I think this is one you missed. After Simon’s wish is granted, he says, “Long live the king,” which is the same line Scar said to Mufasa in The Lion King.
When Asha’s friends hold the ropes and they jump to open the roof of the castle, it resembles the way that Quasimodo was ringing the bells in Norte Dame. And of course they shout like Tarzan. Other than that, I see Valentino, being a goat, always supporting the main female character as a (wild) reference to Djali, the goat of Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
maybe it's just me but the whole scene of the dinner when Asha has an argument with Sabino right before the song "this wish", it resambles a lot the scene of the argument between Mulan and her father before she decides to join the troops
Also, the scene where Asha meets Star at the wishing well, and then the Star flies through a long barn and comes out on the other end by the Maximus horse SUPER reminds me of that scene in Mulan when she first gets to camp and Mushu starts a fight and Yao Ling and Chien-Po chase mulan through that long-ish tent and come out on the other end and cause the rice to spill everywhere…
Missed ref: near the end of Wish, there is a shot that starts on a belltower and travels down into the town. This is a reference to a famous shot in Pinocchio (the morning he goes to school), which was the most expensive shot in that film.
Here's a Disney reference you missed: During the first scene with Asha and her friends, one of them offers their cookie to another and says, "Take mine." This is most likely a reference to 101 Dalmatians when Roger says, "Take mine," as he offers his handkerchief to Anita.
Asha walking over the bridge in the forest during “This Wish” is reminiscent of Mulan walking over bridge (in terms of composition) like Mulan during “Reflection” sequence.
The dancing chickens scene had the same movements/sequence shots as the dinnerware from “Be Our Guest” in Beauty and the Beast When Asha tries to take the staff at the end, it’s the same movements as when Ariel tries to get the triton from Usula
This is why i love this movie, so many references, like a homage for Disney. And the welcome to Rosas kinda reminds me of family Madrigal, i dont know why. Maybe because of the introductions. The neon green eyes Magnifico (and Simon, at one point) gets, are REALLY reminiscent of Bruno's, when he uses his gift. This is definitely not a coincidence.
Oh, and Safi is also basiclly a young version of Bruno with different hair. It's kinda confusing, since he does not look like this in concept art. I believe they just reused the model for making Bruno's facial structure.
You skipped one Disney reference. The scene in the movie "Wish" where Valentino sticks his tongue out at the wall painting of King Magnifico when Asha was singing was mostly likely referenced from the scene in the movie "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" when Esmeralda’s goat, Djali stuck his tongue out at Judge Claude Frollo right after Esmeralda announced Judge Claude Frollo as "the only fool."

Great summary, and you confirmed my guess about the Atlantis reference. There is a night scene where she looks at a mural of Magnífico in a pool of water and then splashes it away. I think this is a reference to Megara from Hercules in the "I don't think I'm in love" song OR to Simba in the Lion King. Also, a lot of the murals remind me of Atlantis' underwater cave murals that Milo and Kida explore together. Finally, the forbidden book tends to light up from the center like a lot of Atlantis items.

-there are melody references as well. Such as during "What I Know Now" there's a "Be Prepared" reference in the melody at the part where Star pretends to be Magnifico withholding the wishes. Just before the line "Can't they tell we'll be coming?". I don't know where all of them are in the movie though. -Not sure if anyone else noticed it, but Gabo also does the Fix-it Felix hop in the same song. -And them building the castle out of random things around them may be a reference to Sofia the First episode "The Shy Princess" when Sofia and Vivian are building their dream castle in a similar manner.
This is probably just me, but I felt like Magnifico might have also been inspired by Doctor Facilier. Not just in terms of their magic, but both also coax people into making deals with them under the guise that they’ll get something out of it, only to pull the rug out from beneath them and ultimately leave a negative impact on their life in some way. Again, probably just me, but still.
I can think of one. Remember when Gabo says, "What are you, five?" I think that may have been thrown in there to allude with Grumpy from the 2010s Disney show, The 7D, because he says the same thing in some episodes.
Also think that the forbidden book that Magnifico reads from has a green dragon on the front and he uses it to create a staff, both references to Maleficent becoming a dragon and the staff she uses, plus her dark magic is green as well.
I noticed that when Asha is trying to sneak Star into the castle, her movements (hiding round a corner) and talking into the bag etc. are very similar to Melody returning to the castle the night of her party in Little Mermaid 2.
Maybe it's just me stretching, but I thought the smoke effects of Magnifico's storm cloud also resembled The Black Cauldron's magic. (It was probably just wishful thinking, lol.)
To be honest some of those I didn't really notice until watching this. Thanks for pointing them out, as I was trying to find all the Disney stuff when I saw the movie.
The comments add a lot, but there’s also the building of the impromptu castle is reminiscent of the hunchback of Notre dame before they fight Frollo; plus the way they play impromptu instruments like in Tarzan’s “trashin the camp;” additionally the composition and colors in the scene with riding the deer while they run is colored very similarly to “colors of the wind;” as well as opening the spire is Quasimodo ringing the bells and breaking his chains Oh boy there’s a LOT
During the "Knowing what I know now" song, the friends are building things to make silhouettes. For a moment, one of the things they build looks like a Mandalorian helmet. It's quickly covered up, but it's unmistakable. It's not exactly a classic Disney reference, but they do own Star Wars now, so it counts lol.
Honestly, it was a very good animation. It was more than I expected. It had a very good vibe, it had an attractive animation, and the references were enjoyable, and the story was excellent. Well done Disney,
Omg yes!!! I just posted this too! Because a dream is a wish the heart makes. And when magnífico crushed the wish the person had like a heart attack!!!! And also some people don’t remember their dreams maybe it’s because their wishes have been taken !
the flute that's playing when Asha introduces the bird girl to the queen sounds SO similar to the happy ambient music used in the Lion King 2. It's barely audible over the characters in Wish talking and transitions to Saba's song pretty fast but it's definitely there!
Torn tapestry reminds me of Beauty and the Beast or Brave. Kingdom of rosas, like the rose from Beauty and the Beast, plus the rose is done in the style of stained glass. I like your board game collection! I still haven't played Fiction. I really enjoyed Flamecraft, so I probably would also play Critter Kitchen too.
Thanks! I've been waiting 3 months* to watch your video & it was well worth the wait! Wish feels like a love letter to Disney adults & I'm so happy I'm finally able to fully appreciate it. Your video & the comment section° is exactly what I needed to embrace every ounce of Disney magic. *I'm disabled & homebound so I had to wait for the Disney+ release. °Edit
The flower curtain Asha walks through to make her wish reminds me a lot of the floral curtain the cherubs pull across ending the centaur scene in Fantasia.
The animation during the chicken's dance is taken straight from "Be our Guest" in some spots. The room where they decide to revolt is referred to as "Sanctuary" like in the Hunchback. Valentino I think is reminiscent of Esmerelda's goat and there's a scene where he's under Asha's dress and I think there's a matching scene in the Hunchback. At the end when Asha is flung to the ground after grappling for the staff the whole scene is very similar to Jasmine trying to get Jafar's staff from him.
Ok didn’t see anyone else with this one: he mentions the flowers and mushrooms coming to life in the style of Alice in Wonderland. True for the flowers, but the mushrooms’ design and behavior are a reference to a scene from Fantasia.
Okay, so i just realised something about the queen. I think she eventually becomes evil after the end of the movie. Sort of like a Disney Orogin Story if you will. This is more a less a theory fo what i think the writers were going for. So after magnifico becomes trapped in a mirror, he's basically hinted at becoming the mirror on the wall. Since the queen is, well, the queen amd is now the only monarch, she might still talk to him through the mirror or something?? Basically, shes a queen with a talking mirror so that kind of sets up the evil queen from snow white. Disney's first animated film. Hence the movie being sort of an origin story for Disney as a whole. Asha's frinds being a reference to the seven dwarfs may also play into this some jow but im not sure? That part wasnt really needed anyway. This whole theory is a huge stretch but its just something i noticed...
My son says those butterflies are from Encanto, not Pocahontas. Also her dress has some pumpkin seeds designs on it in reference to Cinderella. And the King's forbidden magic book has Malificent's dragon on it
At the beginning where we are shown a book (much like in the classics as you said) a page shows a sun with surrounding constilations. The sun is the same symbol as the one for Corrona's emblem in Tangled 🥰
For me the Book of Spells from Wish strongly references The Book from Hocus Pocus. The scenery of the ocean during the song This Wish immediately makes me think strongly of “Go the Distance” from Hercules. The singing trees in “You’re a Star” are a clear reference to 1932 Silly Symphony. The first time Asha sees the wishes it’s not only like Sweet Nightingale from Cinderella but also the scene from Raya and the Last Dragon where she first meets Sisu and there are large water droplets floating around her. Several scenes with flocks of pigeons flying harks back to similar scenes from Hunchback of Notre Dame. Valentino could be modelled on Djali from HOND. Gabo says at one point “Move or I’ll break the door down”, clearly referencing a similar line by the Beast in Beauty and the Beast. Welcome to Rosas is very similar to Family Madrigal. During “The Thanks I Get”Magnifico swirls the wishes around in a very similar way Elsa swirls mist in Frozen 2 during Show Yourself. When Asha runs up the tree it’s very similar to Elsa running during Into the Unknown. During “Knowing What I Know Now” they make percussive music out of laboratory equipment, the same way the gorillas do so in Tarzan. Even though the bear seems to be John from Robin Hood he does evoke both Brother Bear and the mum from Brave (maybe this is a bit generic). The way Asha dives in the ocean out of the boat is similar to Ariel diving in the water to stop Ursula’s wedding, or even perhaps Jane from Tarzan jumping out of a rowing boat (albeit less gracefully). Amaya becoming aware of Magnifico’s narcissism and evil plot is a similar plot device to Anna becoming aware of Hans’s similar traits in Frozen. Personality wise Asha is most like Moana and Mulan for me - a little dorky at first but highly ambitious and heroic. The scene where everyone sings in solidarity with Asha, ultimately defeating Magnifico, reminds me of the scene in Dinosaur where the entire herd turns on the villainous carnitore, driving it away. Curious to see what others think!
Grandmother willow can be barely spoted when Asha accidentally uses ge wand to reveal herself behind he bush the chase scene, towords the top right corner you can make out a tree that looks like grandmother willow.
There are three wishes crushed because Aladdin only received three wishes from Genie that he could make. There are also three wishes that Aladdin is not aloud to make theoretically crushing three wishes.
I think Disney's Dinosaur movie is referenced with Star's entrance. The light filling the night sky in Wish looks very similar to when the meteor crashes to the Earth in Dinosaur.
If there was a Chicken Little reference, it would've been either be a chicken named Ace or a pig being a *RUNT* of the litter or someone saying "The sky is falling!" or even someone having a similar haircut like the aliens Or even a Dinosaur reference and the quote "Stand together!"
Mother Willow is very subtle in the background at one point when they pan across the forest. Also this movie has great puns!! Like the deer in the headlights who says he can't stop staring, and one deer even says "oh dear".
The turtle swimming on the back kinda looks like the one in the princess and the frog ! I'm glad you found the atlantid reference because I wasn't sure about this one !
Another one I thought you might have missed was when the citizens were arguing with magnifico, later gets his wish destroyed, one of them sounded a lot like a character from Mulan.
There are few I think I could see, With the song "Welcome to Rosa's" 🎶 - could be homage to Tangled (the people dancing together, the painting on the floor, the yellow flowers as windmills) as well as the man that had long hair - also a pumpkin passes straight in front of them being pushed in a wheelbarrow - the argument between Asha and Gabo could reference Mulan and her father having their argument. - behind them is a "device that gets used to make the fire stronger" is standing upright behind them (I think there is one in "Sword in the Stone" when Merlin uses his magic to help Arthur and clean all the dishes. - the moment Asha talks about her father and her younger self sitting on the tree, and what he said quotes Walt Disney - in "Thanks I Get" there could be some references to Gaston when he looks in the mirror and himself all says a line as he loves himself very much. - Asha's earrings could be a homage to Maui's hook 🪝 - I think the dress of the Queen could represent Elsa's with the flowing back veil Still looking for The reference to Atlantis?
I saw this movie in theaters, and I did manage to catch some references. I'll just list them really quick. 1. The "A Walt Disney Feature Production" sentence from Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs at the very beginning of the movie. 2. A woman making the blue version of Aurora's Dress from "Sleeping Beauty" in one of the wish bubbles during "At All Costs". 3. A pair of scissors cutting some pink cloth like in "Sleeping Beauty" or "Cinderella" (I haven't seen the latter for so long) when Magnifico grants one lady's wish. 4. Two animals calling each other Bambi and Thumper after "I'm A Star". 5. Peter Pan flying with three children in a wish bubble and Magnifico mentioning Neverland when he crushes it. 6. Magnifico saying "Popping this one!" before crushing one of the wish bubbles after seeing that the wish is for the perfect nanny for someone's kids. 7. Magnifico quoting Ursula from "The Little Mermaid" by saying "So much for true love!" after crushing another wish bubble. 8. Of course, characters from the prior WDAS movies being shown as constellations during the end credits. 9. Sabino playing "When You Wish Upon A Star" from "Pinocchio" at the very end of the movie.
When Magnifico got sucked in the mirror, there was a slight reference to the villain defeat in Princess and the Frog.
That's what I thought
Also, could be when Jafar also gets sucked into his lamp as well 🤔
no. more like he’s the man in the mirror from the evil witch in snow white. the mirror mirror on the wall
@@haleighbrianne567 Why can't it be both?
Really? Well it was way better than here.
I think this is one you missed. After Simon’s wish is granted, he says, “Long live the king,” which is the same line Scar said to Mufasa in The Lion King.
Ewww! scar drops his brother into the stampede
You mean Timon?
That's just something they say. Like in sword in the stone they chant "long live the king" when Arthur is crowned. But since simon is evil... maybe?
The line existed well before The Lion King.
The Atlantis reference might be the moment Star steals Dahlia's glasses and looks through them like Kida does with Milo's
I also thought it might be when the bunny says "boom" like Vinny
When Asha’s friends hold the ropes and they jump to open the roof of the castle, it resembles the way that Quasimodo was ringing the bells in Norte Dame. And of course they shout like Tarzan.
Other than that, I see Valentino, being a goat, always supporting the main female character as a (wild) reference to Djali, the goat of Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Also in the “Welcome to Rosas” song, there is a puppet scene just like in Hunchback!
Yes, I can't help but think of Djali when I see him. But he's much more annoying...😕
Yes!!
Djali > Valentino
I thought that at the first advertisement for Wish showing she has a pet goat. Djali was my favorite character in Hunchback.
Missed the reference to Mulan's opening sequence: when Asha is sitting with her dad, it's in an ink drawn style in a similar way to Mulan's opening.
I was thinking when she said “just keep wishing” it was a reference to Finding Nemo’s “just keep swimming”
He’s only talking about Disney references from Walt Disney animated films that aren’t Pixar
That’s Pixar also Jesus is amazing change my mind

Very true, very few I think noticed that. Good one
Asha even goes to the tree to cry on after, like Mulan goes to the wooden pillar outside their house
Whoooooooaaaaaa!!!!
Yes! Also the cake has a smiley face like Mushu makes for Mulan’s porridge!
Also a reference: the diamond shaped patterns on Magnifico’s wall are just like the ones Elsa makes when she wakes up the enchanted forest in frozen 2
It had Disney references in the movies
Same goes to Asha’s earrings

Omgosh! So subtle but sweet
It had tons of Disney Easter Eggs
I was waiting for this comment! I saw Pongo’s pic on the credits but I didn’t catch the reference. Thanks 😊
Or it just so happens that “take mine” is a phrase that can be used in a normal English conversation, and not everything is an eaters egg 😊

Green is a constant for villains in Disney movies, until you get to Bruno, who isn't really a villain. Maleficent, Scar, Ursula, Facilier, etc.
@@lawreb91 I know, I believe it was another way for Disney to trick us into thinking Bruno was a bad guy. Purple is popular with villains too btw!

When Asha says, “Oh, Mama” it sounds EXACTLY like Tiana.
Yes. Plus exactly how Tiana asked the star to make her dream come true.
Super video, thanks Peter. One I spotted - there's a rock by a pool early in the film that had Celtic circles on like Brave.

One more: the bear calls the deer "brother", I bet that's a Brother Bear reference!
The bear also calls it Bambi

The bear keeps being called John like Little John in Robin Hood
It's Little John from Robin Hood

The queen walking on the king using the forbidden « magic » in the cave has a very Star Wars feeling with the blue and red light.

I can think of one. Remember when Gabo says, "What are you, five?" I think that may have been thrown in there to allude with Grumpy from the 2010s Disney show, The 7D, because he says the same thing in some episodes.
I was thinking the same thing too!
Here's a Disney reference you missed: When asha is fighting off the enchanted wasps she looses her shoe in a reference to cinderella!
Strange how after that part her shoe is back on her foot already
@@lexramstudios1386 it could be an animation error
This was a fun video, and I love that the URL has "hug" in it!
One thing I noticed is that a lot of the animation is a shoutout to the artwork Eyvan Earle did for Sleeping Beauty.
Maybe it's just me stretching, but I thought the smoke effects of Magnifico's storm cloud also resembled The Black Cauldron's magic. (It was probably just wishful thinking, lol.)
I wouldn't put it past them to do that
Here another One: when Magnifico gains power, the Clouds coming take the same Shape than the ones Jafar creates when he becomes a sorcerer
To be honest some of those I didn't really notice until watching this. Thanks for pointing them out, as I was trying to find all the Disney stuff when I saw the movie.
That movie was awesome with all the references a almost masterpiece to me
The comments add a lot, but there’s also the building of the impromptu castle is reminiscent of the hunchback of Notre dame before they fight Frollo; plus the way they play impromptu instruments like in Tarzan’s “trashin the camp;” additionally the composition and colors in the scene with riding the deer while they run is colored very similarly to “colors of the wind;” as well as opening the spire is Quasimodo ringing the bells and breaking his chains
Oh boy there’s a LOT
I'm glad someone mentioned Tarzan's trashin the camp reference, thank you
The notebook animation when she met the king is obvious for for first animation at Disney
Well done Disney,
I think Asha is the first ever fairy godmother. This is just my feeling.
I love it when Disney makes references to better movies I could be watching
😂😂
I believe the scene where a chicken is breakdancing in the coop is a reference to Chicken Little.
Thanks! I've been waiting 3 months* to watch your video & it was well worth the wait! Wish feels like a love letter to Disney adults &
I'm so happy I'm finally able to fully appreciate it. Your video & the comment section° is exactly what I needed to embrace every ounce of Disney magic.
*I'm disabled & homebound so I had to wait for the Disney+ release.
°Edit
Okay but I think Sabino, Asha's grandfather, is actually Miguel from coco.
The flower curtain Asha walks through to make her wish reminds me a lot of the floral curtain the cherubs pull across ending the centaur scene in Fantasia.
yes!!
Plus the Disney characters in the credits, are order by release dates.
I loved this movie. Seeing all of the references were really amazing.
you forgot the light on their chest it reference on My little mermaid
I think DreamWorks should also do something like this on their anniversary
I think they would do an anniversary movie better tbh
oh please don’t bring up magnifico
@@Rainbowbillz Is that magnificent in Spanish?
At the end when they all star singing one by one it’s kinda like radio rebel at the end when they all claim to be her
Wish and Ralph Breaks the Internet literally have the most references throughout almost the whole film
Chip and dale rescue rangers: Am I joke to you? Also Jesus is great change my mind
There's also hei hei in the "chicken nesting room" where Asha hid the Star in there away from her friends
When the bear named John faded into the bushes, it gave very Cheshire cat vibes. Also the Homer Simpson meme that Disney now owns
Star pushing the baskets off the high shelf looked just like Meeko pushing the pots over in Pocahontas.
Ok didn’t see anyone else with this one: he mentions the flowers and mushrooms coming to life in the style of Alice in Wonderland. True for the flowers, but the mushrooms’ design and behavior are a reference to a scene from Fantasia.
The book the Queen and Dahlia read is in Atlantian!!
Yes. This movie would be the origin of Disney, aka the first movie snow white.
My son says those butterflies are from Encanto, not Pocahontas. Also her dress has some pumpkin seeds designs on it in reference to Cinderella. And the King's forbidden magic book has Malificent's dragon on it
When star is trying to escape Magnifico’s large bubble at the end he says ‘what’s this’ like jack skellington
YES! I thought the same thing!
I’ve saw all of them when I first saw this film
It’s like All Disney Movies in one film
It’s awesome
At the beginning where we are shown a book (much like in the classics as you said) a page shows a sun with surrounding constilations. The sun is the same symbol as the one for Corrona's emblem in Tangled 🥰
Thanks for this! I just watched the movie and immediately searched for a list of easter eggs cause I knew I missed a bunch
Sabino is basically the human form of Grand Pappi from Frozen. They legit had the same face.
There are three wishes crushed because Aladdin only received three wishes from Genie that he could make. There are also three wishes that Aladdin is not aloud to make theoretically crushing three wishes.
The dancing hens reminded me of the dancing plates in beauty and the beast. Took some of the same moves/camera angles.
When star grabs valentinos ears, he stand on his back legs and becomes juddy hopps for a moment
I think Disney's Dinosaur movie is referenced with Star's entrance. The light filling the night sky in Wish looks very similar to when the meteor crashes to the Earth in Dinosaur.
Another one I think I saw was possibly when she crawled through the bushes following Valentino and Star as a Alice in Wonderland one
If there was a Chicken Little reference, it would've been either be a chicken named Ace or a pig being a *RUNT* of the litter or someone saying "The sky is falling!" or even someone having a similar haircut like the aliens
Or even a Dinosaur reference and the quote "Stand together!"
You can see him along with other Disney characters at the credits
Thank you for this video. Amazing
The chicken dance scene with all the colourful lighting reminded me of "Be Our Guest" scene. Some of the camera work was very similar to me. 🍴 😊
The turtle during the song your a star flips over on its back like the one from finding Nemo
If you watch Wish just as movie it’s eh, but if you try to find the Easter Eggs hidden all over it’s fun.
I think the cauldron with green stuff coming out was a reference to The Black Cauldron
My favorite Easter egg is definitely Bambi’s mom in one of the earlier shots of the movie
You made a great job!!! 😍
There are few I think I could see,
With the song "Welcome to Rosa's" 🎶
- could be homage to Tangled (the people dancing together, the painting on the floor, the yellow flowers as windmills) as well as the man that had long hair
- also a pumpkin passes straight in front of them being pushed in a wheelbarrow
- the argument between Asha and Gabo could reference Mulan and her father having their argument.
- behind them is a "device that gets used to make the fire stronger" is standing upright behind them (I think there is one in "Sword in the Stone" when Merlin uses his magic to help Arthur and clean all the dishes.
- the moment Asha talks about her father and her younger self sitting on the tree, and what he said quotes Walt Disney
- in "Thanks I Get" there could be some references to Gaston when he looks in the mirror and himself all says a line as he loves himself very much.
- Asha's earrings could be a homage to Maui's hook 🪝
- I think the dress of the Queen could represent Elsa's with the flowing back veil
Still looking for The reference to Atlantis?
an origin for the magic mirror is something I didn’t think I’d want to see
I saw this movie in theaters, and I did manage to catch some references.
The grandfather and his guitar-playing kind of reminds me of Coco
