I still remember my dad picking me up and taking me to his house to spend the weekend with him only to find out that he got me a super nintendo with slam master... Man I ran back at him and hugh him for minutes.
Waiting for him to set up the console in the tv was eternal waiting time... Man I love my old man!

I loved slam masters. Everything you could want in a wrestling game then. Solid moves. Intuitive controls. Colour ,sound all hyped up. Loud audience. It felt like a wrestling game should feel. Something you'd not see again until the N64 WCW/Nwo games and Wrestlemania 2000/No Mercy.

Bam Bam Bigelow was awesome- not only one of the best big man wrestlers, but a genuine hero, who once saved three kids from a burning building in his street, suffering 2nd degree burns to 40% of his body. The flame tattoos on his head weren't just for show.

3:55 Bam Bam Bigelow is a legend, widely considered one of the greatest big men in wrestling history, and he (together with Luna Vachon) was featured heavily on Raw at the time of the game's release.
As for the 1-2-3 Kid and Doink, they were hugely popular at the time. When 1-2-3 Kid won against Razor Ramon it helped kick start one of the hottest angles of the early to mid 90s American wrestling: Razor's face turn (and taking the Kid under his wing and teaming up with him) and his feud with Shawn Michaels. The Kid starting off as a jobber and getting a win over Razor, arguably the biggest heel in the company at that time, did a great job of establishing Monday Night Raw itself as a must-see show for wrestling fans because it was broadcast live and it gave the impression quite literally anything could happen there: a jobber who looked like a 16 year old might just score a win over an established main eventer. Now babyface Doink was a bad idea, that's gotten even worse with age, but there's no question he got a huge pop whenever he showed up in 1994, so I understand why they made him part of the game's roster. I'd say this is a pretty good representation of their most popular active wrestlers at the time.
Sure, Jake the Snake and Ric Flair rank way higher as all-time greats than Doink or the 1-2-3 Kid ever will, but they weren't in the WWF anymore when this game came out. 🤷‍♂️

A lot of people still don't know rhat 123 Kid is Sixx / X Pac who later went on to way more success than Flair or Jake in the WWF. But those same folks likely also don't know that Flair and Jake were already over years before going to WWF either

As for the roster change from Royal Rumble to Raw. Ric Flair, Randy Savage and Mr Perfect had all switched to WCW at that time.
Bam Bam Bigelow, 123 kid and Doink were some of the most featured characters on the roster. At the time WWE only had a small roster of maybe 20 singles guys so this was probably the top 12 singles guys in the company at the time.

Royal Rumble was my favorite WWF game on SNES as well. However, you scoffed at Doink the clown as most people do but his heel run when he first debuted was awesome! As a matter of fact, he was getting over so well as a heel that people were starting to cheer him. Because it was before the attitude era they felt the need to turn him babyface and it killed the gimmick. Also, Matt Borne (original Doink) was fired around this time so the character was never going to be the same even if they turned him back heel.

I was really hoping that you'd cover _Funaki Masakatsu Hybrid Wrestler: Tougi Denshou,_ as it really is a fantastic gem of a game. Each wrestler has a diverse moveset, there are some wild match types that are unlike anything else in any wrestling game, and there's even a CAW mode that involves learning moves, getting married and fostering a prodigy, and having to retire because you start losing stats and moves due to the ravages of time. It isn't as complex as the _Fire Pro Wrestling_ games, but it is a damn good alternative. It also has an English patch available, which makes it more accessible than most games from Japan... although an instruction manual for some things would still be nice.

Me and my best friend used to have a blast playing Royal Rumble way back in the early 90's. After an hour or two of kicking each other's asses, our fingers eventually got tired from all the mashing. At that point, we'd up the difficulty to max, pick our least favorite character, intentionally get thrown out of the Royal Rumble, and then spend the next 20 minutes watching the computer duke it out and rooting for our favorites. In April, I bought him a CIB copy and put it in a protective case to give him. He doesn't own a SNES, but that game is on display in his house.

The struggle to find a great wrestling game is real on the SNES. I know a lot of people were fond of the WWF games on SNES but they probably weren't ruined/spoiled by Pro Wrestling on the NES. That game is king among wrestling games, and is mechanically superior to any licensed WWF or WCW game by far (on the NES or SNES), and it was made by ONE GUY! Teams of people failed to deliver a product of comparable wrestling value (in North America) until the THQ N64 games made their mark almost 15 years later. Meanwhile Japan got to keep all that wrestling goodness to themselves with a zillion Fire Pro Wrestling games (the spiritual sequels to Pro Wrestling), makes me sad...

Also Goichi Suda aka Suda51 directorial début was with Super Fire Pro Wrestling 3 Final Bout, and also did directing & scenario writing for Super Fire Pro Wrestling Special. Shawn Michaels jumps in the air and spins horizontally and kicks, if the opponents near the ropes they go flying out of the ring. Yokozuna jumps off the ropes and cannonballs, any wrestler in the ring gets knocked to the floor from the earth quake. Every character has a specific move and they're all hilarious.

What made WWF Wrestlemania: The Arcade Game the joke that it was was not only were there only 6 wrestlers, the game was produced and released in 1995; during that entire year, the WWF World Heavyweight Champion was Diesel and the Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, for much of 1995, was Double J Jeff Jarrett and neither were featured on the game.

    Reason for the bucket -
Yokozuna’s manager (Mr. Fuji), would carry it around. It was filled with a chalk like powder that he would throw into the face of his opponents and blinding them.

Well to be honest after reading more of the comments you could go different directions as to why the bucket was included from Doink, The Godwins, and also Yokozuna all used for different reasons.

Raw for Genesis was the first wrestling game I ever played with outside interference. There are hidden super moves as well. I once through Doink the clown up in the air and off the screen as Diesel.

It’s all about graphics evolution. Super WrestleMania was a leap up graphically and movement-wise from the NES WrestleMania. Royal Rumble is great, a step up in motion from Super WrestleMania, but it was also undercover a lot of the same graphics as Super WrestleMania.

Super Wrestlemania was the cover game of my first ever subscription issue of Nintendo Power. I subscribed with a deal where you got the year's earlier issues as well (an important bonus, since this was the year of the Super Mario World and Link to the Past comics), but THIS issue (April, I think) was the first I got. I was a loyal subscriber until the magazine ended.

The good thing about SNES games is that, even though the video is 7yo, it's still accurate, as I don't remember any new games being announced for the SNES, in the last 2 decades or so...

Raw was the first game I ever soft locked as a kid. Hit my brother with the bucket. Then I think I hit him with the bucket, but also hit the button to throw weapon at the same frame he would have taken damage and it just hit this weird loop to calculate damage. The character just glitched in place in a painful looking stance and would no longer move or take damage. The way the character was holding their face made us think he was bleeding. Only fix was to reset the game.

To be fair dude, on the WWF games, all of those wrestlers were 'over' at the time, and were the ones running around at the time. Like Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior were memories at the time WWF RAW was out. The 1-2-3 Kid was getting over as hell too.

I think in the last Zen Nippon game you are given the ability to create wrestling cards. The neat little feature to that is during the earlier matches the seats aren't full. But the closer you get to the main event the seats gradually fill with fans. I love little details in wrestling games they used to deliver.
