As a plumber, I couldn’t help but notice your dishwasher drain hose has no air gap or “high loop” and looks funky inside. That’s due to gunk from your disposal spilling into it, (which in many cases will cause your dishes to smell nasty even after the dishwasher is done) solution: ziptie the drain hose to have a high loop in it, higher than the connection to the disposal, to prevent back flow.
Thank you so much for this video!! I called Culligan to find out why the flow was so low and they were not only unwilling to help they were extremely rude. I had resolved myself to the fact that I'd have to have them come out and service my system. The last time I did this it cost me over $500. With this info I can resolve it myself and save a bundle of cash!! What a blessing!!
Note when you repressure your tank the max pressure should not exceed 7,5 PSI . It is not the more air you put in the more pressure you get it the diameter of the faucet is determining the max flow rate /amount that goes thru. The usual water pressure here in Holland is 3,5 bar wich is 39.4 PSI when you pump your airtank higher then that like the max working pressure written on the tank it wont fill upp because the water pressure from the city is lower than your tank pressure . It will prevent the tank from filling upp with osmosis water. This is said for passive sytems with no booster pump . If you have a booster pump you need to look at the pressure it delivers and stay below that with your tank. And again increasing the pressure in the tank wont change the amount of water that comes out of your faucet.
That's true here in CALIFORNIA we got ave 65-70 PSI with the RO system will drop the pressure to 50-55 i would recommend maybe 15-20 PSI this way the tank won't fill with water that fast, but always the feed must be twice the working pressure vs the tanks.
Good video. It helped me as the first time I didn’t fully drain the tank as I didn’t know how and didn’t want to over pressure the bladder. Let’s see if it works this time for a longer period. It would’ve been nice to show the pressure after the tank was emptied and indicate that lifting. Also that you have to pressure the bladder to 5-7 psi after the system is drained.
Yes, this is super helpful, and my issue is resolved. BTW, here is how I decided the amount of air I pumped into the tank. Turn off the water source valve, and begin to drain the water in the tank into a container. When it starts dripping, pump some air into the tank. Repeat this until you have the right amount of water in your container, and you stop pumping air. In my case, I want to drain one gallon of water from the tank each time.
We had the same issue with low/no flow after following the instructions for replacing the filters on our Aquasana 5300. My husband added a hose washer to the bottom of the green canister and voila! Water at a great rate! Thanks help line!
Hey, I am curious why did the tank lose pressure to begin with? How often are we supposed to re-pressurize the tank? Is it better to get a pump based system to avoid this problem? Thanks for the video!
From what I understand, there are two pouches in the tank -- one each for water and air. Maybe the air escapes slowly over time from the pressure. It's been about 5 years for my tank, about when the manufacturer says to repressurize it. The slow flow also started a month after changing filters so wasn't sure if it was that, higher pressure in a tall building, or it was time. The pouches can also rupture so quite a few things to check out.
Great video, I saw in other videos they completely disconnected the tank, but yeah makes sense you can just shut off the water, keep the faucet open, and pump the water out, might go a little faster completely disconnected since it doesnt have to go back through the filters and tubes, but this is more convenient if its safe.
it is different for certain faucets. the ones with the handle on the same side as the faucet can be held in the up position. The faucets with the handles on the other side, like the one in the video, that one is more of a toggle.
I noticed that right away. That is why there is black goo in the line. Guessing your dishes are not getting clean. Sink will drain into your dishwasher . Yuck. Thanks for the video.
Just a heads up, that faucet can be flipped UP to release all the water from the tank. No need to tape it or hold it down. It's a decent little system for sure, but I am experiencing no pressure after replacing filters. I replaced them ! at a time, exactly in the same orientation, but no flow now. I replaced the new ones with the old ones and still no pressure. I'm having trouble logicing this out. I fear the new filters somehow damaged the system. Tank fills but won't empty when connected to the system, but easily empties when not connected to it. I'm stumped. I assume the tank has pressure due to it emptying out with force. I did the test to see if the bladder was broken but no water cam out the valve on the bottom of the tank when the pin was depressed, just air.
@@Redneck69-24 If there is no pressure in your empty tank, you wouldn't be getting any water flow at all. I think the empty tank needs to be pressurized to between 6 & 8 psi so, it seems to me, checking this and correcting before filling is the way to go (you need a low pressure gauge that will read down to at least 5psi) This is what worked for me :P After doing this and re-filling: If pressure starts to peter out before emptying in a short period of time, it means the bladder in the tank isn't holding pressure and you need a new tank.
Thanks. This was helpful. Earlier I did not use pressure (fearful of bursting the bladder) to empty the tank completely and the problem remained unsolved. Problem was solved after emptying the tank entirely.
Super helpful my guy! My dad and I were trying to figure it out for the last few weeks until I decided to look it up instead of fumbling around troubleshooting. Hope you’re doing well!
Thank you for the detailed video and explanation! I was able to get my reverse osmosis system working properly again without having to pay the $100+ service fee charged by my water softer company. I used a bicycle pump to re-pressurize it to a PSI of less than 10PSI. I didn't have a pressure meter that could measure smaller amounts, so I used the gage on the bicycle pump. My tank had a Max PSI of 100, but from advice on a similar tutorial video, it said to keep it at between 5-7PSI. Thank you!
thanks for the video! super helpful. when we pressurize the tank, the flow starts to trickle again almost immediately. it seems like the air is not staying in the tank, is it possible we have an air leak in the tank?
Awsome. Thanks! Mine stopped and I got new filters but could not figure out why the water would not flow. I did not know you have to keep the tank pressurized. EZ fix.
A bike pump works too! And it says the psi on the tank but my bike pump didn’t say the measurements so I just pumped it for a bit and it fixed it for now, thanks!!
What is the max PSI setting for that tank? that is the same tank I have... But When I just pumped it with a hand pump before finding this video, it did fix the stream for a bit, but after that it wouldn't fill up my tank anymore? But I wonder if I just had too little pressure I just used a bike pump and put like 50 pumps in it. What is the max PSI rating?
FYI to BBK......on the goose neck water valve you have on the sink, if you flip the black valve up vertically, and parallel to the goose neck, the valve will stay in open position, without the need for any props to hold it open. Simply turn back down to normal close position when finished. Cheers!
I couldn't tell if as you were pressurizing the tank, was the water dispenser valve opened the full time or did you have it closed while you pressurized?. Thanks in advanced..
You can get an electric plugin inflator that will only take 2-5 minutes to repressurize from walmart for 20 or 30 dollars. And it has a psi gauge attached.
when i tried measuring the pressure, water started to come out of the nozzle. After pumping air into the tank, it seems to not hold it and water goes out of the nozzle when I measure the PSI. Does it meant the tank needs to be replaced?
Wait…at around 11:39 you say turn system on and let it refill and then you say you are going to turn system off. Which one is? I would assume we need to turn system back on to let tank fill for a few hours. ?
Has anyone have water leaking from the bottom valve when trying to pump air back in? It makes me think that the "bladder" has a leak/hole. I can't seem to pump air in. In this case, the tank has to be replace right?
Yeah I think that is my case too, some water came out the bottom and i can't get air into is, the tank remains full after pumping for a long time and never holds any psi
The system is brand new, just hooked up and not yet used, and the system starts to fill the tank but then shunts water to the drain saddle constantly. We have good water pressure-though I haven’t gotten a flow rate or psi reading.
Super helpful and well explained! Do you have any videos on how to solve leaking problems in this system? Like, leaking from the places where those little plastic tubes are connected to the filters...
at the 11:09 mark you fail to mention that when you pressurize the tank, you have to close the top valve/faucet, for the pressure to stay in the tank no?
I’m confused because my tank says Maximum working pressure of 100 psi. When I pump air should I be pumping to what it says then… since I’ve been seeing the average tank takes 5-7 psi 🥴
Why does the manual say system should be 50-100 psi? It's hard to get 7.5 psi with a bike pump.. Trying to help pump water thru isn't working too well, like it's too full already?
I just got an 8 stage kit wit uv lamp.and tank today but how does water get in tank and out of tank when only one connected pipe?instructions not great with my kit
It seems similar to an accummulator. If so the amount of water prior to pressurization of bladder determines the amount of water dispensed at rated pressure before it tapers of to a lower pressure through all those in line filters. If tank is pressurized prior to this, minimal amount of fills the accumulator and this amount only can be dispensed at rated pressure. In other words if tank has to deliver 2 litres at regulated pressure it implies fill the tank with 2 litres before pressurize to tank ratings. Here have assumed inside the is a floating balloon bladder connected to valve. Remaining space contains the water buffer. Point is can achieve rated pressure with bladder totally filling up the space inside tank OR half the tank volume taken up. In the latter case half the of water is now available at faucet for dispensation at pressure.
my ro-132 tank says the max working pressure is 100 psi but all these tutorials say 5-10 psi, I've got mine between 5 and 10 but no pressure. should I put more in then?
You need 7-10 pounds of air in the bladder, measured with a completely empty tank. And more then 40psi of water pressure into the system. But less then 100psi. That's where the 100 comes from. Max water pressure.
@@BrickBuildingKids I'm finally in a situation where I need to pressurize the tank. It seems that it's full of water but only small stream of water is coming out of our faucet from our water being turned on. My tank is really heavy with water. Can I still just pressurize with water still in it?
Very helpful video! Since you didn't show it after multiple times of showing it, what was the final pressure read before turning the water main back on?
Thanks, I had to Reduce my pressure, it was coming out Too Fast. So I assume you can add air to the tank as well, if everything else doesn't improve pressure?
Dear BB Kids, Thanks for the video. My tank says max. operating pressure is 100psi so I don't understand how 7.5 approx is enough. Would you be kind enough to advise me. Many thanks. Greg.
The 100 max PSI refers to the water pressure feeding into the reverse osmosis system or, basically, the home's water pressure. It does not refer to the PSI inside the tank. The 5-7 PSI refers to the pressure the tank must have when the reverse osmosis tank is empty of water.
Thank you for this video, this worked perfectly on my system, apec water system roes 50, the manufacturer send me instrction on how to do another method which required taking out entire tank out. This is a bettrr algernative :)
The bladder inside the tank has broken. It has 2 chambers, one for air and the other for water. There should be no water in the air side. You need a new tank.
The pressure on a "full" tank will vary based on your local water pressure. So for example if your local water pressure is 60PSI, your tank will reflect a number similar to that once it has completely filled and stopped making RO water. If your pressure is 30PSI, you'll have a "full" tank pressure of around 30PSI. So when the tank says max pressure of 7.5psi, they are referring to empty tank BLADDER pressure, not tank pressure. If your tank says 100psi or some other high number they are referring to the max pressure the tank can handle and you will likely blow a hole in your bladder if you pump it up that high. This is why the number on the tank can be so confusing.
@@BrickBuildingKids I see others fully shut everything off and disconnect everything, what’s the difference? I put pressure into my tank but it only fills a quarter of the way then stops
I can speak to ours. We turn off the knob on the top of the tank, empty the tank of water in the sink, hook up the pump and fill up. Are you making sure the tank is fully drained?
What if I don’t have the air pressure blower machine thing? And how long do I need to wait for the tank to be full? I can empty it but I don’t have the machine to put pressure then what?
so i just installed my system yesterday and let it fill overnight for the draining process and the flow is super low. however, I live in Denver....i am wondering if the altitude has anything to do with my issue?

It should say on the label on the tank near the valve.
Finally! Thanks so much!
why do I get water out of the pressure vale when I check it with the pressure gage ?
The bladder inside the tank has broken. It has 2 chambers, one for air and the other for water. There should be no water in the air side. You need a new tank.
Thank you!!!! Will give this a try.
Hi thank you for this info! I'm still Wondering why you didn't put the water in a bottle to drink later 😂 👍
I have same tank
What’s the correct PSI
For this tank
To get started
What is the pressure on full tank?
Do you pumped the tank while it was connected to the RO system?
Yes, we don’t disconnect it to fill it.
@@BrickBuildingKids it feels light as a feather and pumping releases no water so my guess is it’s empty
Awesome Job. Thank you.
Looks exactly like mine. I never seen one that will not lift up to stay on.
I’m sure yours is special, pretty sure Darwin has the same faucet.
Thank you very much for the video. I’m a dental equipment tech and the Clinic uses a system like this for their sterilization units. After following your steps now the faucet works well and everyone is happy.
Thank you for the video.
AWESOME!!!!!! We were about to buy a new one, and added about 30psi and it works like a charm!!!! THANK YOU!
30 psi is too much. These tanks only need 5-7 psi. So if you have a bicycle floor pump, about 3-4 pumps is enough.
@@db7927 7ish empty, 30 with water makes sense.
I hope that was on a water filled tank, not empty otherwise you just broke the tank.
