I’m so so glad Andrew has given this content a home, Rick has such unique experiences to share and I was worried we would lose his perspective after ba
What is BA
@derek What fallout?
@@GamingZone2543 BA = Bon Appétit, the culinary magazine and associated UA-cam channel. There was a big dustup in mid-2020 about them not contracting/paying staff equally/appropriately for on-camera work as well as more general racism/tokenism issues.
100% respect
He has a series on Food 52 as well, I highly recommend it.
This cooking show is shot like a travel documentary and I am all for it. It makes you want to travel to Mexico, if the snow outside didn't already.
It's a beautiful place to visit! I moved here recently and love the scenery.
So very happy that Pruébalo is back!! Such a brilliant show ❤️
The way they talk about tortillas makes you believe even more in its high quality and taste.
Sonoran tortillas are out of this world.
it's an easy sell when it's all true
Sonoran tortillas are easily the best flour tortillas in Mexico! The best thing about them is that you can find a lot of small to medium sized tortillerias where they make them with traditional recipes and no preservatives at all... those are the best ones.
I never thought that I would see my home town in a Babish Culinary Universe video, I'm really happy that Rick came to show one of the biggest parts of our culinary traditions and food items! Love the content as always
I’ve lived in Austin for over 20 years now, and though it has changed, you can still find beautiful homemade tortillas. Rick, you’re so right about the memories of going home and what you eventually hold dear. I’m so happy to see you doing what you love. Bless you.
Also in Austin, what's your favorite place to get homemade tortillas? And don't say HEB :P

@@kungfookielbasa A cozy little spot tucked away on the corner of 45th & Lamar. Let me tell ya... BEST. TORTILLAS. EVER.
EVER.
When people do what they love and love what they do, there is extra positive feeling that comes through. I love each episode: learning more about Mexico, learning how things are made in different regions of Mexico, seeing the successes of all (including Rick and Sebastian, et. Al) AND the new recipes!!
I miss this series so much
These videos are passionate, colorful, and one can almost taste and smell the food. It makes great Mexican food even more accessible.
Flour tortillas are American food.
@@User-jr7rkflour tortillas are Mexican food. It’s a northern Mexican dish. If you’re not from northern Mexico then just shut up
Love these kinds of videos! Really introduces you to new people we mightn’t have heard of otherwise. Martinez is a cool guy!
Those giant tortillas are a thing of beauty!!
More Rick Martinez, more Pruebalo. Best blend of culture and cooking out there.
I’ve been watching/subscribed to BWB, and now BCU, for almost 5 years. I remember the first million mark, and I will always love this channel.
This segment is by far the most awe-inspiring and educational, and reminds me of the late Bourdain’s ability to connect and center the ones he speaks to. I’m estranged from my Mexican family as a second-gen Mexican American and this show makes my soul sing. Well done, Rick.
Since Tuesday March 1st is National Pancake Day, you could make the Alolan Pancakes from Pokemon episode, "Racing to a Big Event"
Or at least ask Alvin to make it
It's so cool seeing these, I'm a 3rd generation mexican-american and we've lost some of the mexican heritage as the years went on and relatives have passed away and I really like seeing some of the heritage from around where my grandparents came from.
This is always insane to me because y’all know the country your relatives came from is literally next door, it didn’t disappear or like you didn’t come from an ocean away, the country is just a few hours from car or plane and it’s not expensive, you are not a germanic descendant from the other side of the world, it’s literally next door.
@@ericktellez7632having a country next to your country doesn’t mean you are involved in the culture
I was kinda worried this series was done, but I’m glad it’s back.
Maybe on any day in March, you make Garlic Guacamole from Hotel Transylvania 2
Yes! Please tell me Rick is going to be a continuing part of the BCU. Just slowly incorporating the folks BA wronged.
Your consistency and quality of content never disappoints!
Ok bot
These look awesome! Can we have a printable recipe with amounts? I would love to try these.
FOR REAL!! This channel is all about being able to make it yourself, but this episode is “Ok, I’m gonna try to make it. Mix all the stuff, and make it. Now you’re done”
NYT Cooking has a similar recipe for sonoran tortillas, maybe dont use the baking powder and follow the instructions outlined in the video instead. Though it probablt needs some tweaking.
On Tuesday before or after Saint Patrick Day, please make Kanker Burger
Now that Arthur has ended, please make Leaning Tower of Pisa Honeycake from, "Dad's Dessert Dilemma", episode
DW!!!!
Love to see how other cultures identify with authentic food. Really shows the connection and the art behind cooking.
I missed Pruébalo. I love learning about the Mexican food and culture😍
THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE SHOW. Goodness. Fantastic work Rick and the BCU!
the production of rick's videos are incredible - i love how the dog scenes are echoed by dog graphics - and the colors throughout are so vibrant! also, I want to eat all of the flour tortillas in this video.
I love these videos so much. I love how it's not just about the food, but the emotional core of these meals and the memories we all have associated with them. These episodes are always so cozy.
This was fantastic, and makes me want to travel Mexico to sample all this sort of thing. It's great to see a culture and their food brought out to the world.
Always happy to see more Rick videos in my feed!
I love Pruébalo and Rick!! Thanks for the amazing content, Andrew and Rick!
It's amazing how cuisines across continents mirror each other! Those giant tortillas are so similar to Lebanese and Syrian saj bread.
Also in the south asia!!
olla, from Germany, and I have to say "thanks" deeply from the bottom of my heart.
The limited social Live in last two years pandemic, everyone knows. In addition to the horrible news of war, less than 700miles away.
Thanks for the colorful window to Mexico and the presentation of the local food. This brightens up my day.
So glad to see this series again! Hands down my favorite show on this channel, even above Basics and Binging
I love this series, super duper happy it's back. Reminds me of a mix of those street vendor behind the scenes videos with interesting and insightful commentary on the cultural history of the food.
This is a really beautiful episode. Hats off to Rick and his team on the insight into flour tortillas and whoever his photographer/videographer are/is.
i love this series!! both my parents are from Mexico, but i was born in the US and haven’t had the chance to visit yet. so watching Rick explore around Mexico and trying traditional foods is awesome for me!!
We need more of Rick!
This was very educational for me, I have been trying to make my own homemade tortillas for a while now👍🏽👍🏽🔥
I absolutely love this series. You can tell the care and love Rick and the entire team puts into it. It makes me want to go traveling all over Mexico finding these amazing spots. But also, it makes me want to try a lot of these dishes at home. My wife and I love Mexican food, especially authentic Mexican food. Just a fantastic series and everyone involved should be super proud.
This was so fun to watch! It was nice to see the different ways a flour tortilla can be made. I have memories learning how to make them with my tía as well ❤️❤️ can't wait to see the next episode!
I love these episodes of Pruebalo so much!
On any day in March, make Bruno's Hot Dog from The Casagrandes episode, "Dial M for Mustard"
Can't wait to try these! Thanks Rick and everyone in this episode for sharing!
The montage that starts around 6:00 is perfectly done - subject, videography, edits and music. Beautiful.
I LOVE Pruébalo's approach to sharing different food with viewers! He has an extremely easy way of talking with different folks and is very easy to listen to and understand. Thank you SO much for adding him to the Babish Family!
I've been looking everywhere for these! Thanks!
This show is my all time favorite things so far on this channel, so lovely!
This show reminds me of PBS cooking shows, Mexico: One Plate At A Time with Rick Bayless and Pati’s Mexican Table with Pati Jinich. I love both those shows and this one has a similar vibe. Informational and filled with delicious food.
I don't comment a lot, but man. more of this, please. Rick is a delightful presenter and the show is so beautifully shot
I absolutely love the way this was shot and put together. Well done all.
In love with the vibes Rick brings to all these videos.
I’m incredibly glad to have found more Rick content here. What an amazing guy, with unique stories to tell!
i love this show so much! each episode brings a tear to my eyes and reminds me how food unites us all. sending love to all of you!
Amazing…Mexico and it’s people are so beautiful along with their food and culture .
It is so surreal seeing you in places I've been all my life! I love it!!!
I'm absolutely enamored with those masterful frisbee throws in that tortilla shop.
I've been making my own tortillas for years using Robert Rodriguez's recipe (Sin City Breakfast Tacos) so this was very interesting. Only trouble with making your own, as with any bread, is that shop bought then tastes awful in comparison.
Must try it with lard though, I've tended to use butter and I find that when I press them they spring back a lot so end up rolling them.
they talk in the beginning about the lack of gluten in the recipe, i think that is the key to pressing flour ones. you really just want to mix until incorporated, try not to form gluten if you can avoid it.
The tortilla press is heated and precooks the Exterieur of the tortilla before finishing it on the grill. This way it does not spring back.
Either preheat your cast iron press or buy the press . I think the Brand should be "supertortillamachines" -> check the flour tortilla presses
I so love this series. I get learn so much about Mexico and its cultures.
I loved this video! The passion on display is contagious and has me yearning for those tortillas.
I love this video concept- nice getting to meet others and learn wonderful cultural recipes!!!! Love the grill marks
Love Pruebalo, such a fantastic documentary style concept.
We used Carmelo tortillas for breakfast this morning. Alejandra at Red Kitchen turned me on to Sonoran style tortillas. Small world!
Yay Another One I love these
I will never get over the brilliance and beauty of the cinematography of these videos!
Beautiful content on multiple fronts. Well done Rick, Babish, and team!
I'm so glad this series is back!
love this series so much
I love everything about this show. please keep em coming!
I love your videos Rick! They always have a story to them that's personal and beautiful.
Some of these sequences are genuinely on par with the quality of the likes of “chefs table” incredibly impressive, well done 👏👏👏
Amazing show! Always with an awesome production!
What if you made Homer's Roast Pig from The Simpsons episode, "Lisa the Vegetarian"?
New series that I love. Keep it coming Babish
Yes! more Rick! I missed these so much!
This is the comfort content I needed this week.
YEAH man I was so worried this show stopped, super glad to see it's back !
My favorite episode so far!!!!!
Gosh I love this show.
This video was absolutely gorgeous to watch. I found it by searching if Rick had published a tortilla recipe, hoping to finally find a recipe that worked for me. Not only did I get to watch many ways of achieving delicious tortillas, I got an amazing travel/culture/food documentary that I could have watched for another hour. My husband spent several weeks working in Hermosillo over 20 years ago. I was able to join him for a week and loved it there. It was great to see it after so much time. Thank you!
The wordless break from 6:09 to 7:48 was perfection.
I love your heart, Rick. I also love the food stuff, but your goodness is refreshing!
Perfect flour tortillas always make me remember home and childhood! This is awesome!
Nice! Been waiting patiently!
this show is so romantic in how it portrays tortillas!! this is what i always needed
Oh man, I LOVE Rick Martinez. THis episode not only made me hungry, it made me seriously emotional. Just a beautiful video.
I love the rule for tacos usually: the "crappier" the restaurant/stand, the better the tacos. Any high end fancy taco place will not even be in the same league as these half open, smoky, bright TL, plastic table served tacos.
Making flour tortillas with my grandma when I was only 6 is where my love for cooking started. We would make tortillas multiple times a week. I love this series.
I saw this video and was like really a 10 minute video about tortillas?! But it was so beautifully done the 10 minutes FLEW by! I feel like every Mexican has a family tortilla story/memory that we truly love and look back on fondly. Food is more than nourishment for us, it’s part of our soul. ❤
Muchas gracias Rick!
I'm Mexican-American so I know very little about traditional Mexican foods outside of my family's home state in Guanajuato so your videos about other states and their food are always delightful!
Nice, I’ve wanted to visit gunajuato, I always go to tampico or Gonzalez
I was itching for another video of pruebalo! Because everytime he creates a video you can feel the love for the Mexican food and Mexican culture and respect for how it's made. Just always awesome to watch!
We want more videos like this! This was awesome
I love this content, makes me feel so much closer to my family
JUST WHAT I NEEDED BEFORE WEEKEND!
Much love from Croatia ^^
Love it, please give us more of Rick Martinez
So beautifully shot ❤️ you have such a talented team!!
I LOVE Rick, have done since his BA days.
I'm very excited for more of these videos
MY HOMETOWN!!!! Gracias Rick!!!!!!
I love the Pruébalo videos, while I didn't grow up in mexico. I did grow up in California, an a lot of what I see here. Reminds me of things I saw, while growing up. It brings back warm memories, of my cousins grandmother(maternal) making some of these dishes.
That bit from 6:02-7:49 was absolutely stunning. More of that please.
This is my favourite BCU series!
