I love watching this guy work, it's viscerally close to home. The 😅 missed water valve, the things falling down on their own schedule. When you find yourself under a drain pipe, elegance is just a delusion.
No problem at all. I wanted to see the good and bad too. I felt like every video I found showed the idea use and like a commercial. I knew there was some stumbling around or complications that ppl encountered. So I wanted to just show it as it is.
Great video! Thank you for the breakdown! I’ve changed these filters 3-4 times and I ALWAYS watch a video before and during for that reason, one little mistake and theres water everywhere 😂
Thank you!! I appreciate that. I’m editing a full video on how to install this unit right now. Should have that out in the next week or so step by step how to install the APEC reverse osmosis
It’s good practice to run it for a couple minutes after new filter is installed. Some have it written to do so, but your not wrong if you just do it anyways
Man that’s tough. Make sure the waters off and pressure is released out of the system. Open the spigot to let water out of it once you have it shut off cuz that will definitely keep them in there tight. Next I’d make sure you have a good wrench. Unfortunately they all seem to be plastic, but a metal one that fits tight would be perfect. Not sure if they exist though. You can also try tapping on the cylinder with a heavier object a little to see if that helps release the threads. Usually a combination of those things gets it going. Wish I could be of more help.
The different brands are all very similar in size. But I know there’s a couple custom looking systems out there that try to have a proprietary size to make you purchase just from them. But there may be a “universal” filter you can get through Amazon ? Worst case through Amazon is you try it out and it can be returned for free no hassle. Once you get it obviously hold it up to the canister and see if it looks like it’s going to fit before you open the system all up.
@ it’s good to learn for sure. Being able to fix and replace items with your system will come in handy. We had a well at our previous home and had to work on the pump sometimes, learned a lot there
I’m not 100% familiar with Westinghouse systems. But a quick google search it looks like allfilters dot com has some? And it could be possible that a generic brand or universal filter may work if it’s like theses other systems with cartridges inside.
There could be a couple things wrong with your system if it’s not working properly. It may not be the filters, but it may have to do with the lines or the tank itself. Water should flow freely through all of the different filters. The tank may need to be looked at Because there’s usually an air bladder in there that helps with storing the water under pressure when needed. So it sounds like it’s not a filter issue and more of a mechanical issue
The top one on this usually is a replacement. The one below it has that smaller head, and I usually use some type of plumbing wrench or larger plastic wrench that fits, or something that came with the system originally. Otherwise, you could use something similar to an oil filter adjustable wrench. You just need to be careful because this is all plastic and anything metal to plastic could cause damage
Depends on your set up. The instructions usually say to install and run the water for a bit or until the pressure in your system has reduced. Usually several minutes of running water to flush the new filter.
Reverse osmosis’s are great! I wouldn’t say they are a waste of time. And changing your filters when needed is not a waste of time either. It’s necessary

lol. Couldn’t agree more. It doesn’t always goes as planned, that is the DIY way
I appreciate you showing the spraying out at the beginning! Thanks man! A lot of people would edit that out. Appreciate you!

I agree. I always check a video again when doing maintenance or Working on something I don’t do every day
Appreciate the video and humor - just picked up a series of filters as we were overdue.
Nice! Yeah I always procrastinate on changing these. Then after I’m done I remember it ain’t so bad
Great vid, if possible, would love to see the 2 filter one as well
I appreciate that. Thank you 🤙🏼
Google search for apec stage 4 and 5 filter replacement took me here.... Not sure why. So I agree 💯. Please show us the stage 4 and 5 replacement. 🙏
You are a legend, sir. Thank you for this well articulated guide.

@FortKnoxCo Noice very much appreciated. Just in time for me, I need to do my RO membrane as well.

Your very welcome. I’m happy you got something from it
Hi Sir,
Thank you for your detailed video.
I have one question do I need to run water after turn on water tank on (in video 11:15)
It’s good practice to run it for a couple minutes after new filter is installed. Some have it written to do so, but your not wrong if you just do it anyways
Mine are so tight I can’t remove them. I am wondering if you have tips for that

Does it all use the same filter for the all the reverse osmosis? I try to find my but I don’t seen to find anything about my system

@@FortKnoxCo thank you so much for the fast response, we just got a new house with a well and this type of system so it been a learning process

I have a Westinghouse RO system and cant seem to find the filters for it, Any recommendations? Or do I need to get another system?

Whats the difference between the apec roes 50, 75 or 100?
I believe the number refers to the GPM Gallons per minute. So each system filters water at a different flow rate.
I hope you were using a GoPro 😁😁 Thanks for the video!
lol. Nope, unfortunately it was my phone
@FortKnoxCo Good thing most phones are waterproof nowadays, hehe. Cheers!
@ 💯
what if tank isn’t filling and u are draining a lot of water and no water out of spigot

Carbon filters need to be flushed before installation. You missed this important step.
