I said this when another streamer played this just a few days ago, and I gotta say it again: This is the Dreamcastiest Dreamcast game that ever Dreamcasted.
>"Please tell me there's a dinosaur" >Immediately followed by the Activision logo Well, they _are_ the oldest contiguous video game company, so I guess that counts?
This game looks like they got the people that worked on Bust-a-Groove and NiGHTS into Dreams and forced them to make a Dino Crisis / Resident Evil clone.
The graphics in this look like they aged decently well. They’re not exactly gorgeous but, they’re not too smudged or blocky like many of the time. It legit looks like it would still be fun to play.
@@dranyth thabks, I noticed that, I thought that they meant that the meteor did that... anyway the earthquake thing is way worse because we don’t have earthquakes on this part of Mexico... anyways, I’m looking too much into it, sorry.
I'm glad this went as far as Christmas town. I remember the tonal whiplash with what was already a tonally inconsistent experience. If you spend the time to collect the stamps and grind money you get some pretty absurd weapons like the laser blade early on.
@@kappinr-m80s23 lol, yes we do. That's why I said "skip to Toy Hunter" not skip it entirely. 😆 Toy Hunter and Killer Department Store are probably my favorite levels in the game, but if he had to play just 1, definitely Toy Hunter.
Can we get more Blue Stinger?? This game brings back all the nostalgia of bad voice acting and weird narrative tone problems. Still damn fun to play, though.
Oh man, it's 3:33 am here, I just saw a friend playing Crazy Taxi 2 on an android pocket console, so I went and downloaded an emulator, and played Crazy Taxi 2 for a while, then I jumped on lists of Dramcast games, and I finally end up here on this video. I had this game, no english on my vocabulary yet. This game was bad, really bad, but I couldn't stop playing hours and hours. Now I just heard 2 seconds of that damn song, and yes, still burned into my brain.
I'd love for there to be a Blue Stinger remake. So much potential in that game since it had a solid foundation and just needed some fine tuning in a number of areas.
Yeah, the music is so, so weird lol. It's good quality music but WTF is going on? Also, I really wish Dreamcast was more successful and maybe we'd have a Dreamcast 3 releasing this year.
The comparison to Dead Rising in the video is pretty accurate. Basically the game takes place during Christmas, and the music we keep hearing is supposed to be festive while everything around you is fubar. It's kinda like how the mall in Dead Rising will continue to play automated upbeat mall music during the day while you're surrounded by zombies and carnage.
@@EvilTediz597 yeah no kidding huh, wouldn't mind seeing more of Matt bumbling his way through Blue Stinger, it looks like the gift that keeps on giving. XD
Yeah, it's really weird to hear such good music performed by a real orchestra for some random ass Dreamcast title. BTW the music was done by Toshihiko Sahashi, a really great and talented composer
I love Blue Stinger. It is the best game ever on Dream Cast. Once you get into it you want to finish it you just got to get past the controls and camera angles
I used to play this every December, because it's a "Christmas Game". Actually started trying to speed run it until my Dreamcast stopped working. Dogs Bower is such a dork, I love his cosplay powers. Wear a Sumo Shirt? Sumo Slap. Wear a Wrestler shirt? Dropkick.
Man I still love this game. It was the game I got with my DC a few days after launch. I just replayed it not even a week ago. It's not great by any means and definitely a b-movie RE clone. Yet I still find charm in it's jankiness. A few fun things of note: Occasionally when the coins pop out of the dead monsters it almost makes it seem like they're shitting them out upon death. You totally killed a guy with the shuttle A and B two minute countdown. You have to activate the computer terminal on the left in the first room at the top of A's elevator shaft. If you save the dude you get a napalm launcher which is a nice powerful weapon for boss fights. And lastly a full playthrough of this game is highly recommended for anyone who hasn't. Without spoiling anything the story is increasingly insane and hilarious. Exploration pays off so if you want better weapons for free and a bunch of goodies along the way make sure to poke around.
Is there a Blue Stinger holiday I missed? I just steamed the Japanese version and then noticed everyone else was doing it at the same time. Weird coincidence.
I remember seeing screenshots for this game before release and being absolutely blown away by the explosion effects. I honestly couldn't believe they were in game. I need to dig out my copy and play it again.
I actually loved this game back in the day. It was the first game where I heard someone swear, and that was a shocker to me. There was also something about beating enemies, to get coins, and buying better guns. I should do an in depth analysis of this game one day as a forgotten game that I just love!
One big thing I remembered was this being a game I first owned on the SEGA Dreamcast and that was the one game I had issues with was with the disc. Each time I'd go to the store to swap discs, they'd have warps on the bottom making them unplayable. After finally getting the right disc, I personally had my fun with the game. Remembered the game having it's share of issues but certainly was one title I wouldn't mind replaying one day again. Would certainly be cool for a remake or reimagining down the line.
Loved the Super Replay that Game Informer did of this year's ago :P All the games by Climax Graphics/Crazy Games - this and Illbleed - like many Dreamcast games were very unique & desperately deserve to see re-releases on modern systems and PC.
It’s your Dreamcast man. I had to buy several copies of quake 3 arena chu chu rocket and blue stinger. These copies were really nice and one was perfect and factory sealed. I recently bought another Dreamcast and it plays every single copy I bought and plays all my games including the ones that look like they were cleaned with sandpaper. it’s probably the capacitors. I got my old one fixed and problem solved.
Always saw the cover art of Blue Stinger but no actual gameplay until many years later thanks to the internet 😅. This was one of those Dreamcast games that peaked my curiosity as a child due to the cover art like other Dreamcast horror games like D2, Illbleed, Carrier, and Nightmare Creatures 2.
