  • This is my 1st time trying Dichroic Extract from CBS (Coatings by Sandberg, Inc) It's a fun product & I think it has a lot of possibilities. I show you how I use it on a rough surface & a smooth surface. Then I tell you which is my favorite.

    Thank you Susan for doing this. I got lots of ideas from everything you said and did. Before I saw this video this is what I did, so anyone watching can chose to use this as well as another option. I numbered the packing as well as the correlating jar on the bottom.

    Those are all nice. I love the clear capped one though. It looks so lovely and would draw my eye first. :) - Heidi

    I been wanting to order this extract so bad! The cost of this sample pack is crazy expensive 😮

    Looks good 😁 I also had some success with putting a thin layer of clear powder frit on the glass and tack fusing to get my glass to a sand paper texture so the extract had more to grab on. Plus instead of using water to paint with it I started using glass tac glue so it's a little more sticky. I'm gonna try one like you did with the split piece of glass reminds me of a geode rock so pretty!!🤩😍

      ginahargus5660 you know me, why do an extra step with the clear powder (no patience) & too cheap to use real glue. 😁

      I bet the hairspray would work just the same lol🤣 and I feel ya on the impatient part it was a big dilemma of whether to just try the extracts without the texture because a batch of black glass with frit on it seemed like such a waste lol but then my cheapness got me I was more afraid to waste the extract hahaha

    Can I get mandrels from Lowe’s? It’s just stainless steel rod, so I don’t see why they’d be and different.

    Is there a shelf life to the hairspray “glue” in the container you got from the ceramics store?

    • @SusanMcGarryGlass
      @SusanMcGarryGlass  4 роки тому +1

      Jane McGookey there doesn’t seem to be. I’ve been using one bottle for a couple of years or more. I’ve refilled it many many times. It’s not pretty so I use a new one for the videos. 😁

    Shame on you Susan! You shouldn't do this to an old man. You know I am going to have to try this. Some many good products....so little time!

    Why not use dichroic glass and fritt it?

      liz Potter sometimes you don’t want to add volume so this is perfect.

    Has anyone any idea how dichroic extract is made? I’m looking for a method of removing a dichroic filter. Hopefully, non destructively. :). Tnx
