I enjoy rewatching this tinal on the French broadcast. I dont know the language at all, but hearing their joy and excitement is easy to understand, and so fun.
@@colesmith7509yes they were indeed. Nellie Kim was actually suspended for a time for blatant bias in her scoring. The open ended scoring system made that much more difficult. It also made a team gold for Romania impossible because they had to dramatically increase difficulty, rather than relying on “just enough to get by”
Shame Chellsie Memmel wasn't chosen, she would have had a great chance of winning gold here. Or at least a medal. Still can't get over the silver medalist standing on the low bar!!!
She actually never did through her career, which is insane to think about. Her hands must have been so tough to put up with all that friction! This routine definitely went awry but she is still the winningest ever on bars!
15:25 como pode isso aqui Kkkkk e ainda ganhar a prata? Chocado como as piruetas eram feitas bem depois das paradas de mão, as pernas totalmente separadas, execução ñ era o forte nessa época
Sorry - she stood on the low bar to get to the high and won a silver medal?!?!! I'm shocked. I think that's sloppy and poor when I see college gymnasts do it, let alone in an Olympic final! That should have been Kupets for the silver for sure
It was allowed back then, it wasn’t an element that she counted towards her difficulty or anything so honestly I don’t see a big deal with it, the rest of reruns routine was much cleaner than kupets
In French Gymnast Emilie Lepennec wins her gold and the Americans Gymnast were Terin Humphery taken silver and Cortney Kupets take her bronze in Women's Uneven Bars EF at Athens, Greece 2004 Summer Olympic Games.
Wow back when Tim complimented gymnasts from other countries, wild.
This comment made my day hahhaha.
He always did but Elfie was evil in 2008 and it influenced the evil in him
@@josephqualtier961so true!
Lmao
He still does, get real. He’s just not afraid to point out places of deduction and error.

I remember watching Emilie. She is amazing! 🇫🇷 🇫🇷 🇫🇷
I’ve never seen this in its entirety!!! Thanks for uploading this
You're more than welcome! ;)
The credit goes to another user btw
Gymnastics 101 I’m excited I’m finally seeing this broadcast (decades later lol)

I'm so glad the perfect 10 system is gone
Yes and many judges were sanctioned for scoring Russian/Romanian too high
@@ashleyc8373 wait actually? wow

Li Ya is AMAZING!!!
So annoying how they replayed Lepennec’s dismount and not the hop full to DEF?! Just to nitpick the step. I had to do my own replays lol.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The best French gymnasts ever so far, Marine Debauve and Emilie Le Pennec.
Agreed, but I gotta throw Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos in there as well!
Sure, you are right, Mélanie makes me think about Simone Biles with more care about choreography.
Melanie De Jesus Dos Santos is gonna shock not only France, but the world, in 2021!
Was that the full twisting Jäger that Suni Lee is trying to get named?

It was allowed back then. I still think that gymnasts shouldnt touch the bar with their feet (like men's HB), thus effectively ban toe on as well.
@@account366 toe on skills increase difficulty of many movements. So no it doesn't need to be taken it out in womens gymnastics.
Are you going to post the rest of the event finals from Athens?
Can you repost the Athens videos. UA-cam blocked them
Did Svetlana not salute the judges or was it just cut?
What do you think she did at 13:07?
@@user-do2ht2qk9z Uh obviously I would mean before she started her routine
I am suffering with Khorkina 😢
Just noticed that she didn't wear grips😮

So happy she Lost. Even happier she never got an AA hold

I agree. I hate that transition. I understand it was allowed back then but I just hate that move.

The Korean was robbed
She barely hit a handstand
QPHashSS77 Can say the same for Kupets
She was very good! But she wasn’t the best in my view. Still definitely deserved to be in event finals.
the Korean has a name
