      A good siege needs purpose and setup.
      First of all we need to have a better setup of Eregion and the defenders.
      -How does it work?
      -How are the Elbs fighting?
      -Maybe show some future battles
      -maybe show some strong defence wappons
      Then it is unclear why Adar attacks the hole city.
      Why does he not talk to the Elbs to give him Sauron?
      The blockage of the river is the big ambush. It need at least some backstorry.
      How does Adar know about it?
      Why do the Elbs not know?
      It just seems way to easy and random.

    It was clear as to why the orcs turned on Adar. That head most trusted Orc questioned Adar's love for them as his children when he forged them ahead when it appeared that they were losing in battle. When that particular Orc called Adar by name and then said to him "ADAR, You said you loved us..." before Adar made the final decision to continue the campaign that cost so many Orc lives. From that point on the Orcs developed doubt about Adar's love for them. When that trusted leader Orc found Sauron, and Sauron asked his name, Sauron no doubt engaged in some sort of dialog and sensed that apparent doubt, perhaps pretending that he loved the Orcs more so, causing that particular Orc, Adar's most trusted leader, to flip..
    At the end of the episode that same orc briefed Sauron about the progress of the war telling Sauron (right before Sauron kills him) that if they continued fighting that more Orc lives would be lost, Sauron kills him. He killed him using the same reason that was used to flip him against Adar. Perhaps seeing a disdained weakness of that particular Orc when it came to other orc lives. At that point Sauron wanted no weaknesses because he had fully installed himself as the leader of the Orcs and had little concern for their lives and had no use for wimpering loose ends crying about love and how many lives being lost in battle.

    • @nicomal
      @nicomal 3 місяці тому +7

      It explained why the orcs turned on Adar. It doesn't explain why they would follow Sauron. Apparently the orcs just wanted peace, and they know Sauron won't provide that. I think they didn't show it, because they don't know how to explain it.

    • @jonfreeman9682
      @jonfreeman9682 3 місяці тому

      Sauron is no friend of the orcs and will callously kill them. Yes Adar does care more for the orcs but he knows how dangerous Sauron is so is willing to go to war and sacrifice orcs to destroy Sauron and orcs aren't happy about that but that's no reason for orcs to ally themselves with Sauron. My guess is Sauron used mind game trickery as he has the power to create illusions and convinced the orcs that he was the best choice to look after orc interests. Sauron actually showed he can do much more than create illusions but can actually control minds like he did with the elf soldiers to get them to kill each other so it's possible he is controlling the orcs to kill Adar. But that's silly in itself as Sauron is so powerful he could have just walked up and kill Adar himself without any orc help or ruse. It's obvious Sauron is way more powerful than Adar as he has power to create illusions, mind control, magic to transform himself from Halbrand to Sauron and we haven't seen all his magic powers yet. Plus he is physically strong in combat. That being said I would have liked a better ending for Adar. It's a waste of a good character after all the buildup.

    I think it’s a great improvement on season one. And that’s coming from somebody who liked the first season. After finishing season two, I went back and binged season one, and while I’m not a fan of all of the writing. I think it really gets the heart of Tolken in both his theology and his themes. season two steps that up and focuses on characters that I really care about. Like both Charles Edwards and Charlie vickers performances this season are just awe-inspiring. I think there’s plenty of things to criticize about the show, like all shows, but I think the strong fan base who likes it really likes it and I’m one of them. Also, my God, Barry McCreery!! If you don’t agree with me on anything else, you have to agree that Bear McCreary is just killing it.

      While it's not terrible, a lot of character develoment was sacrificed for the plot, often very dull and the intrigue was subpar since Sauron was right when he said to Calebrimbor that they think too highly of him. They basically put themselves in the situation and Galadriel doesn't seem to learn her lesson, all of it could have been avoided so many times. I did like the Dwarven characters and story, Elrond was alright and seemed to be the only one with a brain. The Numenor coup was forced, people seem to switch loyalty from one person to the next on a whim and feels inauthentic with lots of wattery eyes acting and supposed emotional stories that also feel forced and rushed. Sauron his actor and persona was well done but didn't fit the pacing of other main characters, everything together I'd give it a 6.5/10

    Sauron is actually the good guy. The elves deceive and betray each other, humans, ururks. Even Adar just used the orks and used his father image to manipulate them - which led to his fall. Sauron just wants to put an end to it and bring peace but is forced to play with their rules. Elves as well as Gandalf just used Bilbo and Frodo later as well, willingly. The elves, human and dwarf societies were rotten. Sauron later just used their behaviour to each other against them. Even in our reality, humans are rotten and not fit to govern themselves, would be better if AI would take Control, because humans are just way too rotten and history proved that over and over. Humans should not be allowed to govern themselves.

    As much as I enjoyed the Balrog scene, it paints the writers into a huge plot hole corner. Instead of thousands of years of Khazad-dum’s greatness, now it’s a good couple of years. The wrong Durin (III vs VI) gets killed, ok fine creative licensing, but his son doesn’t make note of what he actually saw as “Durin’s Bane”? Unlike the books, there were surviving witnesses to the Balrog’s presence. Balin sure would’ve appreciated a post-it note or something. Or Durin telling of his father’s death to his brother from another mother Elrond, who might’ve seen but definitely would’ve heard of Balrogs in the first age, as Gil-Galad’s herald?
    Describe a Balrog without actually describing a Balrog. Go ahead, I’ll wait.
    Elrond would have mentioned it to Galadriel or Gil-Galad, whose father was actually killed by a Balrog. Or go to Glorfindel and say “remember that time you died? What did that dude look like that murdered you?” It changes the Fellowship of the Ring where the White Council would’ve said “Balrog? Under no circumstances go thru Moria with the ring!” No Moria, no Gandalf the White, no Sharkey, etc.
