I love this band sooo much. Whenever I remember to play their music it's always full tilt. I was a pretty big music listener in the 90's sucks I always discarded this band. I would listen our Lady peace more. Lmao.
STP was a special band with great musicians. The Deleo brothers had a sophistication to their musical instruments and Scott is one of a kind vocalist. The drummer is one of the most underrated drummers of his time. The dude held his own and held STP together.
They were just magic in the early days. Seeing stuff like this on VH1 and MTV as a 9-year old changed the trajectory of my musical life forever. You were a gift, rest in peace Scott.

Everybody criticized them back then, saying they were too much like Pearl Jam, they were just another grunge cliche, when really all they ever wanted to do was just play, they did it so well, they were so talented.
Purple is way better than anything Pearl jam put out. Now interstate love song is on a car commercial lol. Great band, but there was only one way for it to end up, Scott was getting busted left and right with heroin in the 90s.

While I dont abhor Bush, some of what they did in the 90's was alright, but at the same time was very cliche and formulaic. So glad STP stripped their sound after Core. It was what almost every big band did in that decade because they didnt want to be put in the same mold. Too bad music doesn't breath and have life anymore like it used to.

Let's forget labels (grunge and *hit), STP are one of the best rock bands ever, minimal and biting riffs and Scott was a unique songwriter, performer with a really outstanding voice. So underrated, they age better and better over time, like the best wines... 5 stars
I have been to many, many concerts in my 60 years of life, but I really don't think anyone rocked harder and had the stage presence of STP. I only saw them one time back in the 90's when I took my son to see them at the UCSD Remac Arena in San Diego. Cheap trick opened for them. I went out and bought all the STP cd's and then Velvet Revolver cd's . I blew my speakers out listening to Scott and his music. R.I.P. Scott and thank you and your band members for the awesome tunes.

It was the same then as now - it was just more hidden. The music was better, though - and it was new, but politically correct ‘wokeness’ had already taken root. I look back & see a lot of lost years working to build friendships and vocations that all evaporated. There were high points then, and there are high points now - but now I know better & steer clear, abandon hope, and enjoy the solitude. It’s good now to be able to appreciate music of the 90s without any shallow 90s Marxist assholes in my life wrecking it 🍸
When I was at my worst and I was losing my mind on pills. Listening to STP and Alice in Chains is what got me through the worst of times when I was in fear of losing my job and some how I pulled through. Scott and Layne helped me more than therapy ever did.
I have recently been the lucky recipient of a box set of the first five albums by the Stone Temple Pilots. Why didn't I discover these hidden gems earlier. Excellent musicianship. Not just a heavy rock band, there are many different styles of music to enjoy. Bloody brilliant.

I saw them live twice. Great show. They stopped and did an acoustic set in the middle of the show. They had a second stage above the stage that lowered down on cables on top of the main stage. On there they already had their acoustic instruments set up. They just stepped aside while it lowered and then stepped onto it to perform. I've never seen anything like it.
Sadly, always knew it would be an OD for Scott...not an if, but when. Amazingly, we had him for over two decades, times of exceptional music and so much fun!

I have my little sister to thank for introducing me to this band - I grew up in the 80s while she grew up in the latter part of the 80s and early 90s. I remember the first time she played their CD for me, sure that I'd like them. She was right - one of my favorites of that era!

Purple is my fav STP album, hands down. Their first album had more of a Seattle sound, like they were still trying to figure out their own sound, but they found it with Purple and no other band comes close to that style. Still Remains Superman Silver Gun And so on

To be fair, Core is a PJ, AIC, Nirvana rip off. After that, they didn't really sound like anything else, starting with this excellent album.

Never got the chance to see Scott in person but know I will soon in the next dimension.
I saw them live twice. Great show. They stopped and did an acoustic set in the middle of the show. They had a second stage above the stage that lowered down on cables on top of the main stage. On there they already had their acoustic instruments set up. They just stepped aside while it lowered and then stepped onto it to perform. I've never seen anything like it.
Sadly, always knew it would be an OD for Scott...not an if, but when. Amazingly, we had him for over two decades, times of exceptional music and so much fun!

I have my little sister to thank for introducing me to this band - I grew up in the 80s while she grew up in the latter part of the 80s and early 90s. I remember the first time she played their CD for me, sure that I'd like them. She was right - one of my favorites of that era!
When I bought the "cassette" version of "Core", I was a fan for ever. Will miss Scott forever.
We know you struggled Scott. Some of us have or have had the same type(s) of struggles so it's understood. It's O.K. you had to leave. You can rest now. I think I speak for everyone who is an S.T.P. fan, we thank you for all the great S.T.Pilot's music you left us with to listen too and enjoy for a very long time. You're gonna be missed man, have a wonderful journey :)

Purple is my fav STP album, hands down. Their first album had more of a Seattle sound, like they were still trying to figure out their own sound, but they found it with Purple and no other band comes close to that style.
