What a neat idea! And I am glad you always show your failures alongside your successes, to show that everything doesn't go perfect on the first try every time. And hi, Nicole!
Those are pretty the light really sets them off. I saw a technique where you make a white base layer the when it is getting thick. You put plastic wrap on top of the white resin and kind of crinkle it. Let it totally dry then take the plastic wrap off. Paint the white resin with dry mica powder. Pour a layer of clear resin on top. I thought it looks like velvet ❤❤
ok i like the first and second for the front part (the second try looks amazing), the third is way more interesting when there's a light under them! cool project btw, and it's awesome to see nicole as well.
Nicole puts on gloves allllllllll the time, unlike some one else I know 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Good to see Nicole helping. Hope the ribs are on the mend 👍🏻 PS I’ve seen people do this and they put the film on top of the resin and push it up to form the uneven surface. Then once set a top layer.
This would look awesome as a lantern style, grab rectangle moulds, lights and and even experiment with different embeds textiles and you’d have a whole new project/collection to make and sell. Also with the ‘failed’ attempts, could you sand the bottoms down until the colour come through?
I really hope you're feeling ok these days Ben . I've been really worried about you ever since you made that video a few weeks ago , and I've been praying for your well being because our mental health is every bit as important as physical health .
I wonder if you put clear resin first, placed foil, pushed it in, then after while, topped with black... what would that look like? I love the clear sides with the black behind it. So beautiful.
Could have cut the early attempts into cubes and then put them all in a mold with some clear. Maybe not coaster mold but maybe for an egg. When you put the last three over a light, I was envisioning some sort of apparatus that would make the three rotate at different speeds. Viewing thru multiple disks made a very interesting effect.
I’ve been thinking this film would look really pretty if you cut into a bunch strips, and make one of your lamps with it. I think the light shining off all of the colorful bits would be stunning
That was AWESOME!! And bonus to have Nicole in on the action. To be honest guys, I liked them all!! Specially when you set them against the light. Nice job!!! Well done!!! Maurice from Canada!!
I really appreciate you showing when things don't turn out great, and your reaction to it. I'm really bad about giving up when a new craft doesn't succeed right away.
Remindes me of shrinking the empty potato chip bags when I was a kid. Loved the coasters that you both created, especially with the light shining underneath. Can't wait to see what you create next.
I wonder if you could attach those to plug in nightlights as covers? 🤔 They’d be gorgeous! How are you feeling btw? Please don’t push yourself too hard too fast. Setbacks suck. ❤
I think all of those turned out great!! They could easily be used on the "clear" side so the colors pop through. And yes, they look even cooler with a light under them.
Great team work, nice to see your hands Nicole 😂Good experiment, a real learning tutorial and I love the result, just love it! Thank you both, have a good weekend 🌺
Based on the other UA-camrs I've watched (including fellow Queensland resident Julie from Pouring Your Heart Out), I think it would work better dunking the film in clear, then doing a top coat of black. I'm obviously no expert, and any project can be beautiful in its own way!
Dichroic means Two Colours, but the magic of our eyes see more. 4 or 5 Slow Flashing / Fading Defused LEDs, placed at the back or base would look trippy.
Love the video, I hope you're healing up well. All of them do look good, clear on top could work just as well as black on top. Maybe try putting the film in a low heat oven to shrink it, see if it comes out any different?
The clear side is pretty enough on the “failed” coasters, though. I wonder how the film trimmings would look in clear eggs, or you could cut them into smaller pieces and stir them into the resin. The black light effect is pretty cool, though.
On your final picture, the one in the lower left (from the 3rd set you did) looks like a Cartoon Coyote or Fox. I swear I see Wile E. Coyote in that one. LOL
Thanks for stopping by, If you have time you can check out my new range of Eggs here www.etsy.com/shop/bensworx
That was fun! It's nice that you included all the attempts to get the look you wanted. And wow, what a look, especially with the light!
Good to see Nicole helping you Ben love the collab. This is very pretty
Thankyou
Very pretty! I like how you aren't afraid to show any mistakes and what you think went wrong. They still turned out really cool!
Nice to see your videos up again... I hope your back is healing nicely.
Thankyou, I’m recovering well
What a neat idea! And I am glad you always show your failures alongside your successes, to show that everything doesn't go perfect on the first try every time. And hi, Nicole!
Love when Nicole joins you! Also love when you redo a project in a video. I like seeing all the different results ❤
Hey Ben&Nicole
Great seeing you both collaborate again. Very cool project.
Take care of Yourselves 😊
The final try that got the results you wanted were pretty cool.
But I think the 'failures' look really great as well if you're using their top sides.
The middle row flipped look cool.
What a neat idea!
Third time was a charm. Very nice!
Lampshades made like this would be cool. The green light reflected onto the table when you're showing the light shining through them was rad.
Wow third time is a charm. They are so cool! Thanks Ben and Nicole! 😊
Thankyou

Thanks Connie, that sounds cool
Wow looks amazing 👏
Thankyou

Those look great, Ben. You definitely nailed it on the third try. Looking at the tops, I like the second batch best.
Bill
Thanks Bill 😊
Nicole puts on gloves allllllllll the time, unlike some one else I know 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good to see Nicole helping. Hope the ribs are on the mend 👍🏻

😂
I actually love the top a lot!!
This would look awesome as a lantern style, grab rectangle moulds, lights and and even experiment with different embeds textiles and you’d have a whole new project/collection to make and sell.
Also with the ‘failed’ attempts, could you sand the bottoms down until the colour come through?
Always good to see Nicole working with you. I think they would make some awesome stands. 👍
Thanks Mark 😊
Got to say I preferred the tops of coasters rather than the bottom but it’s a very good idea 💕🦆
Well they look amazing to me
Hope recovery is going well 😊
Could you shrink the film in the oven like old-fashioned Shrinky Dinks?
The bottom/backside of the 2nd set looks nice, I'd display em like that.
Nicole should help more often. I like seeing you two work together.
I really hope you're feeling ok these days Ben . I've been really worried about you ever since you made that video a few weeks ago , and I've been praying for your well being because our mental health is every bit as important as physical health .
Thanks James, I’m recovering well
At a slightly smaller size they would make great night lights
Still very cool!!
I wonder if you put clear resin first, placed foil, pushed it in, then after while, topped with black... what would that look like? I love the clear sides with the black behind it. So beautiful.
Love them, would it work if you put the foil in a hot oven?

they all look awesome at ljeast you got better with each try though, loved the video
Thanks Beth 😊
Nice to see Nicole! Hope you’re feeling better. Take Claire’s advice for the ones that didn’t work out the way you wanted and slap a tattoo on it. 😂
Try putting your clear resin down first, then the film then the black. Or cut out strips of film down. Cool end result.
YO MR AND MRS. BEN CAN I PLEASE HAV DA 1 IN DA FIRST BATCH DA 1 WIT DA PAPER RAISED UP A LIL BIT STAY SAFE AND STAY BLESSED YALL 1 LOV
And now they need to be glued together and carve an egg!😊
Story of my life lol "Well that didnt work out" Resin projects have been fun but when your just starting out you really do make a lot of waste
What did you do different for the last ones?
Ben, for some of the failed attemps, why don't you male a lamp out of them?
Do you have to heat it to crinkle it? Couldn’t you just scrunch into ball and open up?
Heating seemed to give it curved ridges. When he scrunched it it had sharp edges.
@@LostWhits Thank you. 🙂
❤❤❤
Use acrylic paint in the mix
Does anyone else see a skull in that first one??
Ah, so heating/shrinking the film to avoid the heat of setting epoxy warping the film.
In this small a pour not much heat will be generated
Said it before, but I love seeing your authentic response to things not turning out as you had hoped :)
I’ve been thinking this film would look really pretty if you cut into a bunch strips, and make one of your lamps with it. I think the light shining off all of the colorful bits would be stunning
Yay Nicole!!! Glad to see her again on the channel. Those turned out real cute even your "failures". I like them.
That was AWESOME!! And bonus to have Nicole in on the action. To be honest guys, I liked them all!! Specially when you set them against the light. Nice job!!! Well done!!!
Maurice from Canada!!
Thanks Maurice 😊
Wow!! The third ones are awesome!! I liked the first ones, loved the second ones, but you really got me with the third ones. ❤
Thankyou
The first one you stuck on the light looks like a giraffe whilst on an acid trip 😂
I really appreciate you showing when things don't turn out great, and your reaction to it. I'm really bad about giving up when a new craft doesn't succeed right away.
So pretty!!! I love how it sparkles!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️

Yeah for sure, I’m recovering well Thankyou
Those would look cool as night light covers.
Even when you're back on the lathe, I hope you'll keep making some videos like this too. I'm enjoying the variety. :)
I think all of those turned out great!! They could easily be used on the "clear" side so the colors pop through. And yes, they look even cooler with a light under them.
Those came out pretty neat, Ben! I hope you are recovering well or have fully recovered.
Thanks Mike, I’m recovering well
Personally, I like the clear side better. Great idea, grwat results. Looking forward to the next project.
How is the rib doing?
Thankyou, I’m recovering well
Great team work, nice to see your hands Nicole 😂Good experiment, a real learning tutorial and I love the result, just love it! Thank you both, have a good weekend 🌺
Thanks Alison 😊
Yep, the middle set looked much better
Maybe instead of pouring a clear layer, add a little black so the film still shows
Based on the other UA-camrs I've watched (including fellow Queensland resident Julie from Pouring Your Heart Out), I think it would work better dunking the film in clear, then doing a top coat of black. I'm obviously no expert, and any project can be beautiful in its own way!

Yeiiii!! Love your videos with Nicole!! ❤❤
How goes your arm Ben?
Thankyou, I’m recovering well
@@BensWorx excellent!!
All look great in various effects. Even your perceptions of the progress to ideals. Use in a backlighted disco colour displaying light changer.
Love the video, I hope you're healing up well. All of them do look good, clear on top could work just as well as black on top. Maybe try putting the film in a low heat oven to shrink it, see if it comes out any different?

I don't know if you watch Nick Zimetti or not but love his sound effects for dawning his gloves
you put yourselves down too much, the first try looked amazing :D
just hope you're feeling ok and healing well. great video though as always of course.
Thank you for showing your "mistakes". Too many artisans on UA-cam don't show ones they messed up on.
Look awesome. Would doing in reverse work any better, start with the clear then foil then black
i liked #2 of the third batch shown over the light and the entire first batch with the less amount of pigment. thx!
"...for the resin to get thick and tacky...." Just like me!
They All turned out really great I would put them together somehow and turn them into lamb
❤another great video shame about the film lifting on the first casting if at first you don’t succeed then try try again 👍😘
These look kinda like ammolite. A fossil found here in Canada. Very cool!
They look like stained glass on the light! ❤ turn the second batch upside down, they are really pretty !
The clear sides looked best in my opinion, especially the green ones in the second batch.
i think you should try dropping your film in a paper shredder then mixing it might get some cool effects
Maybe try cutting it into tiny pieces or putting it down first then black
The third try came out best for what you were trying to achieve. The tops of the second try looks better than the bottoms.
I think you could do a really neat space lamp with this stuff once you can get back on the lathe
the one where the film lifted in the back looks like a skull
Yay!!!!! Nicole is here !!! 🎉
I would love some of the ones you didn't like I'll take them off your hands
Third time’s a charm… they look awesome 👍
If it shrinks when heated what happens if you put unsprung ones in resin to cure?
Put them in the oven on a bbq plate liner so it can’t stick to the surface.
I really liked the 2nd set when they were "upside down"
I like the second try flipped paper side up.
Use India Ink for a solid black
Glue a few together and turn an egg bet it would look great.
They are all nice, in there own way. Lol
wow so cool!
Third time's a charm!! Awesome coasters!
Thankyou
