Ordered this pad with the VML top, the snare puck, and the deadening puck. Received it quickly, and absolutely LOVE IT!!!! If I want to put in pad time after the kids are in bed I just throw the blue foam pad from my ProLogix All-in-One pad on it; it deadens the articulation but STILL get the response of the 'snares'.
Received mine in the mail today. Great pad! Flam7 went out of their way to make sure I received the pad by sending it 2 day air mail. I now have both pads in the above video. Both have the blue chameleon VML. Cool look. Offworld is second to none in customer service and craftsmanship in my humble opinion. I owned the Byosphere and I must say that in my opinion the V3 Hybrid (V4 in the above video) is not as loud and ear piercing as the Byosphere. I had to sell the Byosphere-way too loud. For me and my hands- Offworld and Ram Pad are the two best pads on the market, especially when you factor in the all important customer service.
@@SnareMan Also, as you recommended I watched this video(again). I really love the sound of this pad. I don't know how to describe it besides saying it sounds very articulate.
@@miless17 xymox is trash. I had a prototype pad from 07 that lasted longer than any of their new products. The damn snare puck ripped out the bottom, hardware coming loose. Snare beads on the floor. I’ve got a baby boy trying to gobble them up.
rcp active pad is better than this but not xymox in my opinion. I think Xymox Reserve is the best pad you can get. But it is not worth 2 years to wait for so I would recommend the RCP.
@@DennisJohnsonDrummer Have your own opinion but mine is that rcp is the best deal. Xymox is the best quality but not good wait times. I totally recommend the active pad for someone looking for a good quality pad with snare sounds.
Okay looking for some help here. I own the v3 pad and love it but it is a bit bulky and I travel a lot. I’m aware that they sell a 9.5” pad but that still is a little much to travel with. I wanted to possibly consider making my own mini version but wanted to know if anyone knew the exact material they use or what would be very similar. Also what could I use to make a small rim. Any and all help is much appreciated!
Update: the snare puck does not respond very well. Sold the pad. Bought a Drumslinger. Offworld makes a great product but I feel Drumslinger makes a more realistic pad based on my experience.
what does the laminate on the rcp pad feel like does it feel hard or does it sound plasticky like ther premium pad because im still considering to get the active snare pad with the laminate i hope to see rcp make a snare drum in the future like the hybrid snare because mine still has not come yet im not going to believe them anymore because earlier they said that backordereds are their top priority but i don't believe them anymore xymox has screwed me up again always
Geeeesh!!! Supe dope definitely considering this I like the size vs the other one them taking the other two and converging them both is 🔥🔥 can’t wait to get 1 thanks man God bless great content
Thanks! Good luck with them. The BYOSphere is definitely smaller and easy to carry around, but because its lighter can tend to bounce around on surfaces some compared to this one.
Hey, I know this is an old video, but i have some questions, do you still recommend this as a good practice pad? Also, what does VML do, and whats the difference between the shaker and the puck. Also, is there that much of a difference between the dampner and cymbal connector?
Not too old of a vid. Yes, I still think it's a great pad. The VML gives the pad a little more articulate sound and I think feel. The puck has the jingles on it where as I think the shaker has beads in it, but I haven't seen one in person. I think the dampener is essentially thinner version of the cymbal connector. If you put the cymbal connector in its too tall to put the pad on a table. The dampener is thinner but effectively does the same thing. Hope that helps.
@@SnareMan thanks! I just purchased one with vml a dampner, beads and the puck, should take me through highschool and the future after that! Im excited
Couldn't decide so i went with the reliable v3 with VML, too many reviews on the Ahead mencioned the laminate on the pad tearing after 2-3 months, i might still get it afterwards tho cus they say the snare sound and feel is similar to xymox, real snare
I bought a Xymox pad over a week ago, then I saw your videos about them too late but saw that you recommended this pad, I ordered this pad on Saturday and it’s scheduled to be delivered by Friday, I’m shocked at how Xymox treats everybody, I’m surprised they don’t show their faces ever. That's a tough one. I just put them both on the counter to compare. The RCP has the same ball bearing snare mechanism as the Xymox, although the Xymox is still a much tighter sound that that one. I played on them both for awhile and it's honestly hard to say. They are kind of similar, but different. On a stand they both sound more "loose" compared to on a firm surface like in this vid. The pads themselves just have different sound quality to them with the way their are constructed. I'd like to try at some point - you can tighten up the Offworld pad by adding another washer. I know this doesn't really answer the question, but it's really is hard to say. Neither is as crisp as the Xymox pad, but both are loose in different ways
SnareMan thank you for your response I really appreciate it! It sounds like the rcp is the best alternative to a xymox at least for me in terms of sound which is what I’m looking for the most. I just don’t feel like waiting potentially 1+ years for a xymox
I just make them up for the videos. I run through them a few times until I get a take I'm happy with. Same with the one at the end of the video. I've done it for the last few drumming vids at the beginning and end.
@@DennisJohnsonDrummer Well... Its still pretty darn loud, but I feel like BYOSphere is slightly more piercing. You could either do the V3 hybrid and get the snare puck for when you want that and the deadening puck for when you want less noise. Or just get the regular V3 which is definitely quieter
Maybe I’m just weird but I definitely didn’t like this version as much as the V3. I play on top of a snare a lot and this thing is horrible on a snare because of the 4 small pads on the base. The V3 actually stays in place and feels more solid, and feels better to play on as a result. Pretty disappointed but at least I got the cool purple one bed they ran out.
