I think seeing them as real life people makes aang and Kataras relationship more real. The actor for AANG looks way too young in this first season to have a relationship. They will add it later. 😊
Also…please remember this is an adaptation, not a remake. If you go in expecting a 1 to 1 replica then you will leave disappointed. If you go in expecting an adaptation then you will at least have fun. 😊

@@iamai_iggsIf I remember correctly, since Gordon was a pre teen at the time, they would need to get his parents permission to do any kind of romance scene with Kiawentiio since she is about 3 years older than him. They said no because they weren't comfortable about their young son behaving like a love struck boy for an older girl. They especially wouldn't allow him to kiss Kiawentiio for the cave scene which is why they had to switch it out for sibling love.
Gordon is currently 15 and Kiawentiio is 17. Once she turns 18, doing romance scenes are going to be even more challenging since she'll be legally an adult. And not only do Gordon's parents have to give permission and personally supervise any romance scenes between the two. But federal laws can be very strict regarding allowing or not allowing romance at all between minors and legal adults. Because of the notion of (unintentionally) promoting inappropriate relationships between minors and adults.

Aang wasnt flying actually. He was using the air to push himself and was just basically gliding. Love your reactions. Just subscribed. You guys will love the series. I am done with it and looking at reactors veiws as well
Guys about flying... remember Kyoshi island when Aang was floating in air to prove warriors that he is Avatar? Not this adaptation did mistake, Legend of Corra did!
Korra didn’t make a mistake. The fandom is just confused. What Zaheer had was weightlessness. He was one with the wind, And with Weightlessness you can fly. But air bending in general will enable you to fly in the same way firebenders are able to fly. By controlling the air around them
I think it's cool that flying (or flying like stuff) is bigger in the live action. It and the rest of the bending looks great and it's awesome to get to see it in a more realistic setting. I don't know if the thing about weightlessness is canon or anything but it actually makes so much sense that I'm gonna repeat it without questioning it tbh. -sean

i enjoyed it i noticed a lot of the changes but i had went into it with a it’s a different universe mindset
I think we all went into the watch with varying levels of attachment to the original, and I personally had to remind myself to keep an open mind a few times. Definitely an adaptation, not a remake (duh), and there's so much to love! -sean

Remember, they only have eight episodes in season 1. Anime has how many episodes? 20 ep? Don't expect too much, as long as they did justice to some major events in the anime.

For what it is worth, as an Avatar mega-fan, I pretty much agree with everything said in the review discussion regarding the show. I had issues with it, and things I liked, and generally speaking you guys hit the nail on the head with most of my criticisms and praises. I'd definitely say I am on the more cautious and pessimistic side, but already it is 100x better than the Shyamalan film. I can tell you guys know the deeper lore (for example, I had the exact same minor disappointments regarding Gyatso's death), and it is refreshing to hear the thoughts of others really passionate about this universe. I am attempting to just take it at face value and enjoy it as an independent piece of media. Earned a sub and will be following along as I continue to watch the series.

But I also don't think they're doing Kataang.
Given the actors' ages, Kataang wouldn't be a good idea at all.

Expecting something would happen in order, that came directly from the cartoon will ruin the experience honestly. The best way to enjoy this live version is to simply be aware of what happened in the cartoon and trust the process this adaptation will take you. Simply enjoy the awesomeness that is not the M.Night version 😂🥰 Purists will hate, but to each his own. We are not haters and this was a good adaptation, kudos to the writers that made the effort and handled this show respectfully. Excited for the next seasons. 🥰😍
I just cringe at the KataraxAang romance bc she's an actual teenager but he's still prepubescent. 14 and 16 is still iffy for me but 12 and 14 is not even realistic, I can't take it seriously. Their romance is also not interesting to me, and the dynamics that they have screams siblings to me. I do have a soft spot for enemies to lovers trope especially for villains/antagonists with good redemption arc, so yeah I would've preferred a ZukoxKatara end game but I think no romance would've been the best. They should've got together a few years later when they're young adults.

Don't t he air temples have upward drafts? He was floating rather than flying.
I know, my theory is they can glide/fly short distances only-with drafts and manipulating the air currents, the same way they do with their gliders. But they couldn't sustain it/truly fly.

So one thing I'll say is that in the live action, you will get the same emotional payoffs that you do in the series, just at different times and in different ways. I went into it with the idea that it was a fresh take on the series. I wanted to see the characters and their story arcs be faithful to the original material, but not 1:1. I loved it. I still love the original series. Don't have to pick.
So, is there credible information that Aang and Katara won't end up together? I don't mean fandom, either. If there's not, reserve your animus for the show runners until it's deserved.
They said for this season the age difference in their appearance would be jarring, so they wanted to wait until future seasons to start that where ang ages up a little

And I have seen a few reactors make sweeping claims about the new series based on factually inaccurate fandom reports. Looking forward to more from you guys.

My only issue I had was Aang flying, in the show he can't even glide well without his glider. But let's also be honest and admit that that's a very stupid decision from the original show. Of course airbenders would at least glide more, with or without the LOK flying suits. Even back in Wan's day they at least had nimbuses, but of course a person who has wind powers would be more in the air. Other than that the biggest hurgle this show actually has, is that whether the changes are good or bad, I spent 80% of my time processing the changes like, "Oh that's that dude from that storyline. Guess they're doing it here instead. But how will they later do-oh it's this place. oh they're doing it like this, that makes sense, but how will- oh she's here? now? Ok and" so the whole time my brain is processing too much. That's more on us than on the show, but I think this is the most annoying bump for most of us. The lines and etc are fine, yeah they speak too much about how and why they feel something, but it's the first season, and they'll get better it. Ironically Sokka was one of the best characters because of them not doing that so often. Sokka is pretty much the one character who will emote and leave things unsaid, like just a look or does something and we infer how he feels. I'd say the series was good. Not like a masterpiece, but good potential and I can see them turn into something great. I mentioned the biggest hurdle, and now the biggest helper is that the live action movie was so bad that we will excuse a lot lol.
I have an issue sometimes getting out of my head while watching a show. I feel like our watch of episodes 1 and 2 is an example of that. I'm glad you came away with a positive take on the show by the end of the season! -sean
@@TheFandomTroupe It took me a few episodes to accept that we're not getting an.. adaptation per se, and more like a reinterpretation. So it's more like an alternate reality. Then I can accept it much better.
You have to remember that boys grow faster than girls,theyll be about the same height next season.
I like practical camera tricks. I wish there was a way to see the behind the scenes of the way they'll handle these aging actors on set. -sean
I'm gonna be honest... i didn't like it. Something about the acting just didn't resonate with me 😬 and some of the effects didn't look... good. and mind you, my standards aren't that high.
(I went scouting for reviews online. i'm glad i'm not the only one who thinks the CGI is not great)

Personally, I think it was pretty bad as dialogue. I was pretty excited to see it though, and I can appreciate some fan service haha… it was an absolute junk food scene. -Sean

This is intentionally rushed. This isn't a replacement of the animated series. This ideally entizes people (both OGs and newbies) to watch the animated series. It's frustating some OGs wanting this to be an exact copycat of the animated series. It becomes boring if they dis it actually b'c you already know everything.
You guys should chill. Take 1 episode at a time and don't expect everything will be a copy-paste from the animated series. Not everything from the animated series can translate into live-action. Watch the series from a newbie perspective for you to enjoy and appreciate the series more.
