John Mayer's First Podcast

- My buddy, Grammy winning musician and mood philosopher John Mayer came by the bunker for his first podcast interview ever. We discussed the similarities between music and comedy, our dogs, the blues, The Dead, hating haters, his new line of @PRSguitars and his upcoming world tour. It all winds up nicely when John grabs my acoustic and accompanies our “Roast In Peace” of a billionaire who died while getting his penis enlarged. Life is hard. We’re getting through it together.

I want John to go on Rogan’s podcast so bad
Agree........that would be great...
ya? what next infowars? fuck that.
@@DroneCorpse Yeah that's a horrible comparison. Joe has the biggest podcast in the world...
@@DroneCorpse wow what an original and brave critique. why pick on low hanging fruit? who spends that much time being bitter and hating instead of creating something.
Yeah Joe assuming he does some research can really do a decent job picking John's brain
JM has got an insane level of articulation. Love listening both his music and interviews.
He does. Dude is very smart.
Big John Meyers fan?
Yes
next step.. John on JRE
Would love to see this. Get em both high and talk about aliens lol
+1
oh yess! ♥
agreed...Joe actually asks some good questions unlike this BS where theyre talking about fucking cats half the fucking time...
Surprised he hasn’t. Gary Clark Jr., Sturgil Simpson, among other older guys, like Hetfield, Maynard, Rollins, even Paul fuckin’ Stanley😀, have all been on Rogan.
John Mayer, high school student or undercover cop?
"unemployed gatekeepers to nothing" JM is damn great on guitar, and a very good songwriter. this line has taken him to another level. Much respect, John. Much respect.
dude john is funnier than most comedians if not nearly all. or maybe his humor just appeals to me
I agree
Nah, John. I want a whole record (please).
Obviously, John is on another level of the human psyche. The ideas, the thought, the articulation of the phrasing, the images evoked, the musical talent, the intelligence, the intellectual improvisation... He is on the same level as Robin Williams or other Bob Dylan and Mozart. A sort of hyperactivity of improvised intelligence.
You’re not wrong.
It’s the magic of GD that has evolved him imho
John Mayer king of metaphors
This was really great John was born for a lot of things but being in podcasts is definitely also one of them.
Looks like they're in the basement of a southern baptist church
Ha. you got me on that one.
20:45 John doesn't have bad moods, only current moods
I just love John, a best friend I'll never meet...
My cat died yesterday. I'm only 20 minutes into this, but it's helping a lot, so thanks
I hope the first 8 times were easier.
2 yrs late but keep your head up, things will get better bud
The lyric John quoted in the beginning was Kanye not jay z.
Came to say the same thing
Jeff I found your podcast through Your Mom's House podcast! Please post all the episodes you talked about on there so I can binge watch them!
Yes! This!
Same.
@@FJBF1998 u got the cool beans song from hot rod stuck in my head thanks
@@akathehnic Good lol. Unfortunately not a lot of people get the reference.
The "I forgot better shit than you ever thought of" lyric is Kanye West*
John Mayer is the man.
I feel like he's the most human now that he has ever been
Sir Snowz he is fooling you! Still super pretentious
Channel Islands it is definitely interesting to observe this sudden cliche of “I was a dick but now I’m a great person” but everyone that speaks of their experience meeting him usually have nothing but positive things to say. Joe Rogan himself said he dislikes johns music but thinks he’s a very kind person. So while I do think this change is genuine, I’m still skeptical.
@@ayaankhan2717 Where did Rogan say he didn't like his music?
I clearly don’t know him, but from what I’ve seen and understand from his story… he’s had a lot of humbling experiences since 2010. Which has done him well. I believe he’s an incredibly nice guy who’s said some douchey stuff. But hey, everyone’s been there.
I thought John wasn't making eye contact for the first 10 minutes, but I think it's just fish-eye lens
41:16 this is WILDLY profound on john's part. exactly the reason our culture is so embarrassing right now
John is probably the few pop stars who can play the guitar in a very unique way and actually sing without auto tune. Since prince died he might be the most talented pop star. Sadly it is all about these shitty face tattoo rappers or dumb girls who have no talent.
Jesus Christ. The video quality reminds me of an Al Qaeda film Lmao! Good show though.
YES!!! I was wondering what was familiar yet off-putting. You nailed it. I knew it was more than the darkness.
i swear i could just listen to his voice 24/7, i mean, it's so calming, both singing and talking voice. damn.
John is a genuinely great guy! I love this podcast. It was funny, whole hearted, and a great vibe. Thank you for this!
John, tell Bobby to do weather report suite this summer with DnC.
This guy knows what is ☝
JM needs thick skin to stand wear he does & play in front of hundreds of Deadheads who still miss Jerry.
Hundreds of thousands*
I definitely played over albums ignoring what was actually there.
Also John Mayer hits the nail on the head with Instagram guitarists, they never focus on playing with other people.
You won't hear metal guitarists ever say that.
Can’t believe he’s still on the watermelon Perrier 😂😂😂
Damn, John Mayer a cool ass dude.
Wow, did not expect to see John Mayer on the pod. Keep up the great work! Big fan of you and will need your podcast to get me through the long days. BTW you look like Stone Cold Steve Austism.
w
😂
Omg little did John know he would write doggies in a pool 2 years later
My Dog used to play fetch with me, he would put the stick down, back away and dare Me to go for it. I miss that dog.
John is amazing with Dead and Company seen em twice both times melted my face
Jacob Anderson did they talk Dead and company in this ?
LET'S GET JOHN MAYER ON JOEY DIAZ CHURCH OF WHATS HAPPENING NOW
nah
Does John do enough drugs to participate in that?
Joey tends to yell over people the whole time and not listen. John is an articulate conversationalist. Theo Von's this past weekend would probably be a better fit.
I was waiting for Mayer to say "Your body is a wonderland" when Ross asked if he's ever written a dog song
This is a terrible camera set up, really really terrible.
Alright John, now it’s time to hop on JRE. Let’s make it happen
fuck rogan and fuck his lunkhead fanbase.
Hey Sid fuck you too
I love John! I literally bought his first LIVE album at Toys R Us ....LOL. That's how I found him. My mom said you can pick one CD and he looked talented from the cover and wow.....13 years later who knew how he would evolve into such a mutable, flowing, artist who I feel has musical talent under the belt and is finally getting his chance to let his personality raw-ly, shine thru! John I use to have a pillow of you in my teenage years LOL! wow.... if you see this comment plz like it!
One year after.... your comment made my day!
if more men had the emotional intelligence john does, the world would be a much better place and i truly believe that.
If only Malsteem was at that podcast “less is more?, no, more is more” mic drop…😂
(1:09:15) I laughed my ass off during Roast In Piece 😂
That's the most interesting conversation on dogs I've ever heard
27:10 and that's how neon was born
Your body is a wonderland was written about a guy
He also made the song when he was 19
“I spell out I’m John Mayer with my tongue” oh man hat had me dying through a smartphone just hearing the story. 😝
I had only ever heard stories about John Mayer, just from the press and the net, no real insider info... and I had just thought he was a bit of a douche superstar type? but wow! actually, he's a really good shit and I like the guy! count me as a new fan. (*love you Jeff Ross - please re-upload all the old podcasts!)
he used to be a bit of a douche or an "ego addict" as he'd say, but he' s00per chill now yo
Watch John mayer has a TV show
Harmontown ain't a podcast anymore?
/s
Mayer doesn't do interviews anymore, and when he does, doesn't show himself in best light. This was great though, he came across as awesome as he probably is. Love it
John Meyers doesn't write his own songs
John Mayer is the OG❗️👏🏼
absolutely john should have a musical podcast! i would kill to have that hearing him spectacularly articulate the meaning of a song and then play it good heavens start a petition
Hell yeah Jeff. Great podcast can't wait for more! You have a real lax setup and I love to see you guys really chill.
I’m so glad these two are friends.
What in the 4:3 is this! ? lol
iPhone Kingx 18 minutes in and still talking about dogs
I love this JM is so on his game, clean sober and on it. Getting better with age. Ha JR dog keeps trying to get a pet or two from John, nope, I'm the same way. Dogs have oil on their skin, can't play with oil on your fingers.
This is a great and sooo brief look into John Mayer. His analogies are spot on with bull's eye precision. What a storyteller and a sentimental soul. Truly reflective of his work and his life. As I've seen him live and listened to many an interview, I continue to hear passion, kindness, humor and sincerity. Great job Jeff!! Your true friendship shines brightly with this one! I hope you both can find the time to do this again and again!
I never understood the negative connotation of saying “dirty dog” or “ he’s such a dog”. I’m a dog fan and always love them. They tend to be so gregarious and loyal. Ready to please and be loved as well. Sometimes I can’t say the same for my cats.
I’ve always thought my 7 3/8 head was too big. John mentions once he’s got a size 8 and I’m like... my head could be a bit bigger maybe I’d be a bit more musically inclined... 🤷♂️😂
My kid wears a 7 3/8, must be the next Clapton..
Good luck on your tour John.
Damn... John gave Jay Z credit for Kanye's line.
Best interview with John I have ever heard or watched. Thank you.
I’ve seen taliban tapes with better production value, great conversation and a good listen though!
Now I see why bobby picked this wonderland lover to do Jerry's job
Found this on my own. Not really, youtube suggested it.
Thanks UA-cam
@@maxwerner5251 is your name trey?
@@maxwerner5251 interesting.
1:10:37 you can see john didn't enjoy the Michael Jackson joke
I keep remembering John Mayer in killer mutant beaver.

Dogs= Kids they wish they had
Great podcast. Think you can upgrade the children’s Karaoke Mics though.
3:22 I get that but I'm egoistic and I want more of his crazy solos and licks because they make me happy.
Tonal control is so much more.... Less is WAY more. Listen to the greats.
@@nickapalooza861 I know that his understanding of music is way too complex for my simple mind and I acknowledge that he's a master in whatever he's doing. But I just love me some badass JM solos.
jaz zle if you like his solos check out his work with dead and company. I never miss them live. Particularly look at his guitar work channeling jerry. Amazing work and some machine gun moments as well that you like.
New John Mayer Album "Limited Attention Span" with one 2:30 song called "The Notes I Don't Play"
Kanye said that line john not jay z
He put Jerry in the top 3 musicians of all time, and the only one in the top 3 that was a guitar player. That's pretty heavy!!!!!!
Great podcast! Love listening to Mayer and Jeff banter!
Jesus. I listened to this first. Seeing it makes me love it more.
If he ends up dating Tal. It’d piss ppl off more than the Kardashian’s. Good for him though. Not old enough
13:35 had me crying
”Long way to get that story.... ” :D ha ha..ha... Love you, John!
Get him on the Joe Rogan podcast pleasssse
This was so endearing. I also love how low budget it is, somehow it made it all feel a little more real and authentic.
he's hot
Here from John Mayer knows best Facebook page. Follow if you're interested 😊
Lies! :) This isn’t his first podcast. He was on The Great Debate podcast (#50, #112 and #113) and he was on the Bobbycast in 2017 (#72). I assume he’s probably been on others too that I’m just not aware of.
He did the golden road with steve parish as well
This isn’t his first podcast at all. He did Harmontown
22:00 -23:00+😳😮🤩
23:11 gosh I needed to hear that
33:07 Jeff’s magic nights 🤩🤩🤩
43:30 Jeff would give John notes on standup.
48:02 John won’t do standup because he respects those who do it too much.
1:06:30 great comedy advice from John !?
1:12:00 doing my act to a digital timer
Mayer isn't new to podcasts. He was on Harmontown about a year ago and I know I've heard an interview with him on a music podcast, the Relix one I think. A great guest though!

40:00 dialectic thinking. Thinking two seemingly opposing thoughts as true
John, you need to start your own podcast for your fans! You always speak words of wisdom. Don’t give up your comedic dreams
Wow, you are gorgeous!
He uses lots of words but doesn't say much. Lol big John Meyers fan btw
As a really self taught and hindered guitar player. 23:31 I know EXACTLY what john is saying here.
2:58 - The start of the Corona Virus, it was him all along!!
Great podcast! Please see if you can increase the volume. I listen at work and it was hard to hear sometimes with the background noise. Big head! Priceless!
Lol I'm pretty sure kanye said that I forget better shit then u ever thought of line in that diamonds from Sierra Leone song fyi
Harmontown
I want a record!!! I'll binge listen to it for weeks at a time!!! Don't worry about me ever getting tired of your songs
Right! Put the record on and let it play on repeat!
I’m the same age as John. When he was emerging on the scene in the early 2000’s I looked at him as a teenager heart throb that would be a flash in the pan.
Man I have come accustomed to love this guy. He is so chill…just himself being who he wants to be.
I enjoy listening to John talk and expand on life almost as much as listening to his guitar skills. The dude is a complete package of Artist, Philosopher and friend to share a beer with. John you gained me as a fan later in life and apologize I didn’t give credit to you earlier when we were younger.
I think you will go down as one of the best guitar players of all time when the next generation looks back one day.
16:36 him talking about Moose looking at the stars was soooo cute 🥺😢❤️🐾
When I started paying attention to Jeff Ross about 10 years ago I never would have thought people would be requesting dead tunes on his UA-cam comments.
This podcast really lifted my spirits. Jeff and John are so genuine, and I felt as if I was sitting around the table with them.
Filmed on a potato with a microphone that has a blanket tossed over it. Quality.
Hahahahahah “i’m john mayer!!!”
John Mayer and Jeff Ross . Greatly unexpected combo . Glad this happened.
Hey Now...When is John going to be on Howard???
It was going great, until he opened his mouth about politics. I didn’t want to know where he stood, and now I do. My love for Mayer just went down a HUGE step! It’s a sad, sad day. I’m sincerely sad that a man that I revere and respect so much is just another leftish sheep. Or, a closet free-thinker that doesn’t have the courage to “step out of line” and not follow with how the rest of Tinseltown thinks. I very much hope the latter!
In my opinion, he’s done the controversial thing. He’s said the wrong things at the wrong time to the wrong people. Conservatives don’t cancel people. Leftists do. So to avoid being cancelled again, it’s very possible he’s appeasing the mob by nodding and agreeing. At least I hope
@@ctown6592 I hope so too!
Great podcast! The volume levels could use some editing though! My ears bled a couple of times
