As someone who never got into the original show despite multiple attempts to (maybe I was just too old when it originally came out, I dunno) I’ve enjoyed watching real fans react to this live action show a lot more than I enjoyed the actual show myself. My favorite part of every fan reaction so far is the reaction to the drums in the credits at the end. It’s good every. single. time. Thank y’all for your reaction, it was very fun :)
same. i tried to do like some others and at least get season one in before netflix's version. but there's a reason it was a kid's show. on nickelodeon. 😄
30:09 I like to think of it this way: We _get_ to be really nit-picky, because the bones of the show are good. The worldbuilding, the storytelling, the characterisations, the casting, the acting, the set- and costume design, the CGI are all very solid and faithful (if not 100%, but hey, it's an adaptation, not a carbon copy and that's a good thing). So we get to pick apart small details and things that don't immediately look like they're gonna work. I'm counting that as a win.
We never actually see the attack. We do see the temples on fire but thats about it. No people being hurt. The way fire ignited walking into that air tunnel was hard!!! Sokka is less sexist in this. There was noone else for him to leave in charge after he left the villiage so that different too. I dont think Zuko had a notebook and all these little trinkets. This shows alot of research going into his journey. Sokka with the wolf club. Yeah Appa didnt fly yet until Aang is on Zukos ship. No bullshit when GranGran was doing intro I was saying it with yall at the same time. I did want Sokka with the war face paint tho.
I guess it never occurred to me until now that the South water tribe was sexist too, which makes sense why Sokka was. Cuz why is he, a kid, in charge when there are several grown adult women there? lol
I don’t agree with the notion that shorter arc = unimportant. I don’t see how that makes any sense. Plus, the real conclusion to his sexism arc (spoilers for the cartoon) came at the very end of the series when in his final battle, he entrusted his life to 2 women who he wanted on his squad (Suki and Toph) Completely full circle from not trusting any women to fight at all to entrusting his life to them in the final fight. It’s perfect and now we won’t get that.
@@conflictiontalks5188sokka was sexist for literally 4 episodes, so yes, that is unimportant. people act like him being sexist is his entire character arc and are really complaining that it’s gone. his REAL arc is learning how to be a leader and being just as important to the team despite being a non bender
@@conflictiontalks5188Sokka's sexism lasted 4 episodes, and was only really in the forefront at the beginning of ep1 and in ep 4. And technically, coming from a village where there was apparently no other adult men, it didn't make sense for him to be sexist in that scenario to begin with, when the general culture there wasn't like that to begin with. And we know it wasn't like that because we know Hama knew how to fight, and Gran Gran left the North for the South because the South wasn't as backwards. In short, it's not really relevant for Sokka's character in any other episode beyond ep4, and it was only there to teach the kids the lesson of the day.
Not to sound like a psycho but i like that they show the burned bodies to tell the truth who really gets burned besides zuko aang katara and song... I cant think of anyone oh yeah toph when her feet got burned so to see this is a nice touch
See, I don’t really get how the Southern water tribe could manage without the adult men if Sokka had that attitude tho. Like, I’m not sure it actually makes sense in a realistic way
y'all have to let the cartoon go. throwing a boomerang and having it connect perfectly 20 seconds later is looney tunes shit. character beats will be different. setups and payoffs will be different. as they should be in any worthwhile adaptation. try to enjoy it for what it is. 🖤
+brandonjuno Tell that to most of the fanbase. Also, as someone who grew up watching the original animated series, this live-action Netflix adaptation was imperfectly impressive. I look forward to live-action Book 2.

Gordon Cormier as Aang is really very good in this episode
Loving this series so far! Brings back childhood memories

Honestly, Sokka's sexism only lasted for 3-1/2 episodes in the series. Sokka's real journey was understanding what it means to be a leader.

Isn’t this episode 1?
No this is S1E11x1

so to see this is a nice touch
Loved this reaction! You guys were just enjoying the nostalgia and it shows
Don't forget that the these episodes are more or less one hour long. It's almost like they have put 2 animated episodes into one. And it's great
I've actually really enjoyed this show so far!
ight mac lets get it!!!!!
I'm sure they'll correct the (title) of the video, since this is Ep 1 and not Ep 5. It happens, this is easy to fix.
They already fixed it lol
Yeah I was up at 5AM with the baby when I posted, I should've double checked
Double? According to ozai, the comet gives firebenders the power of a HUNDRED SUNS
lol i was looking for episode 1.
See, I don’t really get how the Southern water tribe could manage without the adult men if Sokka had that attitude tho. Like, I’m not sure it actually makes sense in a realistic way
Nobody who wants power ought to be allowed to have it.
OMG... Thanks for watching you're reaction, Because I am very enthusiastic and happy to watch you.... have a nice day for you🎉🎉
dude gets roasted
me: oh this damn sure not a kid show dude
Your Thumbnail says Episode 1, should it actually say Episode 5?
Glad y'all are reacting to this.
Let's go!❤

Actually, they changed Sokka 100% from a sexist male into a sex symbol, as girls chase after him in every town they visit lol
Badly made garbage in every way. Made only because of money-hungriness.
