Anna was great, Carly was great, Eremia was great, Li Ya was a great beam worker despite her fall but Catalina Ponor was just better than anyone, by far the best beam worker in those olympics, maybe one of the best of all time

Catalina Ponor is the best beam work I think I’ve ever seen - she rarely has any problems with her moves, and her routines are just packed with difficulty, but she does them with ease, and beautiful grace!
Man, go Anna. Love how she improvises the switch ring into the double stag ring jump after missing her full twisting back handspring into the BHS-LO series. What an awesome gymnast.
There is always a duo taking Olympic gold and silver after having performed legendary beam routines: Lisenko and Miller in ´92, Miller and Podkopayeva in ´96, Liu and Lobaznyuk in ´00, Ponor and Patterson in ´04, Liukin and Johnson in ´08, Teng and Sui in ´12, Wevers and Hernandez in ´16.

Pavlova defnitely had a prettier and more innovative set, but its always sad to see that she makes mistakes when they count most. Not to mention, when you're going up against Romanians on beam its best you make no mistakes lol
Such a hit set from Ponor, I'm just not a fan of the non stop arm movements, I tend to see it a lot from the Romanians - no idea why. It just makes watching feel like I'm holding down the fast forward button and that dismount...never a fan of skills landed so low - her head practically on her shins, scary. Love Pavlova's set. And the cat like landings of Patterson, and her immaculate control, so you can appreciate the skills she does.

I just adore the way Carly does beam, she just floats and looks so light, Komova reminds me of her in that way.

Actually 9.7 is already a very gd score. That big step back on dismount did count quite a bit tho
