I feel like Mayer has a unique way of articulating things that most people think often but cant put into words, he brings thoughts out of his subconscious so effortlessly and it makes him very relatable as a musician.
John Mayer is a beautifully well spoken soulful human! SOB ROCK Tour is/was the Best! Thanks for all you do and joining in this superb interview panel! Love'n y'all!
John Mayer is such a brilliant beautiful cat. Always gives a surreally insane interview. He’s like none other. Broke the mold. Love all of his work. Love him
I started listening to John Mayer in 2017. The song 'Moving on and Gettin' Over' was a sonic therapy session during a cold winter and an even colder break up...I've loved him ever since. You're my Bill Evans, John.
Hopefully you listen to his earlier stuff too! The DVD Where The Light Is, live in L.A. has to be one of the best live recording shows of all time. Worth watching it's in entirety!
@@baldbearded9601 Thank you for that. I will definitely check it out. I Love the earlier work! So after listening to the "Search for Everything" i went back and listened to Born&Raised and that's when I knew I was in for the long haul Lol.
THIS is my FAVORITE JM interview of all time. I`ve practically seen them all. But THIS one does it for me. It dethroned the Oxford interview he did many years ago which use to be my favorite interview. The Oxford interview is like the other book end to his great interviews. I can watch this interview over and over again and NEVER get tired of it.
JM has grown soooooo much over the years ... I really started to like him only recently (couple'o'yrs) but he has really learnt his lessons ... such a smart guy.
Wait til the whole world gears whats really going on out there in the world, We are all cocooning coming out as butterflies at the end of all of this. Love this interview John did a great job
I love how he seems to know that as great as he is and as much as he tries, he'll never be able to sound exactly like Jerry. Nobody can, Jerry was so unique. He gets very, very close to Jerry, but it's not a 100% replica. So he puts a little bit of himself in it and creates something fresh. It's great. I've seen Dead & Co live 8 times, and every time there's always little moments in the songs when you can hear John being John instead of Jerry. He does such an incredible job of carrying on the music for the old Heads and the new generation alike.
Also, I fell in love with JM`s music when I first heard ``Dreaming with a broken heart`` it let me know he was more than just your standard issue pop singer. BUT I fell in love with JM when I heard him speak in an interview. His speaking will always trump all his gifts for me. Maybe because I`m a Sapiosexual. Its like a 2 in 1 bonus...you get a legendary musician AND he`s a genius what did we do to deserve this is how I feel about this man.
This is a sentence everyone needs to learn: "Okay, I think I know what you're saying, but could you say it again a little more explicitly." Think what you want about John Mayer, but the guy tries incredibly hard to listen. He really focuses on paying attention and giving his best answers every time.
john reached a point where he's thinking deeply about everything and can use words to express his thoughts in a totally higher level to the average human being.
John Mayer is far more verbal than most musicians and he finds himself endlessly fascinating, but he's not on a "totally higher level", he's actually not that great a communicator because as he sings on "My Stupid Mouth" Mama said, think before speaking No filter in my head There's a reason there's no "books by John Mayer" section on Amazon. I came here after listening to Joscha Bach talk, now that's higher-level thinking.
@@skierpage i agree with you yet when i think about it not that many people either on UA-cam, TV or in our daily life thinks or speaks like him so yes he is on another level for me.
@@hazemsherif3120 yes I sounded too harsh. Many songwriters are terrible interviewees, they can't express interesting thoughts about their process and great compositions. JM is reliably insightful. I like how he says he starts talking already on page 12 of the book of his idea, so it's fractured and often opaque.
You had me at guitar...Classic John Mayer - only you can be you bro...I be hugging cool riffs...if you ever get riff-block and I know that's a thang...let me know I got you...bravo!!!
I think when you're younger, the fire in your creative output is a reflection of the self-discovery of your experience. When you get older, perhaps you're not discovering as much new, or you're not as fascinated as you were when you made all those associations as a youngster. Start seeing more experiences as fragments of the same game and sitting with them, as opposed to feeling the need to get it out there...
