    Hi i am getting an ARB locker installed in my truck and I was wondering where you mounted the compressor?

      The quick answer is under the bed on the passenger side. The long answer is I bought a Viair setup witch was suppose to run air tools it had two compressors and I bought the compressor mounting brackets and sandwiched the brackets around a pedestal that is part of the bed that mounts the bed to the frame. They would not run air tools so I bought a ARB CKMTA12 to add to the system. I made a plate to mount the compressor to and mounted the plate to the bottom of the bed, to the bed frame rails that support the bed floor. To not have the compressors sucking water and moisture all the time I ran the air intakes to the highest point under the hood.

    Did you have any issues with putting the tone ring on just sandwiching it between the locker and the ring gear

    Was the Factory LS that bad? Looks like the one you took out was a helical style similar to TrueTrac. What was the main reason for the upgrade?

      The factory LS was not that bad but what I do in that truck a LS dose not fit, I like the ability to lock all four tires. I have had 3 LS and the only places they work are dry pavement, wet pavement, and dirt roads. I have got stuck in sand, and snow with LS doing the one wheel action. The one in sand was a auburn friction type LS that after that I regretted spending the money on it. The one I took out was a torsen limted slip like the true trac and when following my wife while she was driving the dodge, I saw it doing the one wheel action many times on ice and snow. Limted slips work good in sports cars, for people who rarely have bad whether, and stay on the road.

      @@offroadguy9020Gotcha I had a TrueTrac in my old F150 in the rear and an E Locker in the front. I rarely ever had to put it in 4wd. Really liked the truetrac but I guess anything would have been better than Open Diffs. I have a 06 Ram 3500 now and I don't know what direction I want to go in. I liked the Truetrac install better than the E Locker, and no maintenance on it, I’m just not sure how it will handle towing and tires. But I guess selectable means you can just go open when your on the highway and lock them in only when you need them. Just more $$$$

      If you liked the torsen limted slip you might want to go with the AAM TRACRITE which is what I pulled out. I pulled 20,000 lbs up the Alcan with it. I did notice that the Tracrite is not that much cheaper than the ARB about $200 difference not including the air compressor. You might also be able to find it cheaper locally since the Tracrite was standard in dodge SLT packages and higher in the years around mine.

    Did you use a differential spreader to remove the diff from the axle housing? Can it be reinstalled without a differential spreader?

    • @offroadguy9020
      @offroadguy9020  3 роки тому

      I did not use a diff spreader at all. It is not needed in the AAM 11.5 or 9.25 they have adjusters that screw in and out. look at the video at the 2.45 mark. You loosen those up and the diff will fall out. I have removed diffenentials from dana 60's, 10 bolts and never needed a diff spreader

      @@offroadguy9020 Did the bearings for the diff carrier have to pressed-in? I plan to install an Eaton Truetrac in 2015 Ram 2500 CTD.

      @@carlogal2657 Yes The way I did it was fill a can with oil and heat it to about 200 degrees letting the bearing absorb the heat and left the diff out side witch was about 15 degrees dropped the bearing on to the diff then tapped it on with a bearing driver. Once the bearing lined up it almost fell on then tapped not very hard and it was on

      @@carlogal2657 Is your truck a tradesmen that came with a open diff because that sounds like a gear type limted slip like what I pulled out and most dodges come with stock

    So this locks your rear wheels? How much ? Runs of air ?

    • @offroadguy9020
      @offroadguy9020  4 роки тому +1

      This is a air actuated selectable locker. When not actuated it is a open differential. When actuated it locks the two tires together
