Welcome aboard! Thank you for the kind sentiment... I try to good a good job with the camera & editing. Some are better than others...but, thank you for noticing details. Stay tuned! I’ll be back on the trail soon! - JBH
Looked like the right time to hike with all those fall colors popping! I don't think I could keep my eyes on the trail with so much to look at. Kick-ass campfire ring with the Adirondack seats. Lots of history in that area. Looking forward to the rest of it.
I started and finished a little double lollipop I made from Fontana. From the dam up shuckstack was brutal. I went west from there. Back east and over the AT. Ended up taking the Lakeshore BMT back to the dam. First National Park backpacking. Planning next year now. Several cars on the BMT, closer to the dam at least
Sorry for the tardy reply. Just now discovered your comment. Thank you for commenting…. Enjoyed this hike. There is so much to see in the park. I still about 40% left to hike on that 900 mile map. Thanks again, J⚡️H
One fire ring to rule them all!! That lunch spot was awesome...like you were each sitting on a throne. I'm always so intrigued by the history of that area...I always wonder about who else was there as I trod on some old road. The leaves are beautiful, what a perfect time of year to be out there!
That place where we had lunch is under water during the summer and is exposed in the late fall & winter. It did feel kinda mediaeval. I totally agree... love the historical aspect. Those cars, chimneys, old foundations are so incredibly interesting! Yeah, I like when there are still a few leaves left, but still get mostly unobstructed views. Stay tuned... there is still 5 more days of adventure in the Smokies !!! - JBH
Thanks! Oh yeah.... it was a memorable hike in new areas of the Park. Fall leaves, unusually warm, rain, sunshine, water-crossings, feet issues, finally cool weather, etc. Still 2-3 more videos to come in the series. Stay tuned!
I was excited to see this when it came out but I’m just now seeing it. Well done. I think hiking with Leonidas would be more like a forced march (which I’ve done before). Not sure how I’d look or feel the next day 😂🤣
Haha... he is a beast of a hiker. Never running out of energy, doesn’t get over-use injuries (if he does, it doesn’t slow him), hikes faster up-hill, if he wants to hike 30miles..., he’ll just do it, etc. On this hike, I did have a few ailments that slowed me at times but I held my own with him. There’s at least 3 more episodes coming and the trail gets even more rugged as we head north in the park before ending at Big Creek. Thanks for stopping in... Be blessed ! -JBH
Awesome drone shot at the beginning. I was thinking 10 years ago you'd have had to rent a helicopter with a giant camera mounted under it to get that shot. Sometimes tech blows my mind.
I agree.... technology blow me away too! Thanks for commenting. There’s more to come. We spent 6 days hiking all 90+ miles of the BMT in the Smokies. - JBH
Great, video, subscribed! We just stayed at site 90 one night and paddled to site 81 for 3 nights and also hiked over to site 77. Video coming soon. What kind of camera do you use?
New subscriber! Really enjoying your videos. Great editing and camera work.

I love that area - there is a sweet spa there - The Spa at Lake Fontana - rustic, chic Bnb with yoga, massage therapy. Wonderful place
