Did you drop the game as a single folder into the PS3 emulation game folder. Make sure you move the game folder into emulation games folder. It should just be one folder for the game.

I was extremely frustrated after the last major emudeck update however .. What it did do was force me to manually go and sort out yuzu so now i know i will always have yuzu available to me But to give credit to the emudeck team, the last update has fixed quite a few things within emulator updates and controller setups as well as add more emulators like model 2 and 3 Yes,agreed that when the update came out neither model 2 or 3 even worked and steam rom manager was broken but its all fixed now and actually yuzu is re enabled but you still need to supply the yuzu appimage which isnt too difficult to find Now on topic of standalone emulators ... You do realise that emudeck DOES install all of these emulators as a stand alone application And within steam rom manager, you can scrape them as an entire folder onto your steam deck library and then run the emulators directly, and at least most if not all legwork is done for you,you dont actually need to run emulation station unless you want to And as far is losing these emulators go,well just go into the installed directory for emudeck and copy them all to your sd card I simply wish there was a more safe and secure way of actually updating emudeck, currently it seems far too easy to just click or touch the screen when running the app in decktop mode and accidentally updating, you get very little warning, the english prompts and instructions often dont make much sense either For instance,i knew a major update came out,i ran emudeck because i wanted to add games and use steam rom manager,by the time i launched emudeck,i hit the update button that appeared by mistake They need to add an option to turn off updates entirely so you can wait for issues to be ironed out,you simply dont get much of a warning,i also think the last big update felt like a temptation for many with the lure of new emulators not realising yuzu would be disabled For me,it updated and broke soo many things that i was forced to reinstall everything and that is where i lost yuzu so its no wonder than some of us are a bit pissed off, emudeck may make things easier for us but alot of hard work still goes into setting up games and artwork, controller set ups and game saves only to lose it all with an update This is not to say that i dont appreciate emudeck,i value it highly and i think the folks behind it are brillian
Thanks for the comment. I agree with you. the current way of emudeck updating just don't make any sense. User should have the option to choose update or not. The EmuDeck will just update right away when you accidentally open it up. I have no idea why the Emu team do this way, it feels they have controls for everything you want or you dont want. I hope they can get rid of the current way of updating and make it a truly user friendly app for gamers to use. so we can decided to update or not by ourselves.
you can manually create hdd0 folder. go to rpcs3 emulator -manage- virtual files system - select dev_hdd0 tab then click + icon navigate to your PS3 Emulation folder - click choose. the hdd0 folder will be created for you.

is skate 3 playable with this standalone rpcs3? because in emudeck they dont play good :( in your video what settings to play skate flawless like that?
I mean it's all up to you. EmuDeck most of time has no issues. but some time the update just mess up the whole thing, the worst thing is you cannot deny the updates, it will force you update once you open up emudeck. The standalone emulator is more stable and everything is in your own control.

Dude that white steam deck is cleaaaannn! How did you do that? It doesn’t even look like a skin. Looks like an official Steam product. Did you take the whole thing apart and paint or something?
Do all ps3 games work ok using this method? I tried to get motorstorm to work but there is big time lag
On mine, the games load up in desktop mode but won't work in gaming mode. It freezes on the shader screen In gaming mode. It says something like, loading shaders from the disk. I read on Reddit that downloading the RSPC3 version from the Dolphin store fixes this but I can't find any RSPC3 downloads on the Dolphin site. Has anybody else had this issue and found a fix?.
Thanks man, finally i've found working tutorial and configured my steamdeck ps3)
I personally like "Batocera" on a separate SD card.
yeah thats good too. will make a dedicated video for Batocera soon.
Hi Ed, how do you get the ps3 games to display full screen on the deck ?
You can set the emulator launch gaming in full screen mode by default. There is a setting you can do from desktop mode.
@@ED4T Thanks Ed !
Before I would just launch a gamecube game in gaming mode and it would launch, but NOW when I launch a gamecube game it goes to the dolphin menu and I have to select the game though the dolphin menu. It never did that until now.... Any tips?
Same with my rpcs3 games like wtf did emudeck do
they messed up the configuration files. just use standalone . i will do a video will gamecue standalone soon.
Why emudeck is bad? Because emudeck is bad! You do knlw when you install emudeck you don't need to deal with it again right?
Hey Ed! I have Skate 3 i downloaded onto my steam deck and it came as a dec.iso file so i transferred it back to my pc to use 7zip to extract it and then moved that file back to my steamdeck and dropped the file into the PS3 Emulation Games folder but it still doesnt show up on RPCS3 what did i do wrong?
Did you drop the game as a single folder into the PS3 emulation game folder. Make sure you move the game folder into emulation games folder. It should just be one folder for the game.
@@ED4T Yes it is. It’s the exact same as the other folders i have for games that RPCS3 does Read.
So that means you might gave a corrupted iso file from the original.
@@ED4T i figured out what i did wrong but i encountered an even bigger problem. I went through each game i have and updated the game's version pkg file. When i closed out the games to make sure they were working properly in game mode i went back to desktop mode and noticed all the updates were gone and for some reason the appimage keeps duplicating when i open it from the ps3 emulation folder. When i open it, it tells me i have an update. then tells me RPCS3 needs to restart so i hit ok and then a new file is created. I spent an hour downloading each individual pkg file just for them to be reset.
I have a problem. When I play mgs4 rom on windows, it works. Then I play on steamdeck (desktop mode) it keep saying boot failed. How to fix this?
Bro can test god of war ps3 on steamdeck
It only runs 10fps not playable on deck. tested before.
I could never get PS3 or Xbox 360 emulation to work with ED anyway. I just ended up installing the emulator through desktop mode and adding it to Steam. Works perfectly that way. No idea why ED just refuses to work with these 2 emulators.
You can use emudeck to do all of this automatically and then don't use it to update if you don't feel like updating ?
Was thinking of emulating some PS3 games and really didnt wanna deal with EMU deck, you sir are my hero right now!
thank you man.
Why you don’t want to deal with EMU DECK ?
@@Luluah. because it corrupts your SD card and breaks all your emulators constantly for no reason
I have been playing a lot of ps2 on my steam deck and can get around 8-9 hours out of a full charge, how much battery does the ps3 emulator use?
1.5 to 2 hours at max
Hey!
Do I have to uninstall Emu to try this method and also uninstall RPCS3 that I got through emu deck to try this method?
I keep getting a path error when I try to install the pkg file.
Please upload tutorial for adding cheats to pcsx2 via emudeck?
will try but no promise.
@@ED4T it's quick and easy I think but think the wider community should know
Can you PLEASE do a video on how to get the 60fps in Skate 3 as shown at the start of the vid? I'm begging you
i did everything, but when i launch a game from gaming mode my steam deck controls wont work, only if i launch from desktop mode it works. Any thoughts on how to fix?
make sure your controller layout is using gampad with joystick trackpad in the gaming mode. after launching a ps3 game then press steam button select controller layout.
you can fix the controller this way. the new RPCS3 updates on Mar 27th somehow messed up the steam deck gaming mode.
but we can fix this easily
go to steam deck desktop mode - open standalone RPCS3 appimage - configuration - Pads - Under Play1 - change Handlers to Evdev then under devices it should show Microsoft -Xbox 360 Pad 0 - click save. that's all
Now, the controller will work in both desktop mode & gaming mode.
@@ED4T thanks but this didn’t work for me, I fixed it using a different method tho
That’s great to hear so you don’t have to hanging there.
Thank you so much! What does deleting one of the percentages do exactly?
I hate emudeck. It just ruins the steam deck experience. All my retro games are on a separate device.
So when i copy my .iso files into games folder. They do not pop up on emulator even after refresh and closing/reopening. If you could help me out a lil bit that be great thanks
Great step by step tutorial. Love your videos. I’m having some issues with getting my controller to work properly, if I select Steam Virtual Gamepad 1 under SDL, the Steam deck controller does not work in game. I have another selection under SDL named Steam Deck 1. If I select it, it works in game but then I get random on screen keyboard openings. I’m not sure what is going on. Any ideas?
Thank you. I believe you have some controller layouts is on under the gaming mode. You can try to put to virtual gamepad 1 under SDL and then start a game from gaming mode press steam button and put the controller layout into joystick mode.
@@ED4T if I set it to SDL Virtual Gamepad 1 in the emulator and then launch the game from the Steam Deck’s Gaming Mode, I get a prompt telling me that “Wireless controller has been disconnected. Please reconnect the controller and press Start to continue “. The game is Dante’s Inferno but that shouldn’t matter.

What's the games like as I know not every game will work. Need a good powerful pc for that
@ED4T i put the iso in the games folder and refreshed the emulator and nothing is showing up
I'm having issue with the controls. My rpcs3 shows 2 devices when i select SDL on pads menu, steam deck 1 and steam virtual gamepad 1. Have u tried TLOU PS3 on Steam Deck ? Does it run well ?
is there any other emulators? even when i right click on the icon for rpcs3 afterimage i get no option to open the file and i running it in console does nothing
Am I the only one who installed the stand alone emulator it worked perfectly but after an update I can now only play from desktop mode on steam mode the controller doesn’t work anymore?

Emudeck was great but today it just SUCKS big time! 🙄🙄
I didn’t get a games folder in my ps3 emulator folder
If you have the hdd0 folder but no game folder just manual create a new folder and name it as game.
@@ED4TThe hdd0 folder is missing too
you can manually create hdd0 folder. go to rpcs3 emulator manage virtual files system - select dev_hdd0 tab then click + icon navigate to your PS3 Emulation folder - click choose. the hdd0 folder will be created for you.
When I load the game from steam OS, the controls won’t work, but when I play in desktop mode the controls work, but when I press “B” it interacts as if I’m minimizing the game.

DO I need to unnistall EMU deck all together?
It doesn’t matter. It’s up to you. They are running separately. The standalone rpcs3 and EmuDeck.
I am getting a weird error when trying to get to recognize the folder to load the games . WHen I go Virtual File System and add the correct path, I click save and get a "Fatal Error" Segfault reading location. I am not sure how to go around that.@@ED4T
try to install firmware then reboot steam deck.
I was extremely frustrated after the last major emudeck update however ..
What it did do was force me to manually go and sort out yuzu so now i know i will always have yuzu available to me
But to give credit to the emudeck team, the last update has fixed quite a few things within emulator updates and controller setups as well as add more emulators like model 2 and 3
Yes,agreed that when the update came out neither model 2 or 3 even worked and steam rom manager was broken but its all fixed now and actually yuzu is re enabled but you still need to supply the yuzu appimage which isnt too difficult to find
Now on topic of standalone emulators ...
You do realise that emudeck DOES install all of these emulators as a stand alone application
And within steam rom manager, you can scrape them as an entire folder onto your steam deck library and then run the emulators directly, and at least most if not all legwork is done for you,you dont actually need to run emulation station unless you want to
And as far is losing these emulators go,well just go into the installed directory for emudeck and copy them all to your sd card
I simply wish there was a more safe and secure way of actually updating emudeck, currently it seems far too easy to just click or touch the screen when running the app in decktop mode and accidentally updating, you get very little warning, the english prompts and instructions often dont make much sense either
For instance,i knew a major update came out,i ran emudeck because i wanted to add games and use steam rom manager,by the time i launched emudeck,i hit the update button that appeared by mistake
They need to add an option to turn off updates entirely so you can wait for issues to be ironed out,you simply dont get much of a warning,i also think the last big update felt like a temptation for many with the lure of new emulators not realising yuzu would be disabled
For me,it updated and broke soo many things that i was forced to reinstall everything and that is where i lost yuzu so its no wonder than some of us are a bit pissed off, emudeck may make things easier for us but alot of hard work still goes into setting up games and artwork, controller set ups and game saves only to lose it all with an update
This is not to say that i dont appreciate emudeck,i value it highly and i think the folks behind it are brillian
I’ll be waiting for the Xenia tutorial, thanks.
7:14 I can’t find hdd0 file
you can manually create hdd0 folder. go to rpcs3 emulator -manage- virtual files system - select dev_hdd0 tab then click + icon navigate to your PS3 Emulation folder - click choose. the hdd0 folder will be created for you.
I installed the firmware and it showed the firmware in the list of games but when i restarted, it was gone
Same emulator, 2 ways to have it... I prefer just EmuDeck is easier.
When I went to download the update from the ps website, the file keeps getting corrupted
Why is that happening ?
Try with a different internet browser .
good tutorial but i have a problem, when you show the new folders that were added in the PS3 Emulation folder, on my screen i am missing the games folder and dev_hdd0 folder.
You can try redo the file patch step. Or you can manually create hdd0 folder from the virtual file manager tab.
Lol emudeck wiped my fear effect save with that update as well as wiping my rom and iso art covers smh
wow, thats a terrible epx with EmuDeck.

Is it still ok to do PS2 via Emudeck after the update, or should I go the standalone route for PS2 as well?
I mean it's all up to you. EmuDeck most of time has no issues. but some time the update just mess up the whole thing, the worst thing is you cannot deny the updates, it will force you update once you open up emudeck. The standalone emulator is more stable and everything is in your own control.
