I am also confused, previously when I used the Cap a tread on another with the same brand I am using today it matched. This batch doesn't, there a quite a bit of difference. UGH!
Tania, I used these composite shims from Home Depot: www.homedepot.com/p/7-375-in-Bidrectional-Break-Composite-Shim-Bundle-of-12-SHIM-12-BD/321634110 Otherwise, I'm glad to hear that my video helped and I appreciate your interest in my channel. Damien, Have all of my filming finished and plan to publish it within a week. Considering that you asked about it, I'll try to publish it sooner. If you send your email address to abacon73@aol.com, I'll send you a notification as soon as I post it on UA-cam. Let's Fix It Right
Hey Al, new subscriber here. Not sure if I missed it, but how were you able to get away with having the stair nose flush with the laminate without some sort of expansion gap? I’m going to be matching my stairs and second floor to my main floor laminate soon and would like to achieve the same look you have. Also I’d like to tell you that your channel is great and your instructional style is wonderful.
Sean: Please review 3:17 to 3:30 showing how I glued and screwed the forward section of my stair nose down on top of the landing for maximum strength. Section 3:45 to 3:53 explains that I used shims underneath of my forward nose so the top of the laminate floor on the landing perfectly aligns with the top of Cap-A-Tread covering the stair nose. In addition, I filled the 1 ½ gap with shims (See 4:00 to 5:22). If you have additional questions or need more help, email me at abacon73@aol.com. If necessary, we can exchange phone numbers within our emails so I can give you more details. Otherwise, I appreciate your interest in my channel and subscribing. Do you happen to know what the name of the color/pattern of tread that you installed? I have the same laminate that you have on the landing and I'd like to try and match it if they still sell it. Thank you.

How would you go about getting the cap a tread nose to run flush with the vinyl planks if the planks were thinner than the nose material?

Any chance you could post a summary as a comment for me and future viewers? I’m also wondering about this 🙂

Please explain the shims to get the thickness to the vinyl
This is great! What shims did you use, please?

@@LetsFixItRight thaaaank yoooou! Yes, I will subscribe.
Another question, did you use a table saw to remove the tongue or groove from the laminate?
When is the “exposed end” video coming? That’s the one I really need
