After replacing the bottom 3 stage filters, an initial flush is required before connecting the 3 stage filters to the main RO membrane. This is required to prevent the residual carbon (grey colored water), from the initial 3 stage filters, to getting into the RO membrane (per installation manual).

This video SERIOUSLY needs to be removed and replaced with a proper version.
The biggest problem of all: according to this video you just replace the first 3 filters and connect everything back up.
This is a major issue - perhaps they are looking to sell more higher stage filters!?
Because the first step you should make when replacing the first 3 filters, before you remove any filter - remove the 'OUT' connection from end of the 3rd stage filter that goes up into the higher stages.
Then after you replace the filters for stages 1-3 - you MUST flush the system for a while to clear carbon grit and sediment.
As you must do with all carbon filter media.
I did this by unplugging that 'OUT' connection and after replacing the filters for stage 1-3, I then ran the water directly into the sink by lifting the filter assembly up there.
The water that came out for the first 10-20 seconds was completely gray and nasty.
Had I not removed that connection and 'flushed' those 3 filters - all of that gray water would have gone into the filters for stages 4-6. What a disaster this video is because that is instantly reducing the quality and life of the upstream filters/filtration.
The other thing that needs to be done in the re-make of this video:
Make the entire first section only about the 4 filters that need to be replaced every 6 months so they are all in the first section. The first time we're coming online to look for solutions on how to do the filter replacements, is 6 months after we first installed the system. We don't need replacement instructions on anything else until the 1 year mark.
So make the video into sections:
    Section 1:
replacing filters 1-3 and 6 in one go (for 6 month filter maintenance)
and of course, INCLUDE the bit about flushing the first 3 filters from the 'OUT' output before proceeding on to the 6th stage filter
    Section 2:
replacing filters 1-3 and 5 and 6 (for 1 year filter maintenance)
    Section 3:
replacing all filters at the 2 year mark
I can't even imagine how many people have followed this video, and not flushed their system after replacing filters 1-3 and they are reducing the quality of their system upstream, causing themselves to have to replace more filters more often - and then they are most likely experiencing a less than optimal water quality because of all of the cardon dust they are introducing into the system upstream from filters 1-3 - and this really shouldn't ever happen.
I seriously implore @iSpring Water Systems to remove this video as soon as possible with properly updated step by step instructions that include my suggestions above. I got lucky and did a bit more digging before acting on the instructions of this video - and after seeing all the carbon dust that pumped out into my sink I'm so fortunate that I caught that error in this video so the remaining filters have a better lifespan and the water quality continues to be as good as possible.

The first time that I watched this video was my first time changing my filters. About 5 months before this post, a user named muckrak3r posted a month after my first filter change. I had no idea that a filter flush was required which means, well I don't know what it means actually. So, what was the water quality like after my first time changing the filters without flushing? What was I drinking? Not only did iSpring not include this information within this video, they lazily pinned a new filter flush video ( 4 or 5 months after muckrak3r's post) instead of creating an entirely new one. The newly pinned video helps, so thank you. But my god iSpring! You need to fix this asap!

The only thing that troubles me is the repeated advice to hand tighten the canisters and then use the wrench to tighten them another "1/4 to 1/2 turn". Hi Gino D.,
This is carbon residue or dust from the stage 2 or stage 3 filter. We recommend flushing the pre-filters, (stages 1, 2, and 3) to remove any carbon dust particles that may be there from the filters. Did you perform the flushing step when you changed the filters? He said to flush the system 2-3 times. To me it's better to disconnect the hose from the tank and flush it in the sink. I don't know why he didn't tell us to do that but instead said to flush the tank 2-3 times. Why contaminate your tank with carbon when you can take the hose out and flush in the sink.

    • @PilotVBall
      @PilotVBall 4 роки тому +2

If your system is working as intended, the water that goes into the tank is water that has already passed through the RO filter. Therefore, there should be no carbon entering the tank or coming out of the faucet. You should still flush the carbon filter before reconnecting the three pre-filters to the rest of the unit to get all that carbon dust out.

      Hi Remon Mina,
We would not recommend recycling the waste water into the system since the waste water is the concentrated contaminants that were removed from your source water from the system. You can reduce the amount of waste water the system uses by installing a permeate pump to your system. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Love this company. I bought the ispring rcc7 a couple years ago and love it. Better than bottled quality water, and the only reason I managed to put it together and install it is because of their UA-cam channel so thank you for that.
I do have a question tho. I'm intrigued by that UV stage, is there any way I could modify my system to have the UV stage right after my post carbon filter, then to the tank? Without having the alkaline stage. I don't want my water alkaline, I also use it on plants so I need a neutral pH so the RCC7 is perfect for me. Just though the extra UV stage would be nice

When you say "flush the system" or "flush the carbon filters," do you mean run water through them as you replace them or to empty the entire system 2-3 times by letting the water out of the whole system? If you could shed some light on how to flush out the carbon dust when replacing the filters, it would be appreciated.

    • @iSpringWaterSystems

To flush out the carbon dust, you need to disconnect the tube between pre-filters and RO membrane (only disconnect the membrane side), point the tube to a sink, and run water through the first 3 filters until water is clear. It is wrong to try to install the sediment filter in a horizontal position. There is no protrusion inside the filter housing for the filter to sit on. When you try to install the filter in a horizontal position, the filter slides from the center. First, place the filter chamber on a flat place and without lifting it, look from the top and place the filter in the chamber centered, then place the main body on top and slowly turn the chamber (without removing it from the ground). There is no such problem with the other two carbon filters, because they have snap-on slots.
Especially a lot of activated carbon dust comes out of the filter in the middle. 3. Without installing the filter, turn the water on and let it drain until the color of the water becomes lighter. After installing the 3rd filter, run the water again, but be sure to remove the membrane connection. When completely clean water comes out, you can use the new membrane.

The video does not use this type of connection and therefore does not describe this method of disconnecting - its very frustrating that they do not address this - not even in a printed insert in the kit.

Please watch the latest video. This video does not mention flushing of the pre-filters. Destroyed my RO membrane and alakaline filter.

Sheesh. They don’t tell you before you buy these things that you basically have to be a licensed plumber to change the filters. This looks impossible to do myself, so I guess I’ll have to hire a plumber to do it every time. Not to mention that I don’t even have the wrenches he’s talking about (I guess the guy who installed the system threw them away?) What an expensive PITA.

Hi Jeff. The filter changes in our systems are very easy and you don't need to be a licensed plumber to do it. If you have any difficulties during filter changes or need another wrench, please contact us at 678-261-7611 (M-F, 8:30 - 5:30 EST) or email us to support@123filter.com. We are happy to help!

This video fails to tell you to flush the system after replacing the 1st 3 filters and before replacing the rest... I learned the hard way and now ISpring will get more money from me because I need to do this all over again

    • @iSpringWaterSystems
      @iSpringWaterSystems  3 роки тому

Hi Tony. It won't hurt your prefilter if you didn't flush them after replacements. All loose carbon (if there are any) will be caught by the membrane. We have put the prefilter flush video at the end of this video, and pinned the link in the comment. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out at 678-261-7611 (M-F, 8:30 - 5:30 EST) or email us at support@123filter.com. We are happy to help!

@@iSpringWaterSystems , The last filter , the Alkaline filter, is now black. I'm sure the brand new membrane and the new FT15 are just as bad. You need to delete this video and re do it with proper instructions ,, this will kep your customers happy. I will be ordering new filters today ,,, enjoy my money

I just purchased this brand new and the install book says to remove the bag from the membrane. I can bench press well over 300 pounds and cannot for the life of me remove this membrane from the housing. I just tried for 5 minutes straight and this guy's version is clearly rigged. I tried a pair of channel locks before finding this video, and after watching it, tried needle nose pliers as shown here.... both to no avail. At this point I can only hope that it doesn't actually have a bag and that in three years I can somehow get it out after its wet. If it doesn't function because of a bag that is on here, I'm going to be upset.

With all the due respect the instructions skip so many important steps that its not even funny.. i have just wasted my whole evening with all this and there are more than a few “official” videos for the same system and filter replacement. And, the amazing thing is these videos show different steps. for god’s sake, can you please have someone show actual instructions with real installed system. Not too much to ask. Thank you.

This video really should be taken down and edited to include a CRITICAL step. I don’t understand why the company would leave this up knowing that.
