Could u imagine it done on new hardware? Ive always liked voodoo and legit zombies...like there is a great game in there ...just needs help getting out
This is the game that scared the shit out of me the most when i was a kid, the atmosphere was not just dark but very eerie and unsettling specially on some of the serial killers levels, and the Asylum was one of the creepiest places just listen to the Playrooms soundtrack, it's probably the most disturbing game song i've heard.
*Dude, you made me remember I was scared shitless of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I never made it past the potion classes. I was terrorized of the Trolls. I had nightmares about the dungeons, and all.*
God, they talked like this would be a revolution in gaming. I don't think I've ever met anyone who actually played it; even my brother had a copy for the N64 and he never played it.
As a kid I remember seeing this game at Blockbuster with a big ol' "For mature audiences only" warning and Naturally we HAD to rent it! I think it mostly confused me and my brothers more than anything just trying to figure out what the hell we were supposed to be doing. It wasn't until years later when I got the GOG version when I realized it's basically Banjo Kazooie, just dark sould instead of jiggies. Surprisingly enough, the GOG version is still very playable, full wide screen resolution, runs smooth as butter, and you can set the controls very comfortably to work with an Xbox controller. I think it's $5 so... yeah. My main gripe with it however is the combat. it's boring and repetitive. You're basically just circle strafing and shooting until the thing is dead. Also the Gun sound is terrible! The best part is just the exploration and story. for a late 90's game it's pretty interesting. Literally real serial killers and psychopaths join together to destroy the world under the guide of Legion, you know, from the Bible (with obvious liberties taken)! Not the best story but... interesting. I find the most fun part is just exploring the levels and searching every area for collectibles and secrets.
I wanted to like this game so much as a kid but holy crap I could just never figure out what to do in Deadside. I'm almost positive that in this short video you got further than I ever got despite multiple attempts
Wowzers in my trousers. This was posted 4 days ago. That's uber. And to know that a remaster is on the way just wow... This is incredible. Also not sure if many other Shadowman players know this but there are ways to get Govis and accessing areas of the game where you cheat many levels of shadow power. Basically bypassing areas of the maps to get govis and leveling up the shadow power much much faster even getting ahold of some weapons early in the game. :)
"Hey you know those preview pics behind the box with headless guys shooting you?" -Yeah? "Yeah well, that's actually in the real world, not in deadside." -Sweet.
I remember playing this game with my cousin on N64. I think he owned it, and maybe I borrowed it. I enjoyed it from what I remember, but I was 10 in '99 so most of it probably went over my head. Never played the sequel thankfully but I would like to see at least a couple more of these vids.
Really like the setting for this game, I can only describe it as "Bayou Noire", but sadly I find controls and some level dsign a bit questionable. I still really like it's unique world though
You know with all these playthroughs of Dreamcast ports being played recently on the channel, I think it's time to revisit Omikron: The Nomad Soul for Dreamcast hahahahaha
Played this game on PC back in the day.. nice seeing it again.. memories.. and.. makes me think of Heretic 1 & 2.. Played those around the same time if I remember correctly
@@100Servings The first one. I've been on the Facebook group since Tim Haywood (the composer) set it up. They were then searching for the source code, and going for the re-release on Steam. Now, thankfully as that was a success, Nightdive gave them the goahead to remaster. The guys who originally worked on it are just as fanatical as us. Of course, the second one isn't included as they didn't do it.

@@kininlil9181 It had very powerful VRAM meaning it had very impressive textures. Le Mans, Shenmue 2, Skies of Arcadia, Quake 3 Arena, Ferrari F355 are all very impressive.
@@Relugus oh yeah, on vram front it had the double of what PS2 had. That was the reason some PS2 ports of dreamcast games lacking in some visual effects(like fire particles in grandia 2) right? And I didn't know quake 3 had a DC port. That's surprising to me.
I still own a Dreamcast Sports Edition & this is the game I always play nonstop! The remastered is also pretty good! Overall 1 of the best Dreamcast games!💯
The shadow gun does get better as you increase your shadow level by collecting dark souls. Charging the shadow meter by holding in fire like a mega buster will fire charged shots which does significantly increase dps. In the remaster, there's actually an endgame upgrade which has you fire max charged shots instantly.
This was one of the few N64 games that looked way better with the expansion pack. The Dreamcast version is even better, the PS1 version is awful. The serial killer levels were the best part of this game, great blending of music & atmosphere. I always thought of it as a mature Tomb Raider clone with all the platforming
I love Shadow Man my favorite game of all time I know it did not age well but that does not bother me because too many games nowadays are either too easy or hold your hand to much, but shadow man does not hold your hand which is why shadow man is my favorite game of all time in my opinion.

I remember when this game was getting heaps of coverage in the Nintendo 64 magazines. It was the "mature" serious title to fight off those calling Nintendo's console too family friendly. The PS1 did have a lot more mature titles in general, so I understand why this was pushed to fill that void. Never got to try it but the promo art looked really cool
Yeah i remember this game, it looked awesome for its time, but i played it with a shitty localisation on my PC so i couldnt get far since i didnt understand what i had to do on a certain mission...
