Hello. I'm stuck on Step 8. I right clicked on the gearsofwar2006 folder to open terminal and the folder name is missing. Trying to see what I did wrong
I followed all the steps installed everything and when I launch the game I get the warning that my system requirements are too low do you want to continue, I press yes and then black screen with 1 FPS any advice?
the message only prompts when it's the first time running the game. won't have that afterwards. i'm not sure why you have black screen with 1 fps, mine boots fine.

What did I do wrong! 😂 The error flashes up and then closes faster than I can press any of the buttons. Anyone have the solution?? Thanks in advance!
@@GrownUpGamingGUG no D drive is my internal memory drive, I have other games saved there, it’s where I chose the gears directory to be Edit: just checked, yeah it is internal memory, I might have to redo the process, not sure why it’s on my internal memory 😂
Deleted everything, then followed your video again and even put all the files in the same position as the ones in your video but ended up with the same error (apart from the drive was z this time). Not sure why it won’t work for me

Just play around with it. Update the bios, set the vram to auto. I wouldn't recommend using AMD drivers yet, just update the drivers from Lenovo first and play some games.

The prerequisite is you need to have the game and it's on your steam deck. If you don't have those then this video won't magically put the game on your steam deck.

I have an original copy of the game which I have installed and extracted the Gears of War folder from, but when I run the startup.exe file the first time, I see you get the Gears of War Startup.exe Splash screen (at 4:46), i'm not getting the Gears of War Splash screen; it says something about not having the DVD. I don't really have any more options, so I go to the next steps and run the script, which then fails after a little bit with this error: fixing the game launcher... './dl/default.htm' -> '/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2419364105/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft Games/Gears of War/CurrentSite/default.htm' cp: cannot create regular file '/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2419364105/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft Games/Gears of War/CurrentSite/default.htm': No such file or directory Then if I try to set up that file structure myself and add a blank default.htm, it gets to the end, where it tries to install Games for Windows Live, and I got through the rest of the steps, which seem ok, but when I try to run the game the first time, I get an error saying "Please insert the correct DVD-ROM, click OK and restart the application" What could I be doing wrong? I know the No-CD patch works as well, as I've tested with a standard windows install. I'm trying to run the script against it again, but still seem to get the missing default.htm file error.

Brilliant guide. I had trouble with it detecting my Deck constrols but the gamepad layout "S. K GoW controller mapping" worked for me.

Why do you need to use PortProton?

If you use lutris you can also put everything in one prefix folder if you want.

Haven't tried, you should try it, just make the game run in the same prefix folder with all the dependencies installed already.

No working for me, make all the steps, at the end, when i pressStart game from steam, i only see a windows with the title: "Default - Wine Desktop"

That managed to connect after a while. All done. When I launch game I get black screen. Nothing loads not even box to say hardware not compatible
Did you put the gfwl.exe in the dl directory? If the file is not there then it will try to download but the server is down so it keeps trying.

Did you change the settings, if you turn on the directx setting at the bottom it will make the game unbootable.

You may need a patch but I can't give you any links.

for me i can change resolution and save game no problem. is it because we have different game files maybe?
