Stewie has to be the perfect example of why a GM for a team returning to CS would be wary of making an NA team. For some people he is the greatest NA player, so just bluntly calling EG moronic for trusting him is insane.

Ik Stewie is in the wrong here, but are eg really better without him? Haven't seen them at a tier 1 event in months and they bombed out of the challenger stage at the rio major. I guess that is an improvement since they couldn't even make the Antwerp major with Stewie. But its like moving from 5th row to 4th row on an airplane, not really a difference. They were also not present at any of the blast events, and fail to made playoffs at esl pro league season 16.

I've thought about this a bit and I think it's just poorly phrased frustration at essentially spending hundreds of days at either the one place ESL bothers to send players, or the Liquid training facility. NA has a bad history of gatekeeping and washed players staying around too long. But I think there is something to be said about a player like Stewie being given too much too quickly. How would someone not go mad with ego having risen through the ranks of the NA scene as quickly as he did, and so quickly developing an entorage of flatterers and sycophants.
Even early on players like Steel gave him attention publicly reviewing his vods. He's always been a wunderkind.
Strikes me as a player who lead a charmed life ingame and didn't have to deal with teammate's humbling him and putting him in his place early in his career.

Yep, when a prodigy in any field is given too much preferential treatment and coddled to this degree early on, it’s only natural they develop a massive ego and often times that ego can be their downfall as we can see in this case. It’s even worse when their level of play/proficiency begins to falter earlier than expected because that ego of a prodigy/star will still be there while their level of talent can no longer justify their ego.

Think we all know Complexity is the better team and they should have qualified. They started off 2-0 and looked great but you saw where the fatigue took in. They lost quite a few rounds on Overpass they should have won, especially in OT. Either way, I think Imperial making it is a better story than complexity making it even though I wanted COL To win. @@larry2281 It was a really unfortunate draw for Col, they only lost to #1 NA, #2 Brazil, and 00nation who IMO are themselves top 3 Brazil but just haven't earned the rank yet since picking up Coldzera and Try.
And of course the current #2 BR and (imo actual #2 or #3 BR) both consist of the SK/Luminosity era players, who were trying to qualify for the first ever Brazil major - something that wouldn't even be happening if not for their accomplishments and legacy. Those four wanted this as much, if not more, than anyone else. FalleN has hinted he's retiring after this. Cold said that he isn't even going to the gym anymore due to how hard he's grinding CS.
I love Taco and I'm so glad he made it, even if at Cols expense. I'm happy for all of them :) and the fans... first Rio Major just wouldn't be the same without them. I agree with you 1000% this is a better storyline, to a such a degree that IMO it would've been a tragedy if either Imperial or 00Nation didn't qualify.
Col got unlucky with a very difficult draw, but WP, they delivered some of the best games of all of the RMRs vs 00Nation and Imperial, both were real nail-biters. They'll be back stronger and continue their upwards momentum :)

Coming from a similar background as Stewie, I can understand the mentality. He's told his story about strict parents who condoned videogaming, because at the time, being a videogame pro was just not common and first generational parents will probably want you to get a corporate job. Not having parents that support you and validate what you do has probably made him fully reliant on himself. After winning a major AND a Grand Slam, how could anyone ever tell him what he did was wrong? The ego was on top of the world. Nobody to correct his behaviour.
And now the world has caught up to his mechanical skills, plenty of IGLs that do it way better than him, so what he does isn't so unique anymore and all that's left is his ego to watch his career go down. It will be a good test to see how much he actually cares to improve as a person. If there's any hunger left. Or he will just be another Twitch streamer trying to leech off others while vaping his future away.

This was honestly a good synopsis of all of this shit. I've got a unrelated question though for someone to chime in and answer. Where does a lot of the hate for RL and Thorin come from? Is there a timeline of how shit went down the shitter? Or is it just because they'll occasionally say shit that is more or less against the grain?

Because of previous dramas with those 2 at the centre of all of the fire and drama, they’re journalists so you gotta imagine they’re hearing stories and instantly validating them to write articles to get a bag, which then players started to dislike things that were said and same with orgs, eventually leaving a bad name for both of them, The other guy Thorin has said some absolutely ridiculous things on public mention, purely to be the centre of attention, people called him out for it many times before, like the UA-camr who came through called DAN M who used to call out pro players for cheating, these 2 ganged up on him and slandered him off the internet with their positions.. after Dan M was castrated from the internet at least 15 diff pro cheating scandals have happened including the coach stream sniping drama… DAN M was a bit much but he didn’t deserve what happened to him because of these 2 guys, and that’s not the only career they have been at the forefront of ruining, but it’s purely because of journalism.

Which is funnier in 2022 to think about Dan M and these guys because he was kind of right in a sense, just not 100% correct, instead of re aligning him and helping him on his journey they both straight up bad mouthed him, slandered him, mugged him out & made him to be a delusional fool, only for exact things he spoke of to end up being investigated 😂😂😂😂

This reminds me of the drama that occured shortly after Cloud9 won the Boston Major in 2018 between m0e and Stewie. M0e basically called out stew for having an inflated ego after his major win. Crazy world we live in when m0e was right for once.

Yea. The pro players hated Stewie because he played braindead and constantly pushed smokes, and because Stewie has a problem with listening to authority he pushed smokes even more. It work out for him to get on a team as an underdog but now that he is experienced he has complete control of his team but not enough braincells to make it work, and his ego won’t allow himself to listen to someone that is smarter than him.
