Excellent Scott and thank you! I figured the hair was either a 'project' or part of what I'm thinking could be a persona for maybe being in a band? I've seen what looks like a music studio in some of your videos. Anyway, you look great, and thanks for the electricity 101 class today.
As always, you have great insight into the workings of a Goldwing. As for the hair. When I was a younger lad I had long hair but it's very short now which I much prefer. Having said that, do what's good for you and not the rest of us
I just went through this with my Nephew, yesterday. He was wanting me to come fiddle with his electrical in his Acura, and after lamenting about your chosen subject, he finally found the problem, a faulty ground wire. Leakage current creates serious issues, as you point out.
Today I started up my 2006 Goldwing and started to the meetup spot, on the way my music shut off (iPod) and I noticed gps was off and fuel gauge showed empty and temp was like bike was off. I pulled up at a stop sign and didn’t see headlights reflecting off the trucks tailgate in front. I was only going 10 miles to the meet up and by the time I got there, the bike was barely running. It would start but only stay running for a short time , My electrical stuff would turn on when I first would start it, but then die off before the bike would quit. I ended up getting it towed back home and pulled the battery and gonna have it tested, but I was curious what you think the problem might be the battery was only six months old so I kind of doubt that it’s the problem but need to start at the easiest point
Great video, I have a 2008 GL1800 that I chg the air filter and now the Fi light blinks. I've tried to reset it as per the Honda Manuel. No luck. Called two Honda shops they told me to ride it.
I have a 2005 Honda goldwing im having a problem with the bike. I thought it was the solinoid.. i put two new ones on but didn't solve the problem.here is the issue. When you turn the key on the lights All come on. But when you hit the starter button. It clicks and the power goes away and the dash lights go out and then just flicker. Can you help. I can push start in and it runs fine . But the starter won't engage. Would appreciate if you could advise !
Hi Scot, I have a silvering Gl 500, I know its not a Goldwing but I know that the lighting and wiring are pretty much the same when it comes to the signals and horn blah blah, I have a problem with my signal switch and I was wondering if it getting one from amazon is hard to wire in, see the bike is 42 year old and I know a lot of the switches are hard to find in good condition, I just worried that the colour codes are not going to match up and I'll be chasing wires for days, what are your thoughts.
QUICK QUESTION, I HOOKED UP A COUPLE OF BLINKERS THAT ARE LEDS ON MY 06 JEEP AND NOW MY I HOOK UP A SIGNAL LIGHT FLASHER SO MUCH SIGNAL LIGHTS WONT FLASH FAST AND IT WORKED GOOD, BUT THEN I NOTICE THAT NOW MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS DONT WORK PROPERLY. THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS FLASH SUPER FAST THAT THE FLASHER MAKE A RARE BUSSING NOISE. SO IM OUT OF EMERGENCY LIGHTS.😁
I'm a little confused from your description; however, if you have some old signal lights of the incandescent type and you mix in LED lamps as replacements you are going to have an imbalance in the current supply through switching circuits (blinkers). When changing to LED lamps, you must look at the whole system and, in most cases, different blinker controllers are needed since LED lamps do not draw enough current to cause the older switching circuit (blinker) to operate. When considering LED technology, the whole system operation needs to be considered, not just the lamps.

You're perceptive....and correct. :)

Thank-you very much for the videos, and the time everyone puts into Goldwing Docs!

Great videos...
Although mine is a 1998 Valkyrie, it's like a sttripped Goldwing, so your advice is always well heard and memorized.
Scott, I appreciate all your videos and Goldwing Docs! I could have used some of that hair you cut off 😂. Thanks again

Scott, the security device (gps) you endorsed a year ago. does it maintain the same support you gave then.
thanks.
Yup, still using it, still works great!
-- Nice t-shirt (and haircut)! 😊👍🏍️
Good explanation
Hi Scott, are the electrical grounds just the green wires or can they be green with a line of another color as well?
Depends on the bike, but solid green is ALWAYS ground.
What causes video “breaks” ?
thank you

That’s electric explained where you can understand it 👍

Grow your hair while you can. Once it decides to leave it don't come back!
Yeah, I suspect I'm not going to have that problem :)
Too bad people hustle you about your hair. Myself, I thought it looked great. Wish I had your hair. It would be down to my waist.
