That was true. But Professor X injected us Street Fighters with Mutant-DNA to upgrade Hadoukens and almost every other special & super move for us to help face against the Apocalypse.
This was literally my favorite arcade game as a kid. I used to dominate with wolverine and charlie or ryu. Kids would line up trying to beat me for hours, even wanting to fight me lol. My biggest streak was like 25 wins. Good times
I picked up the import Sega Saturn version at EB back in the day and was blown away by how amazing it was!! My friends and played the game to death and I was able to keep my Saturn going with other imports at that time.👍👍👍
I had Saturn Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers 3) and it was basically a next gen system because the graphics/animation were so far beyond what PS1 and N64 could handle. If you could get over the 3D obsession of the late 90s. the Saturn was doing miraculous things. The 2D games on DC and PS2 were no better than Saturn w Ram cart. I didn't get Street Fighter Alpha 3 on Saturn until years later around 2004 but I genuinely think it's the best version of that game including arcade and Dreamcast. IMHO games like Vampire Savior, SFA3 and these Vs games are the best looking/playing games of entire 32 bit era, more every year as the 3D games of the era age so poorly.
Loved this, thank you. So for my part: Only one thing really bothered me that evolved from these games, as it changed comic book "reality" as well. But over the years, I've also concluded the change is for the better, even though many artists don't abide by it: these games ended up making the Hulk "smaller" than Juggernaut (when initially Hulk was same size or slightly larger in cannon. That said, I think it would work better if artists actually did abide by this change, at least some occasions.
Could you do a Psychic force analysis? It was a favourite of mine in my 20s but I seem to be the only person who remembers it's existence. Love the content, only found you a few weeks ago and I'm getting through the backlog lol loving every minute.
Psychic Force was amazing! Me and a friend of mine played it way too much and we were the only ones who knew about this game... which kinda sucked for us.
I never played this game but it looks like a lot of fun. I played X-Men children of the atom on PlayStation and Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 in the late 90’s early 2000’s and loved both. Man I miss those days!
I remember when this hit the Arcade in a Mall I worked at. At first I didnt believe my Friend who told me about it. The idea was so crazy I never thought it could happen. During my Lunch Break I ran down to the Arcade and could not believe my eyes.

Excellent memories 😊😊😊 , did not care of the defects the port had , back in my era games never where arcade perfect 😢
A lot of times whatever you play the most seems amazing. I played SFII on SNES to death so I think it's as good as the arcade even though I know that's irrational. The Saturn got beat to death that its multi-platform 3D games weren't quite as pretty as PS1, so it makes sense for Saturn fans to point out how much better 2D fighters look on Saturn. Wipeout and WipeoutXL are still really fun on Saturn the same way your XmenVsSF was fun on PS1...but the gaming media in the US went totally ballistic on tiny details comparing the 3D games. The Saturn with the RAM cart is pretty much arcade perfect on Capcom fighters way up to a game like Street Fighter Alpha 3 in 1999. PS1 was an epic system, but that generation should have been more of a three horse race than it was in US, it's a mix of dumb choices by Sega and also hype for PS1 that got rolling.
I played Marvel Super Heroes Vs. Street Fighter in the arcades at varsity and loved it. When I went home during a break I found a copy of Xmen Vs. Street Fighter being sold in a CD shop. The same shop was also selling a copy of Metal Gear Solid as well but I had only enough money to buy one game. I was aware of the fact that MGS was a great game but I loved my fighters and went with XvSF instead. You can imagine how I felt when I discovered that the game I bought did not have the tag feature. At the time I couldn't understand why. I was so disappointed. Make things right Capcom, make a collection of the Vs series of games.
X-men vs street fighter had the best music next to the original street fighter 2 and marvel vs cap on. Seems like capcon forgot to add good music in the later titled with accepting. Of street fighter 5

Gaming journalists had a pro-Sony bias, even then. First they complained the game was over-saturating the fighting genre. Then, they were outraged when CAPCOM said it would be SEGA Saturn exclusive due to the hardware. And finally, they were outraged when the game couldn't be ported accurately. I mean, what? The mediocre port couldn't possibly be the fault of Sony & the PlayStation's 2D hardware & RAM limitations, right? 🙄 Gimme a break!
All those years, I’m still stuck at 29 wins on survival, even made my own Ryu combo you won’t find in a game mag. Wouldn’t mind a collection of all the past games, makes some mechanic adjustments, make doom, magneto and thanos available on marvel superheroes, marvel vs street fighter and MvC without needing codes, stuff like that. It’d be awesome and super nostalgia
I remember Gambit still being able to chain his royal flush in the PS version, which could take out even a blocking opponent with full health. I pissed off my roommates in college doing that lol
Outrage??? I remember on a Royal Caribbean cruise we went to the arcade and heard the attract mode in the corner. As soon as we saw what it was we freaked out seeing our favorite X-MEN and Street Fighter.
I had that imported XSF on Saturn with the expansion cart. It was absolutely perfect. I played the later Playstation version. It was trash. PS1 was NOT a good 2D game console. But this game was such a joy. I'd say my favorite of the series though is Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
I’m sorry, but I remember buying this game and being excited! I had no clue of the comparison or lack of frames with the PS version. These magazines were haters.
This remembered me an arcade place that has an arcade that says is for kof, has a paper with the specials of the stret fighter alpha and the game inside is an x-men fighting game
These titles blew me away what games were becoming and they aged like fine wine, I can still stare at this art for hours and love it. Sad unfortunately it seems the 2D fighter genre peaked and never reached that level again. Capcom and Marvel would make millions if they did remaster to day of Capcom Vs Marvel 2 with 4k HD sprites. Except they should dump the 3D backgrounds and do the traditional 2D pixel animated backgrounds from the previous titles.
I loved this game! Both in the arcade and the Playstation version! I was just happy to have a version I could play at home. I didn't care that it wad JUST like the arcade! In fact, I liked it better that way because it made going to the arcade still feel special. Unlike today when everything at the arcade is just enlarged versions of mobile phone games. =/

The mediocre port couldn't possibly be the fault of Sony & the PlayStation's 2D hardware & RAM limitations, right? 🙄 Gimme a break!
Was obvious the moment they brung up Tekken 3 😅
I have fond memories of this game on PlayStation. Never knew the arcade version had full on tag battle.
Could the Switch run this game? In all it’s arcade/Sega Saturn glory? A Vs compilation would be awesome.
22:35 totally spot on, and I bet all these gaming journalists were part of the crowd whining for a Playstation version
That HD quality looks amazing they need to re release all the series
5:40 what is that upscaling shader you're using there?
One of my favourite games of all time!
Children of the Atom, Marvel Superheroes, Street Fighter vs Xmen and Capcom vs Marvel
Needs to be a Collection for consoles
ASAP
How are the graphics this good? The intro looks so clean!
X-men vs Street Fighter. It feels like Go Nagai’s robots pitting against Yoshiyuki Tomino’s robots under real human appearances.
I need this remake this was my first favorite fighting game as a kid and something I was good at
I have this game in an arcade 1up MvC collection, Sega Saturn, as well as my modded PS3 and Vita.
What filter is over top some of these? Some of the stuff like around ~5:30.
It's absolutely insane this game isn't available on modern consoles.
This is one of a good few games that I was happy I owned a Saturn for
I’m sorry, but I remember buying this game and being excited!
I had no clue of the comparison or lack of frames with the PS version.
These magazines were haters.
This is the first game i played seriously in arcades back in the day before i switched to king of fighters 97. Good times.
GREAT SHOW MAN..... love it
This remembered me an arcade place that has an arcade that says is for kof, has a paper with the specials of the stret fighter alpha and the game inside is an x-men fighting game
I remember the first time playing this as a kid when it came back in 96 and 97 I was seven at the arcades I was like, only get one round
Child "Mom, can we have xmen vs street fighter?"
Mom "sweetie, we have xmen vs street fighter already"
Mom holds up PlayStation 1 version.
The first time I played this at the arcade and did the Ryu and Cyclops tag super my mind was literally blown.
"UNCCANY" always drove me crazy
I recall this game being THE talk at school. Nobody was outraged at all. The controversy is a retroconstruct.
Cause outrage because there was no sequel.
X-Force VS Street Fighter?
I still love this game . I have the CPS2 board and Saturn Version
Marvel super heroes vs capcom is better simply because cyber akuma. Such brutal boss, apocalypse was a total anticlimax by comparison.
You mean MSHvsSF?
Cyber Akuma was beast, but a Mecha-M.O.D.O.K. should've been the final boss with "M.O.D.O.K.U.M.A." (AKA "M.O.D.O.U.K.I.") being his invention.
Correct, slip of the type

The more Top Hat Gaming videos I watch. The more I realize the importance of reusing assets is vital for gaming companies.
I miss the old art design. Street fighter is ugly as hell now imo. Those sprites are so delish
