Not that it matters in the context of shiros signature , but the Z , not the others like v etc is literally being used in televised propaganda, clothing and even children's toys in Russia to promote the conflict.
@@LMPC2012 i believe that, but it was originally used to show which borders/countries the troops/vehicles invaded from. but shiro didnt pick it and its obvious it was made well before this war, never saw these in donestk or luhansk before the build up to the invasion

I stopped paying attention to Ukraine the moment I realised it was virtually impossible to tell truth from fiction so I may be seriously ignorant.
But I think it's maybe a stretch to call a Z a hate symbol in any way.
In the way it's commonly used, I think it's more often than not a hate symbol. Often times, Russian ultranationalists use it to demean Ukrainians who are suffering or outright deny the existence of their suffering. If that doesn't have hateful intentions, I'm not sure what does. The Z symbol arose specifically out of this conflict to justify the war and the many civilian atrocities. It's not a symbol which existed beforehand, like a nation's flag, which has different meaning for different people. There's only one meaning for Z, that is the justification of military aggression and all the suffering that it entails. Obviously not nearly as bad as a swastika or something, but still fucked up nonetheless. Like the case with the Dota player, who decided to draw that knowing there were Ukrainians on the other side, it's hard to argue that there wasn't a hateful connotation there, deliberate or not, that the Ukrainians rightfully took offense to.

Obviously DoTA lad was trying to wind up his opponents but I find it hard to believe people honestly link that with him approving of the invasion. As opposed to just swinging on the enemy team to try and set them off.
@@Jonabob87 Yeah, I agree. A Z can just be a Z sometimes and the little squiggle underneath Shiro was just that, a little flourish (I've made the same flourish too a bunch of times).
But with the Dota guy, yeah, I don't think he's super politically involved and doesn't really know what he's writing out. But regardless, like you said, he was trying to wind them up and used a symbol he knew was going to do just that. So that just proves it's still hateful, even if he isn't fully aware of the Z's connotation. Regardless of if he actually approves of the invasion, he still employed a fucked-up symbol in a spiteful manner and deserves the ban imo.

Late to this as I've been watching the NMC. I think I remember saying on the subreddit that it was super embarrasing of nel to say what he said and how it probably took 20 minutes for you to figure out how much of a non-issue this 'drama' was. Fucking hell. I wish Shiro the best. And all the other Russians and Ukrainians at these times. What an awful timeline.

Let’s hope that boombl4 gets out of that marriage and moves to another country. I think it would be best, first and foremost, for him, but also for navi and the scene. Obviously it’s his personal relationship and it’s up to him to decide, but man, there are a lot of red flags of a toxic relationship and I think he should get out of it ASAP for his own good.
