Knowing John Mayer was bawling when writing "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" makes me so happy because that song absolutely blindsided me. It has become one of my favourite songs. Definitely gonna be played at my funeral.
I admire John Mayer very much for his authenticity. To me it looks like he is really honest with himself, which is a rare thing. It's so refreshing and inspiring to listen to.
John Mayer is fascinating and has a remarkable character. His brain is so evolved....I dont know how else to describe it. Very intelligent, very articulate, very sensitive to his place in the world. No wonder he writes songs and plays guitar like he does. Genius who is very true to himself because he knows what that is .
Literally watching this video with a pen and writing down takeaways. Listening to John Mayer talk in an interview can be like listening to a professor that you really respect, and really want to grasp and understand some of the things they say.. just to get that much closer to how their mind works and how they see the world. And hopefully some of that wisdom/good shit will subconsciously flood over into your art and way of thinking too.
I dont think people pay attention to how adamant John is about expressing himself.. I’m almost too sure NOT enough people ask him how his day is going.
Quality thoughts, quality expression. Generous with his thoughts! He is probably the most articulate, expressive musical artist ever. Really top tier this guy!
Love how this man’s mind works. This was such an honest, open discussion about all things John Mayer and so cleverly becomes the interviewer. Such an insight into a beautiful talented creative soul.
This is an amazing interview like I've never seen before with John Mayer. That being said, I'd like to make an observation: the main reason why the interview is so fluid is John leading most of the conversation, making Kerwin participate not as an interviewer but as a simple dude, chatting with another simple dude. By all means I'm not saying that Kerwin is not a good interviewer, otherwise an hour an a half interview would not have taken place. Just making an observation so that those folks who dislike John understand that it was just a phase and not at all his real essence. THIS is John Mayer, just a human being who got a LOT of attention, broke (kinda) bad and then took his time to humble himself, continuing to develop his passion without bothering anyone else but himself inside a studio. No one asked for my opinion, but I'd say this guy is already a legend.
I’m 27 and watching this interview again. John’s points are so spot on about moving forward and not living in the past/along with becoming more selective finding a good woman(partner). The older I get the more this video ages like fine wine.

This is actually one of the best interviews I’ve ever seen.
That’s because JCM is involved.
I've been a fan of JM for ages and even to this day, I can't watch him speaking without taking down some notes on life.
"Some people come because they want to hear a song I wrote in my twenties and never recorded" ALL I WANT IS FOR YOU TO RECORD AND RELEASE 'IN YOUR ATMOSPHERE' JOHN IM SORRY
It’s fine as is
He said he won’t do it because everyones gonna complain and say the live version was better
at 19:25 when he's describing how music makes him laugh. . . . I've felt this for so long!! when i hear amazing music i've always had this instinctive reaction to giggle or laugh out loud. so cool to hear JM talking about this
John Mayer is indeed THE most interesting person on this planet
I can’t wait for John’s new record. Because i’m a new fan. And I was hoping for him to released an album in my timeline as a fan.
He said April right?
@@matissepascal1238 did he? (Haven’t finished the video yet)
@@marcosviegas7127 yes!
@@nathanw32 holy fucking shit!!!!
New fan here as well. It hit me just 3 weeks ago what an incredible musician he is. Shame on me. Obsessed with his music since.
Born & Raised is my favorite album of all time.
Same. I can’t believe he said queen of California was his skip song…I was like…wutttt???
john, if you're reading this...heavier things is wildly under appreciated. please mix in some more deep cuts on your next run. we need some split screen sadness
Conituum is his best work... fight me!
I heard Split Screen Sadness on his last tour in Toronto. Acoustic but still amazing😭
Oh man good choice. It really does get overlooked but it's the bridge between two sounds. That of Room for Squares and Continuum. Splitscreen sadness, wheel, and Somethings Missing. He teased the last one at a show I saw before transitioning to In Your Atmosphere.
This is one of the most and honest John interviews I’ve ever seen. He really does seem to have found peace. It’s great seeing him this comfortable.
Love that he talks about the importance of a "good font". This is why I love John.
thank you for your love and support indeed you are a true fan. you can write to me on #mayerj262@gmail.com#
@@johnmayer7360 you are a true lover of your fans
Thanks for everything you bring us brother
You’re Gonna Live Forever In Me makes my husband cry every dang time.
Never On The Day You Leave is absolutely heart aching, and In The Blood is so relatable.
Love On The Weekend makes me miss something I never had.
The Search For Everything, is actually my favourite album. Of course it depends on my mood… but it generally is.
1:08:49 that pause after "we never want him to meet anybody" it really hit him and you can tell instantly how hard it hit
I've seen a lot of interviews with John Mayer but damn... this one was special. He really let down his guard and just opened all the way up on everything. I feel for this guy so hard and just wish him all the happiness in the world.
Kerwin too. If you ever do see this, dude you are incredible. The way you were able to run this interview, but also just be yourself and put yourself out there is a pleasure to watch. You deserve all the success coming your way man,.
I freaking love John Mayer! His art has a special place in my heart and it is a massive inspiration for me. I listen to his music in good and bad times. I wish I could talk to him someday and tell him how special he is!
I am the fan that wants to hear everythannnnng!!! from Covered in the Rain to Whiskey Whiskey to St. Patrick's Day to In the Blood! Ugh you know you're a true fan if you have ever cried to Stop this Train while driving away in the dark! Truly love and appreciate his music!
“The princess is in another castle” killed me. And then him having to explain it.🤣🤣🤣
I thought that too! Lol
My grand plan at this point:
1.) Become like a huge internet talent.
2.) Start an interview show
3.) Have John Mayer on to just listen to him speak. My god the guy just sounds so intelligent
Agreed. My plan exactly
John has always been so cool. I'm so glad he's a looked upon artist in the guitar community! Also in music in general!
I don't think Kerwin got John's joke about long-term relationships...
:D:D:D:D
i laughed at it and he was just like 😁
Went way over his head
I don't think Kerwin got anything John said. Embarrassing "interview"
That was John's invitation for the interviewer to delve into his love life or lack of it. Went over this buffoons head unfortunately.
john mayer is the shit. i appreciate the typeography/design references which inspired me that people of your artistry care, cause im a graphic designer!
Calls out the Atlas Grotesque font. That’s John Mayer’s deepest cut.
Hahaha agreed.
That shit costs $500 too
I believe the reference is a combination of Ayn Rand's *Atlas Shrugged* and *The Fountainhead.*
Ha. Nope. It’s a font.
John has some incredible interviews and things like it online. This is easily the best. Amazing.
Knowing John Mayer was bawling when writing "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" makes me so happy because that song absolutely blindsided me.
It has become one of my favourite songs. Definitely gonna be played at my funeral.
"3 of those 3s & you're basically at 10 man"
I admire John Mayer very much for his authenticity. To me it looks like he is really honest with himself, which is a rare thing. It's so refreshing and inspiring to listen to.
Mr. Frost rlly grinding the best interviews of the century
This interview, wow. So good. John is accessible yet brilliant. His candor is so refreshing.
Not John quoting his monologue from bold of love from live in la with the mad doctor analogy
Great interview man I love John Mayer he has grown so much as a human. I learned a lot from this.
thank you for your love and support indeed you are a true fan. you can write to me on #mayerj262@gmail.com#
John's brain never pauses. I find it totally hilarious.
Mr. Frost, I appreciate what you do for the culture.
john mayer interviews kerwin frost whilst giving his own thoughts

Rejoice!
Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!
The world needs john’s new album!
It's April 30th and still hasnt come out. Still waiting and excited for it too come out
SAAAAAME
It’s May and still no album
In 100 years, people will know the full scope of missing out on one of the most prolific artists of the 21st century.
damn never knew what a unique thinker john mayer was
Go watch some of his other interviews and speeches. He is legitimately a genius and one of the most freakishly talented people of the past 50 years.
I love other people hearing and seeing John in this "New Light" hehe (Sorry had to do it lol)
Oxford interview from 2013. Do it
@@mediaholic07 Haven't seen that in a LONG time!
He's an absolute genius. I love listening to him talk.
Need more this sort of interviews. Nice to see that Kerwin has an eclectic music taste.
John and Kerwin talking is like watching a first year student grab a drink with his favourite professor this is mad wholesome
The part about ‘The Truman Show’ hit home, this man is so interesting and eloquent. Kerwin thank you for you
I need to watch that movie again but from what I vaguely remember I can totally see how he would feel that way.
I dont think people pay attention to how adamant John is about expressing himself.. I’m almost too sure NOT enough people ask him how his day is going.
New to Kerwin but the way he interviews is so authentic and makes his guests super comfortable. It’s awesome to watch. Totally fuck with his vibe🙏🏼
Kerwin having to ask his crew if he was 25 is the most kerwin shit
Love those golden bits of songwriting advice John just hands to us. Thanks for the strong content!
Thanks alot for your compliment and support for me, i really appreciate..!
If you don't mind what's your favorite songs of me?
A mix of guitar, hits and deep cuts...best show
I love John Mayer. Such a smart cookie
