Received the V3 with blue chameleon VML, but I ordered the Hybrid, so Flam7 allowed me to keep the pad for my troubles and they are sending the Hybrid in addition. Can't beat that with a stick! Well, actually you can, but you know what I mean. Offworld products are such solid pieces of art in my opinion. Maybe I'm too melodramatic about practice pads but that's all I play on these days and I need them to be durable and bounce really well. Will report back when the hybrid arrives. Keep on drumming! My kids were in marching band during high school. I grew to appreciate the drum corps that would come from the various colleges to perform during their events. You should grab a snare drum and show us how it's done.

I ordered a xymox pad before. Honestly, if you can catch a sale they're worth the wait. I got a 12 inch custom reserve with the white rim I think you can't get anymore. It feels amazing, but it's a little too loud for playing at night.

SnareMan playing styles were just different back then, I can’t explain it as well as others. I think it was more wrist based back then, but maybe I’m wrong. You can usually just tell when someone has old school finesse.

I am not a fan of mylar laminates on snare pads, especially with the invader because the darkmatter is such a good material, and imo it feels so much better than regular gum rubber or any mylar laminates, the only thing that can compete with the invader is really the xymox reserve pad.
The dark matter is nice and I agree leaps and bounds over the gum rubber stuff, but I like that the mylar makes it sound a little more articulate. I considered the Xymox, but wasn't willing to wait for 3 months or maybe longer along with their reported less than stellar customer service. So the mylar was a close second for getting closer to a snare sound.
SnareMan honestly the wait for the xymox is worth it the pad feels amazing on your hands I can practice for hours with no problems unlike my invader which starts to hurt my hands after a while during long practice sessions
SnareMan I can’t really explain too well how it feels I can just say that it’s something about it I think it may be the laminate they use that makes it feel like a real snare but also still kind of have a soft feel at the same time. I definitely still use my offworld sometimes because offworld pads have an amazing feel but xymox just feels really seamless and gives amazing rebound
I still have my old ReelFeel pad and it doesnt look as bad as yours but the center I can only describe that I have sand falling off when I switch to the hard surface lmao

I bought the pad without the laminate at first, there are two different models. I bought the laminate separately and put it on later. You can buy it with or without laminate

Sure. There are probably cheaper options, but if you don't mind spending a little extra it's a great pad that should last a long time. The 12" would probably be fine unless you want something a little larger.

Truth. Xymox customer service suuuuuucckks. But once you do finally get your pad they’re frickin amazing. I ordered their full size custom laminated tenor pad on Labor Day for their half off sale ( it ended up being around 100$ which is awesome for a tenor pad) but I received the pad in late February!!! In my case these pads are awesome. They might take a while to produce and deliver but they definitely show that time in the finished product.
I can’t help but agree. In fact I just purchased an invader pad. But I also can’t help but having sentimental value for my old pad and I’m sad because I lost it at some point.
