- Someone reported me to the FAA for cheating on my flight exam.
This is the second time I have been reported. This time, I know whop did it and I know why.

Remember when filing a false report was a crime? If your post was before your test and he clearly knew that then he knowing filed a false report with the FAA and should be subject to an investigation and potential lost of testing accreditation. If he can’t be trusted to be honest then should he be administering FAA tests? Just my thoughts.
Indeed. This person reported to a Federal agency a know false statement. The FAA should yank whatever credentials they have to administer test and the individual should be prosecuted for perjury!
Have you been falsely reported to the FAA? Have you told a joke that some douche bag didn’t think was funny? You may be entitled to compensation. If so call Baron Pilot, the UA-cam Hammer, and get revenge today.

I feel it was extremely petty of the testing site. Dude made a harmless joke that was quite clearly a JOKE.
I have to agree with Barron Pilot. Take it to the FSDO and make them aware of the testing center’s indiscretions.

@@FlightChops At a minimum, file a complaint with PSI demanding he not be allowed to administer any further testing. I would probably find a hungry lawyer and tell him "you can keep 90% of whatever settlement or judgement you can get out of them" and then pour a nice cocktail and smile.
Why is it not illegal to file a false government report. Filing a fraudulent Government Instrument is a Felony to the Military and a Misdemeanor in the Law Enforcement world.

This! As a test administration firm it's their responsibility to be the honest, objective party in things. They shouldn't be allowed to administer FAA tests if they're willing to do something like this. Obviously they have a right to be unhappy about the situation but this was NOT the appropriate way to handle it.
Bryan, just keep doing what you are doing. I think the testing center should be held accountable for KNOWINGLY filing a false report.You bring fun and humor to GA and we all need a good dose of that from time to time! So to summarize, you kick ass and take names and I freaking love your channel!

It was funny as hell. The guy from the testing center needs a serious sense of humor transplant. I wouldn't have tagged the testing center, but otherwise keep doing what you're doing. I love your humor! And you're a very likable person too. I can see why the FSDO have you your own parking space and a punch card. I noticed the card had more than 2 punches and you've only been reported twice. I should turn you in for punch card fraud!😂

You have convinced me to not take any written knowledge test at Addison nor will I recommend any students do either. It is a shame that one jerk running the testing center would accuse you of cheating when you did not. This person is not a gentleman (gentleman do not conduct themselves this way) will cause the loose of revenue to his and other testing centers at Addison.

I have something to add for your "non friend" at the testing center: "Under federal law, anyone who “makes any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation” in any matter within the jurisdiction of the U.S. Government faces a fine and prison time of up to five years. 18 U.S.C. § 1001(a)(2)."
I have not seen anything here that says this report was actually filed with the FAA. Furthermore it seems to me that an actual report filed with the FAA, would entail a little more red tape to untangle.
@Jim Hausch I agree with you wholeheartedly. 'IF' that person knew he had not cheated and filed this accusation, then by all means they need to be bitch slapped. Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Transportation has special agents that might like to look into this matter.

The question is what did this company actually do: did they show the FB post to the FAA and ask them to evaluate or did they make an affirmative declaration that he cheated on the test without any rational basis to suspect this, or worse, did they declare that he cheated in order to retaliate against him for the FB post which the company found offensive.
You don’t have to mention names we already know. I had an issue with the same company different location. Was threatened to be blackballed in the industry. Laughed walked out the door and went elsewhere to finish.

I found your channel a few months ago, and find it awesome. As a newer pilot (happens to be studying for the instrument too), your style of comedy is needed. I spend a lot of time studying and flying, to see videos like yours help break it up. It reminds me (and others I am sure), that flying, while serious (or Cirrus), it is also a blast. It takes a huge amount of courage to bring humour aviation, this is so refreshing. The Cirrus satires had me literally almost tip the couch over backwards! I haven't laughed like that in forever... :) This place is such a permission giving, inclusive, breath of fresh air that lets all of us lighten the load on our shoulders a little.

You and I have a similar sense of humor. The difference is my brain filter stops me from making similar posts on social media. I wrote a blog for a long time and can’t tell you how many things I refrained from saying/joking because I could foresee it going down that path.

I think some people just can’t take a joke. Love the videos, just keep doing what your doing. Hate you had to take the IFR written again. I am working on my IFR rating also. With this covid-19 crap and some other issues that have been going on I’m behind and can’t wait to finish before my test expires. Good luck on everything.

I assume that this " testing center " is a FAA contractor? If so, there are severe penalties for government contractors who are falsifying information and making false reports about their contracting activities on behalf of the government. I would make a call to the FAA's Office of the Inspector General ( (800) 424-9071 email hotline@oig.dot.gov). The Inspector Generals Office investigates all wrongdoing (admin, criminal & civil) of the employees and contractors employed by the FAA. They take all such complaints seriously and they will investigate the matter thoroughly . What happened to you shouldn't ever happen to anyone. This won't cost you anything except the cost of a postage stamp or a phone call. For future reference, all Federal IG offices will even allow you to remain anonymous although in this situation that would be somewhat unnecessary since you have already gone public. The website for the FAA's IG is: www.oig.dot.gov/hotline .

I’n in need a bi-annual flight review and have flown under people with a sense of humor and with assholes, not unlike to ignorant guy that turned you in. You’re right, he could have called, but that would spoil his fun.
You have to look over some guys because their wives keep their balls in the nightstand and are only allowed to the have them on special occasions; they get a little grumpy, especially if they’re already narcissist. Also, we can’t credit this guy As being a deep thinker.

I remember years ago one of my daughters posted something online that was somewhat incindiary and I scolded her about it by telling her about a lady in a city near us, single mom, poor, robbing peter to pay paul to get by day to day, got a shut-off notice from City Utilities, they required her to go to the downtown office during business hours, get off work, had to pay with cash. She scrounged the money, got there and they told her the account had cycled or there would be a fee for paying for cash or I don't know what, but they decided for whatever reason that there was an additional fee involved so she had to pay some total amount that was more than what was on the notice. She had a little more cash with her, but not quite enough, the difference was reported somewhere to have been pennies or some trivial amount. Tough S--t. She hit the roof, had to be escorted out by security, etc. Later that evening she was on facebook going back and forth with people, one of the stories of the day on the news was something about some terrorist bombing in the far east, it got mentioned, and she commented something about how she could see how some people would like to blow some businesses up. Apparently the utility company was monitoring her online activity. They had her arrested. The local sherrifs department carted her off, filed a probable cause statement with the court and everything, charged her with making a terrorist threat, I don't know, but I imagine she didn't have bail, probably lost her kids to protective services, probably lost her job, etc etc. It was reported online by a local TV station, but before the story got anywhere, it was supposedly killed by the PR department of the utility company. I never heard what happened to the lady or her kids.
Two lessons here, First, there are going to be people with a SUTA, as you put it, SUTA people pop up at odd times and complain about things. I don't know what the psychology is, but it seems to have exploded with the advent of online social media.
The second problem, however, and the greater problem as I see it, is that the authorities often feel compelled to take these people seriously, I guess to prove to everybody how serious they are about their authority, to prove to the world that they are doing their job, to justify their continued existence, not sure what the thinking is, but sometimes authorities do that. In the story above, City Utilities has a lot of political schizzle in that community, and when a cashier at CU with a SUTA complained, the local idiot sherrif jumped all over it and ruined the lady's life, tore up what was left of her family, because it came from City Utilities, not because there was any danger, but to prove he was on the ball. But it didn't work that way. Everybody I know who saw that story thought City Utilities and that sherrif's office is dangerous, you don't want them around any more than is necessary.
So the net effect is skewed a different direction than the authority intends. Instead of proving that they are doing their job fairly, the target of their efforts, and everybody watching, sees how rediculous it is, but are fully aware of the consequences of anything the authority does. The simple act of trying to make everybody think you are taking every complaint seriously puts the target in some serious legal jeapardy of draconian fines and the loss of privledges that required a substantial investment to acquire, and you have to drop everything you are doing to respond to it vigorously, and take it as seriously and build a defense, and everybody watching becomes aware that everything they own, everything they have worked for, sometimes entire careers, could be put in jeapardy by an equally trivial or rediculous complaint coming out of left field somewhere, and nobody has any faith in where the FAA proving it's doing its job is going to decide to stop on any particular matter.
I was thinking about doing some UA-cam videos about various topics, and I heard about Premier1Driver's complaint, and then yours, and a bunch of talk on FB groups about people trying to turn in Jerry Wagner for various odd things, I was thinking about doing some UA-cam vids on aviation, but I can't afford the legal costs, the risk of fines or loss of privledges, or even the cost of the time of taking a day to visit the FSDO on their schedule to placate them on some trivial odd-ball complaint, so I have rethought the idea. I posted one short video a few weeks ago and posted it to some FB aviation groups. Video was of some crappy landings I made in a big taildragger. I got a lot of 'great video', 'hilarious how you almost ground looped it' sort of comments, but I also got more than a few comments from people with a SUTA harping on me about how crappy a pilot I was because I didn't land directly dead on balls exactly on the centerline (I was simply glad I actually found the 150 foot wide mile and a half long runway), and I thought of Jerry Wagner, if there was some rule broke, even just a little bit, one of these morans might have complained. I can't afford that. Furthermore, I don't know whether there might be a person with a SUTA at a Wings Seminar or just in the pilots lounge who might hear me telling a hangar-flying story of some sort and make a snit about it, so no hangar flying war stories anymore. Go to the seminar, watch everything, get the credit, and STAY MUM. Stop talking to other pilots. So communication between pilots will be affected, IMHO. That's bad for aviation, younger pilots won't learn from the mistakes and near disasters of older pilots anymore. And it's the FAA's fault. (IMHO)

As someone who is in the public eye myself and sometimes dance near the line with my humor, I get it. I also get why the guy with the testing center was upset. You crossed the line, but so did he by reporting information he knew to be false.

The best thing I ever did was quit Facebook. Too much drama there for my taste. Keep doing what you do. The humorless of the world will always be out there and it's our job to keep tweaking their easily hurt feelings.

Reporting someone to the FAA for cheating, when you know damn well they didn't cheat is beyond unacceptable. If they were upset you tagged them, fine, contact you and let you know, but reporting you to the FAA out of spite? That is completely unprofessional.
I want to know who it was so I can be sure to never go there.

Roger, can confirm that was an unwise action. Also, PIREP of major sticks up minor behinds at 4,300 ft. When we fly, we take it seriously and it is, undoubtedly, a difficult and potentially life-threatening activity. If every joke I said and goofy thing did, particularly with my CFI while earning my multi-instrument, I would be grounded for sure. Good luck, sir!

We all know that a jokes a joke but a lark is not a canary. This to me is more than someone who cannot take a joke. This man accused you of cheating. So where's his proof? Clearly the time stamp on the FB post and when you took the test will not match. Slap a lawsuit on him for defamation and then maybe he'll get the original joke after he pays a lawyer to defend his false accusations. You then might even be able to afford that plane you've had your eye on for sometime!!

I think Bryan is probably taking the best approach. There is little to be gained from legal action and much that would be lost.
