Rebuilding the Front Differential on my 97 Dodge Ram 2500

  • We had to tear apart the whole front axle and differential of my old truck. It needed new carrier bearings, axle seals, pinion bearings, pinion seal and new end yoke. We cut off and replaced all the bearings in the differential without any fancy tools. It is a fair process and amount of work but it is really not that difficult and with all the parts ready to go it does not take very long either!
Welcome to Traplines and Inlines, this channel focuses on my dog and I on our remote Off the Grid Homestead in Northern Canada. I make videos on off grid homesteading and building, trapping, chickens, mechanical projects, and hunting and fishing.
I went offgrid and started building my cabin over two years ago, while I was still in highschool. Since then I have built many things at the homestead and have had the priviledge of learning many things along the way.
The homestead is designed to be relatively low maintenance and with extremely minimal expenses. All of my electricity comes from solar power, heat from woodstoves, and I haul all my water so I dont have any monthly costs associated with my homestead.
I love the lifestyle, especially because it gives me the absolute freedom to do whatever I please. I plan on continuing to tackle awesome projects and work at building and fixing many more things, and I cant wait to share them with you on the channel.
    Thanks for watching!

I JUST LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. Regardless of the subject matter. If I was to be stranded somewhere under any kind of conditions and could pick anyone I wanted to help me survive I would ask for 5 of you. I don't think there is anything you can't do and do well. This world would be a much richer and better place if the majority of the young generation were as tenacious and assertive about getting things done as you. You are a remarkable young man.

People we are witnessing a very rare exceptional event here. A generation Z that is a very hard worker and mechanically inclined. Very very rare these days my nephews can’t even check their own oil and tire pressure maybe they can but just don’t want to get a hangnail.??? Very reassuring to see a younger guy with this much knowledge and work ethic..

Superior job, My friend! I do admire your mechanical skills. You're right about the fact that doing your own repairs on your vehicles saves a lot of money. That's really an understatement! The hourly rate in your average auto/truck repair garage is going through the roof these days! Anyway, I enjoyed watching you do the repair. Good luck as you prepare things for the coming winter up there in old Canada.🇨🇦

Buddy Guy, if you removed all the connections between the fence top, middle, and bottom strands and only connect them together where the power is connected, you could remove the bottom wire as it gets grounded by snow, then the middle one, as it gets grounded.

What a great way to spend about an hour on line. I can remember back in the day working on my trucks and my brothers. His go to line was grab me anothe PBR! I also remember not so great times in the dead of winter putting a heater core and radiator with all new hoses in my Bronco laying in the gutter with a minus 20 windchill. Did it though cause basically I had no money for a garage to do it and I had to get to work on Mon. 75 miles away. Dude your swinging way above your weight. Stay safe up there.

Gotta say you did a deadly job on this diff my friend. I overhauled my first diff on my 95 dodge when I was 17years old as all the axle seals were leaking. Im 40years old now and have been a journey man heavey dutty tech for 21 years now running my own mechanics business. I would hire you in a heartbeat over another certified tech. Your work ethic is second to none for your generation eh.
If ya ever have so many seals leaking on a diff again be sure your diff breather is not plugged. If she is plugged you will do all that work and she will blow the seals out again, no doubt abouter..
We have a lot in common as Im fleshing a coyote while watching your video.
