular y’all are to young to be talking about this if u don’t know the characters
Most love for the Funkster!
The only other characters we wanted in it was the Legion of Doom (tag team), Demolition (tag team), and Ultimate Warrior (wcw at this point)
To the question of if we liked them. One of them did so well they bought a hockey team. Does that sound like we liked them?
