    I wish I had found this a few weeks ago! My instructor keot asking me which runway to use, and it would take me forever to think through it. Just a couple of days ago.ni figured out that math technique on my own. Great video!

    You showed easy to figure out scenarios. You land on the runway closest to the wind. What you need to show is more divergent winds rather than just 30 degrees off of heading. For instance runway 5/23 winds 310@ 6KT.

    Hey thanks for the explanation. When you have a chance drop a note on the video correcting your subtractions.

  • @sam111880
    @sam111880 6 років тому +2

    So basically you want to land on a runway closest to wind coming directly at you to aid stopping. (also taking in picking asphalt or concrete over rocks or grass surfaces for better stopping / just better for your plane). And your other method when it goes over 9 your just using the reciprocal runways

  • @thomasgreen1688
    @thomasgreen1688 5 років тому +2

    Yeah, but you left out part of the info you can quickly determine by this method. Left or right pattern based on your position relative to the airport and whether you would be in a better position for entry on the downwind or base. Assuming pattern is up for pilots discretion.

    Maybe he was thinking about this fun fact about the number 8! Which is why he wasn’t able to complete basic math.
    The number 8 is considered extremely lucky in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word for wealth and prosperity.
