The title change was a smart move. That being said, elsewhere in the world _The Producers_ was titled _Springtime For Hitler._ Sweden then proceeded to name all Mel Brooks films _Springtime For... Blazing Saddles_ became _Springtime For The Sheriff, High Anxiety_ became _Springtime For The Lunatics_ and _History Of The World, Part I_ became _Springtime For The History Of The World._ #TrueStory

I do have to say by having a different name for the movie than the play does make it simpler to distinguish them
