What I like about the undertaker is that he doesn’t kill anyone or do anything. He merely sits on the well staring and waiting for the death of someone to happen.
The mere presence of The Undertaker is enough to get an entire town to slaughter each other over the fear of the unknown.
well thats the thing. an undertaker isnt a killer. its just someone that takes away the body to bury. This undertaker(although supernatural and somewhat sinister) is no different. In fact the townfolk know it. They understand he is there to take away an evil soul and they know he comes when he predicts there to be death. So they take it apon themselves to choose the next death to save themselves but death is inevitable and just because you kill someone else it doesnt mean your time isnt coming. This is the flaw of the people. They became the very thing they tried to prevent. Fear ruled them and they payed for it.

Also:Look at who these poor unfortunate souls are listening to:A False Prophet, that just wants to have everything his way, and that'll even twist the Scriptures, in order to get what he wants. This guy is a perfect example of a Cult Leader, therefore he's the perfect example of who not to listen to. Because of his fear-mongering ways, he causes the crowd that had followed him, to turn against one another, and then, suddenly, we see that the only one who broke away from the power of his false teachings, is big ole Bubba! He realized that he'd done wrong, so, even though he dies for it!
Definitely showing how religion is a hoax and how everyone follows it without question. Kinda like how the left is perpetuating this narrative across the country and dumbasses are buying it 🤷🏻♂️

This was my first exposure to religious horror and, boy let me tell you, it was effective. One of the BEST short films I have EVER seen.
I just love the animation. How everything feels painted and grime and rusted. It's a perfect touch.

best thing to do is learn first go to church before judgeing it I went as a kid and chose later that it wasnt for me but they teach good values I send my kids to church now and later in life they can both choose weather its for them or not but they will have learned good values dont let a few bad priests ruin what you believe there are very kind christian's out there .

I saw this animation yeeears ago and watching it now as someone who's especially fond of animation, I can appreciate it so much more then I did when I first saw it. This short is beautifully done however dark and bloody it may be. The use of color is on point, with sephia shades at the start fading into dreary darkness as the people isolated themselves from a man who did nothing but sit and wait to do his job. The red backdrop that frames the priest as he encourages the people to commit an act far worse then anything committed by the one they deamed a sinner, followed just total darkness overtaking everything as they all decide to tear eachother apart even though they'd already given the Undertaker a body to tend to?? Absolute art.

this still holds up for me even to this day
Imagine how the story would have ended if the busker left town before the townsfolk turned on him.
It would have changed nothing of the town outcome. If it wasn’t him, it would have been someone else.
10/10, good voice acting, nice animation style and art style. I find this film flawless and good.
I never laughed so hard. this short movie gets a A+++. They all killed other because they where afraid of him. Nice charisma.
This whole animation is a representation of the fear of the death toxic manipulation. The villagers are all scared of the death at a point they lock themselves out, being paranoid, fall into alcohol and everything. At the end, when they though they kill the one who the undertaker was here for, they over panicked and, desperate, kill themselves to survive. The fear of the death force you to kill the others.
He was right about there being a bad apple. Just not who it was.
This is one of the scariest, (and goriest) animation I've ever seen! The animation in this is phenomenal, and the story line/plot, was ingenuous! I really hope you come out with much more, in the near future! 😊✨

Fear drives people completely insane don’t let it do the same to you no matter what this situation happens in real life people kill other people because how scared and almost to the brink of insanity they are.

This town is called Black water the same name as the time from my dad redemption also it’s art style reminds me of the in the game The Walking Dead it’s art style seems kind of similar.

this video is a trip.... anyways I think the father was the one who made this people like this.... the poor man didn't want to go to the church cuz he new how crazy the father was the poor man believed in good n evil... n the father didn't like him bcuz he never went to church or he never believed want he was saying.... n the undertaker didn't do anything to the poor man, he never talked bad about him even when he was singing. He was just saying who he is... the undertaker wanted the father only, he was the one who was making people crazy..
I was just thinking the undertaker was there in good time to know one or more would die in that town shortly.
Him being an angel of death does not mean he there to kill you or punnish for your wrong doing, he just as there as time is. If he is enything than he is just there to help you get to the afterlife by first casting a littel dirt on you.
He didten kill enyone, he didten say enything, he just waitet there for good weather when the town had allready become a ghost town to first than start working on caskets.
But yes you are right, the father made people paranoid, irrational and obidient to him with his speech of fear and
promise of good if they all follow him and threw out enyone who didten follow his teachings.
I think the giant was afraid of sin flood from Noahs ark old bibel story and therefore feared an ordinary heavy rain storm, as gods wrath.

Oh boy, I remember this one. What a horrific story. It reminds me of the stories of the Massacre of Verden. Either you converted to Christianity or you would be "saved."
Funny thing is, it's never specifically said that the tramp is not a christian.

Stephen Catton. In case you all didn't know, a man like the Preacher REALLY DID EXIST! He was the Salem Preacher from the Witch Trial Period. He murdered countless women aided by his young daughter & niece (they were just kids at the time) because the Town Councillors were going to throw him out for bad conduct. A Councilman's Elderly Wife was among the murdered women.

What year this short took place?
Are you asking when this Short first came out or are you asking what timeliness does the story take place? If the former, this short premiered in 2011, I remember first watching it in middle school. If the latter, I believe this story takes place in the early 20th Century, judging by the squalor the town is in and the model of the car the Tramp owns, possibly the 1930s during the Great Depression when global poverty claimed everyone.

to many people bash on religion but you know what the kindest people you will find are christian and a few bad leaders or priests let power go to there head but the bible does teach good values thats why I make my kids go to church they can choose later like I did I dont like church but I went as a kid and learned a lot so I think its good to know about and choose after for your selfs .

Talented Satan Worshipers a.k.a Atheists made this very colorfully styled Short Story and I have to say it's execution is superb. Loved that Textured look. It is hilarious how Atheist see Christianity, makes me feel all fuzzy inside. I guess we can also know where the person(s) who pick these types of Shorts Religious Loyalties lay too. Has anyone else noticed CGI mainly posts nothing really worth watching along actual entertainment lines unless you're obsessed with death or someone, like me, who appreciates the efforts put in to to making of CG. Crazed Carebear Worshipping Satan is NOT the same thing as worshipping nothing at all. Perhaps you need to educate yourself on what the difference is between Atheism, Satanism, and Agnosticism. All totally different and separate things...
There are only two sides. You are either for God or against. Satan is called the ANTI- Christ for a reason. If you say you believe in nothing then you are against God and therefore on Satan's side whether you think of it that way or not. Maybe you should think a bit longer on that subject before attempting to school me. Thanks for you're opinion.
Crazed Carebear Interesting point, and from a Christian view, you are correct; if you're not on God's side, then, by process of elimination, you must be on Satan's side. But, for an Atheist, believing that God doesn't exist also translates into the belief that Satan is simply a part of the Christian fairytale as well. Therefore, the Atheist is NOT a Satan worshipper, as they simply don't care what that book of fiction written approximately 2,000 years ago has to say on the matter of magical beings deciding our post-life fate.

This story is not a Christianity V. Atheism story.
It's showing that religious leaders can lie and turn ways of the bible in such a way they are right.
The "father" said the cripple hobo was the bad apple in the barrel, but actually he himself was. And because of him all the people died.
The story never told the cripple dude was a believer or not. Only that he knew the "father" did not walk the way of God.
The story does not really attack the bible, it just attacks liers.

From your point of view you are correct. However, something else you might consider. Atheists like Evolutionists have a ton more Blind Faith than any Christian; with an extreme lack of Evidence to support their Beliefs. Of course I'm assuming most Atheists never looked for God or taken the Bible seriously and rejected it out of hand without digging deeper because they might find out they're wrong and listened to Unreliable People to form their Beliefs. Which I also consider these People are also in the Churches as the next poster points out. History has told us this can happen and has. This is getting to be a sermon so I'll say bye and we can agree to disagree.
